Thank you, this really resonated with me. I feel my channel has stagnated and that is partly because how I come across on camera (and partly because of the content). I have already realized that I need to practise and experiment but it feels so awkward!
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful for you. It DOES feel awkward, but over time it gets easier. One thing I didn't elaborate on in the video was that I now have about 900+ videos in my Loom account, so I've had at least 600 - 700 videos of practice prior to starting my UA-cam channel and you can STILL scroll back to those first 20 UA-cam videos and notice a difference (between then & now) in how I "talk at" (or just "talk facing") the camera, versus "talk to" the camera now. It's a small change, but makes a big difference! So just try to forget that it's a camera and, and just be more of yourself; that's what people will latch onto best because it feels the most authentic. Laugh or make a joke if that's natural, go off script if you get excited about something & want to talk about that more -you can always edit that out later if you need to! For me too, I can't write scripts for my videos or it'll sound like I'm reading (because I would be). Instead, I just make a bullet point list of the topics I want to make sure I remember to cover and look at my notes periodically during the recording, then edit that out before I publish.
