For an employer the mini-job is actually more expensive than a "regular" job (over 450 € monthly). For mini-jobs employers pay 28 to 30% in social securities and/or income taxes. For most other jobs above 450 € monthly it's only about 20%. While working a mini-job you are eligile for paid vacation days too.
since late 2022 the minijob limit is always relative to minimum wage: if you work for minimum wage you can work up to ten hours a week and still have a minijob (the monthly cap is one third of 13 weeks of 10 hours a week at minimum wage, rounded up to the nearest Euro). So at the moment it's 520€ per month (12€/hour minimum wage).
If you are a student and officaly matriculated , you can work as a "Werkstudent" as well. Than there is only the max. 20hrs/per week rule and you only pay for pension aprox 10 percent in total. Taxes may be not charged, If you earn less than 10k/per year. This jobs often related to your study subject but it doesn't have to. If you can or want earn some extra money for an other job u can do it as Mini-Job as well.
Let me start with a compliment . Being German but living abroad ( UK ) myself I watched all your video with interest. It's always interesting to learn about ones own country through the eyes of a foreigner. Things one takes for granted or has never really thought about because they are what they are get through you yes a completely different prospectus. Keep going ! Now regards taxes. This is I think in every country a very hot and very complicated subject. You mention in your video the ceilings unto which a job is considered a mini-job. So far so good but be careful in regards of taxation. As you are married you might be looked at from a German Tax Office point of view as a " single Household" ( not the correct description ) meaning that your income might be added to your husbands and then the combined one is been taxed. Please get that checked by a local tax expert before you run into problems!! Furthermore: I am assuming that both you and your husband are still American Citizens. In that case you may also have a tax liability ( and even its only a reporting liability ) towards the IRS. There are only two countries in this world ( being the USA and Ethiopia ) where you still have certain liabilities towards in your case the US - IRS irrespective where you live. I know from a very good married friend of mine who was a on visit to his parents in Michigan held up in Detroit immigrations because he who at that point in time has lived and worked for several years in France didn't complete certain reports for the IRS. As a consequence he revoked his US Citizenship as he didn't want to do this anymore. A more prominent example in this contaxt is the current British Prime Minister Boris Johnson who was born in the US and henceforth automatic an American Citizen. He was reprimanded by the IRS as well. So in short: get that checked very carefully by a very good tax expert. Smaller ones might not even know this. Last but not least: Banks in Europe and many many other countries are mandated my the so-called FATCA act ( www.irs.gov/businesses/corporations/foreign-account-tax-compliance-act-fatca ) to report to the uS tax authorities. A reason why many banks in Germany ( and elsewhere ! ) don't open accounts for US Citizens anymore or have asked existing customers to close their accounts.

Hi Marko. Great question - technically mini-jobs aren't time based (e.g. how many hours per week/month). It simply stipulates that on average you only earn 450 euros or less. That being said, if your mini-job pays you minimum wage (9,60/hour), then the maximum you could work per month would be just under 47 hours (if my math is correct) . However, mini jobs can come at a variety of pay ranges. Mine was 16 euros per hour and I worked about 1 day per week.

After two years of this employment, any type of employment is permitted". My main job employment is only 1 year running. Now I got a minijob as cashier (24hrs/month). And now the minijob company noticed statement in additional sheet and they denied me to work with them. Can I not really have a minijob? I searched in the internet but go no answer related to my case.

I never expected that the pandemic would keep us in a holding pattern for this long. Since I’m now a German citizen, I’m subject to the continuing travel ban. Just starting to appreciate how big the Black Forest is. We’re considering one week in the southern part and one in the north. Any suggestions for vacation homes? We’re planning on doing self catering, maximizing privacy.
Try contacting the tourist information of places you like, looking for Ferienwohnungen. Good place would be any of the little villages along the Bodensee. There is a good chance to find one just meters from the lake. If not go for 5-10 km north. Still being in Baden-Württemberg the incidence is very low there. To the north part of the Schwarzwald I would recommend Freudenstadt or one of the little villages around there. Low incidence around there as well, so hotels are ok, too

The most recent developments that I know about are: - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has „demanded“ that the US end their travel ban - the EU is considering reinstating the travel ban for US citizens - the US is working on a plan by which it would be mandatory for incoming travelers to be vaccinated. It is unclear whether those vaccinated by AstraZenica would qualify as it hasn’t been approved for us in the United States. The reporting about these discussions that I’m aware of describes them as preliminary and don’t specify when the travel ban itself might be lifted. So, if you have anything more specific beyond that, I would be interested to hear about it.

The child benefit (Kindergeld) is a monthly payment given to all parents in Germany, regardless of their income, to ensure that their children's basic needs are covered. so even if you have just a mini-job, you should still receive it. But keep in mind, only one parent receives this as part of their monthly income.

I don't understand why you couldn't have one unless there is a clause in your work permit that prohibits you from doing so. You need to have your primary employers approval before taking on a mini-job so perhaps they would be unwilling to allow it? I would highly suggest contacting the "Mini-Job-Zentrale" for your questions as they will also be the organization that you signup for the position through anyway.
Sorry, I am afraid there could be a misunderstanding: Those Minijobs are supposed to be SECONDARY jobs. As far as I know, 'only' working in different Minijobs to get all income is not allowed as Ashton told. It has to be mentioned, that in Germany social insurance and paying income tax is very important - for example any person has to have an health insurance. So - as Ashton told, you have to have another way to have social insurance might be another job, as a student (they get special low tarifs in social insurance) or via spouse. Social insurance will get an contribution by the employer - but the worker doesn't benefit on it. I don't like that so much as Ashton. - they were created by government to reduce "black jobs" (Ashton, please translate). - they offer an easy and comfortable way for taxes and social insurance to the employer. - the amount of money is often used to press wages. The limit is set - now define what has to be done for the money ( ... that's often more than to be done in a regular employment).

If you earn more than 450 € in total for different minijobs, you have to pay taxes etc., the administration part is becoming more important. Overall, I agree that you have to be careful with those minijobs. It's ok for students, moms in Elternzeit or even retired people, as long as you do it for a limited time. But if you work long-term only with minijobs, you will not collect points for the retirement system, so you might find yourself in a bad situation later.

A Mini - Job don t apply for Arbeitslosengeld 1. * Arbeitosengeld (unemploymemt benefit) 1 (based on your previous salary) 2 (in fact it s social care money) for everyone - If you are eligable for it, depend s on many other rules.
