I greatly appreciate this detailed analysis from someone who doesn’t make fight content. In fact, that will make you even more objective about this fight. I completely agree with you. I think it’ was a fixed outcome but with an open script. It’s like when sparring in the gym, both fighters will agree on how hard they will spar ie: light sparring, 50% strength, full sparring, etc. Although that concept is still subjective, it tries to manage the intent and expectation of how that sparring session will go. To further support that notion, there were moments that almost stray from the desired outcome and both Jake and Mike had to reset. One was in the 2nd or 3rd round when Mike got caught and wobbled, it took him the rest of the round and even the next round to recover. And as a result you can see both fighters let off the gas, which caused the inaction. Conversely, in the earlier rounds, there were definitely times where Mike pulled his punches. It is such a Tyson move to weave and follow with a leaping hook or jab, a move that he had success at first, but then later he stopped short of the punch because it worked too well. I didn’t like the fight, but if it was not pre determined, we could’ve gotten what a repeat of Evander Holyfield vs Victor Belfort. That said, Jake Paul fights are all a farce and I personally won’t go into his “fights” with any emotional attachment.

If the match was agreed upon in any way it is fixed. Jake could have easily knocked Tyson out after the first round. The fight was fixed. Illegitimate. Boxing is fake as wrestling. Tyson turned GAY. Jake was born that way.
I believe you’re right about that, towngirl, though I didn’t get a strong impression that Tyson held back until I watched Spidey’s reaction. Once Paul got comfortable, he took a few swings that knocked Tyson off-balance. Paul definitely held back after that. I honestly thought he didn’t want to have Tyson’s “last match” to be of him hitting his knees in the 3rd round. I think that would have been a bit traumatic for me, honestly. 😅
@@VA_MamaBearI'm not a big boxing fan or anything, kinda just have respect for the art. So I'm no expert lol. But did you see him practice? I thought he'd still be decent tbh but not what looked like to me to be lightening fast. When I saw that I was flabbergasted he didn't look the same in the fight. This will relate I promise lol, but I've always wanted to be in top shape in case I have a bad meeting with a man. Men have a natural advantage so I've always if I can fight back very quickly, I may have a chance. I will not last as long unless he's very out of shape. And actually, this did work for me before. So why didn't Mike Tyson go crazy and knock him out? He can't last as long. I'm not sure if that translates or not, but its interesting to talk about the fight as such. Maybe they couldn't knock each other so they're holding back and that's why it could feel artificial and off. Little tin foil hat but oh well, lol.
5:49 is the biggest clue for me. When he says 'a youtuber fighting the greatest fighter that... ever lived' he hesitates because Mike has always said Ali was the greatest fighter of all time. The pause suggests a conflict in his mind, but he chooses option B to hype up the fight and follow the script so to speak. He's always maintained that Ali was better than him.
Everytime Mike went to throw an uppercut he stopped.. That is Tyson's knockout punch.. I have no doubt Mike would have knocked Jake Paul the fuck out, if he'd followed through with any of those uppercuts..
Yeah, most of the gambling was done on Jake Paul’s app. So not only do 20 million for the fight. He also won all of the money that was that bet on his platform. I would be highly surprised if the massive lawsuit doesn’t stem from that.

if you watch all of mikes past fights those two clips you showed from the first round are literally the *EXACT* setups for %85 of his knockouts, capitalizing on those exact moments are what made mike the champ, so for him to not even try twice in first round i think is nearly undisputable evidence to prove your point, watch a mike Tyson highlight video and then watch those two clips again and even without any of the other evidence you'd still think there something up with this fight, those are his signature opportunities. You do a great job with your videos and I really enjoy your abundant knowledge in this challenging discipline.

My thoughts exactly, there is no way Tyson would not have thrown that punch and Paul was wide open. Mike fought nothing like he did in past fights. Tyson fought slow and sloppy...like Jake Paul.
@CurtWoods-fd7qz he pulled his punches. Mike has money. He set up his family for life wo him. It was easy to pull this off because everyone would say father time is undefeated. Mike didn't even try to hit him. it is mind blowing that people really believe Mike was too old. If you know anything about boxing Jake had 10 oz gloves and Mike's were the biggest gloves I have ever seen in a pro fight. Yall have eyes....watch it again.
I think Jake, despite everything, couldn't get a good read on Mike, and therefore wouldn't go balls out,...he gradually gained a little confidence as Mike appeared to slow down, so he stepped it up. AND, like you said, after that bow, he still stepped back, still not trusting fully that Mike wouldn't save the final smash for the end. Only Mike knows how much this was or wasnt a gift to Jake, including no uppercut in the first 2 rounds. Irregardless, Mike wasn't rehabbed enough yet. Age is a factor obviously, but it makes more sense that he wasn't feeling well enough yet, but wouldn't quit. I agree that there was a definite "direction" and controlled environment😉
Mike Tyson has lost a daughter before. Then he almost died in the middle of the year. When a person goes through a near death experience, his immediate concerns besides himself, is his family. That explains why Tyson said that only his kids and grand kids would think of him. Bcuz he did think of them. It’s quite obvious that Tyson wanted to leave money behind for his family, especially if he is in poor health. That motivation trumps his ego/his thoughts about legacy which obviously he had when he was younger. When a man thinks like that, he has won my respect. Regardless whether the match was fixed anot. I loved watching his 'Documentary'..done as a 'one man show'..I'lld say..for lack of better word (English not being my 1'st language, so I'm hoping this will do..) 'The indisputed Truth'. What a delight that was to watch. I saw it twice..and only just recently, but I'm glad I did. He was so open and yeah..at the end he talked about the loss of his daughter. Except that money will not guarantee his family happiness, and he's had plenty of money himself over the years and look what trouble it brought with it. Deceiving fans as he did for the sake of money is not leaving his family with the best example of how a great champion behaves. Neither is fixing a sanctioned bout to make money, the best way to thank the sport of boxing that gave him the opportunity to become as successful as he did.

Mike Tyson has been trying to distance himself from his boxing career. He's said multiple times that he doesn't like who he was as a person back then, and he's scared of training because he might become that guy again.

I think you hit the nail on the head. It wasn't scripted move for move, or else it would have been more eventful. It is clear though, Paul and Tyson had an agreement not to knock each other out and that it would be a light sparring.

IMHO this was fixed. They both made a fortune and they saw it as a spectacle, not a fight. The Paul brothers are always involved in one scam or an other, why would this be any different?
Keep in mind, they knew the outcome of the fight, which means they could have people bet on the fight as proxy… but, only if it was billed as a legit boxing match. Tyson walked away with 50-100 million.

“Down to 10 million” - I mean, the wife could get 3 million and each kid a million, and have a pretty sweet start on life. Definitely a different perspective on money than I have, and I suspect most people have.
Mike has several different steady sources of decent income as well as millions already before this fight, I would not exactly say he needed this money but more is always beneficial
Spidey, I think your analysis is spot on. I am REALLY glad you called attention to the opportunities early on when Tyson could have knocked him out but passed. Tyson's style has always been to knock out in the first or second round. I had not noticed that. Showing us those 2 clear examples shows that the fight definitely had a plan to keep both athletes rep intact. It makes me feel a lot better realizing that Tyson could've knocked out Jake Paul in the beginning. You also back that theory up by pointing out Tyson wasnt riled up pre-fight and he described it just as it went down.

Tyson has said many times legacy is not important. He has said his belts are garbage now. He said when he was younger that was his goal. His focus. He says legacy is about pride and ego. But as he grew up, life happens and he had Children, lost a child, faced death, and he said he realizes legacy and being remebered by strangers is not the priority of life. Your people are the priority. Its who you want to remember you. Its who is in the inner circle that matter. Legacy leaves a boxing career memory - not the same as your family remembering your personality and who you really are. He got the tats when he was young. He has different perspectives at 60 than when his youth Grief and loss and facing death changes your priorities. He chose to provide for rhe family over pride and ego. So for me, it makes sense what he said. They played trash for the hype. Prob some predetermined things. But in the end had alot of respect.

Lip compression before the fight shows he was holding back what he wanted to say. Lip biting during the fight may have been holding back what he wanted to do. He pulled his punches several times. I believe he was paid to lose. Late money came down on Paul who went from -190 to -210 right before fight. Not a pay per view event may speak volumes. They know it was an exhibition but couldn’t say it.

I want to extend a personal note of gratitude. Depression is an unpleasant companion in my life. You are spot on about Mike’s facial muscles correlating to his disease. There’s a HBO/MAX documentary called, “Boy Interrupted”. A young boy started experiencing depression at a very early age. He committed suicide at 15. Upon reviewing footage of his childhood, they noticed the muscles in his face began to slacken as he matured. A cautionary tale to extend empathy and compassion; a kind act could save someone’s life! ❤

I have been a fan of Mike Tyson from day one, I believe this show was to help Mike T to make some money, he's not well, and I can feel a neurological illness, maybe early stages of Parkinson. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty good at reading people. I wish him the best 👍
I own Academy of Martial Arts and teach Boxing, Krav Maga Taekwondo and Kickboxing. I think I agree 95% with your conclusions. I want to add, Mike T. Stifled mist of his signature combos. That's REALLY hard to do. Once you start a combo you just follow through, whether you connect or not. Ending it, dropping out of the automatic muscle routine is rough. It looks awkward, and leaves you open. And I witnessed that throughout most the fight. Except the last few rounds I noticed he would push back , not forward, then work his hips and shoulders in the direction he would have if he were throwing his double body blow-Hook or Double body blow uppercut.

I noticed one of the first things Jake Paul mentioned after the fight is how they broke Netflix. That’s not what the first thing most boxers, think about, or even know after that last round.
For me, the score said it all. It was crazy unlikely The caution part you mentioned from Jake i think it could be that he knows that Mike could change his mind at any moment and knock him out. Considering that if there was some kind of contract signed between them it probably wouldn't be valid, just my opinion.
it does sound like Mike's mindset has shifted towards his family, based on how much he has mentioned them. Maybe he didn't believe that he could win??? but I agree that it also seems like he did not want to knock out Jake during the fight so idk. however the phrase "playing not to lose… instead of playing to win." comes to mind. Jake definitely had the better mindset (ahem, trained by Marczell.) and whether it was for selfish reasons (his brand) or respect for Tyson's legacy we will never know, but I think we can agree that Jake took his foot off of the gas in the final rounds. You could almost argue that they both won, just in their own ways. Choosing to remember someone doesn't mean you automatically care or attend to HOW they are remembered. Its just a conscious choice to remember that said person, place or thing how you choose. Mike was highlighting how we care so much about how others will remember us (legacy) vs our daily record and vision of ourselves. This guys observation, though good, shows that he missed Mike's point. I don't condone Mike's language with the kid but I understand why he chooses not to care for legacy(what others thinks of himself or another person)

Interesting when you spoke about the interview with the young girl and talking about legacy. At the end, he said, "Nobody cares about ME... except MY kids and grandkids." Rather than the generic 'your kids'. That said a lot to me. But I love the idea of him passing over the legacy topic because he wanted to minimize the topic here.
Spidey! Can you look at the beginning right before they fight, and they touch gloves? I noticed that Jake is crying, and trying to hold back emotion quite a bit. He cried at the end too, when talking to Tyson. Pre-determined or not, it seems like Paul was very moved by facing Tyson in a ring. I think his reasons changed during the fight, and he felt the “honor” when Tyson entered the ring. He felt what is older folks have felt for a long time…this man exudes the legend persona, and I think Jake Paul suddenly didn’t want to see Tyson struggle in his potential “last fight” any more than we wanted to see that.

He bites his gloves 21:50 because he fights in "peek-a-boo" style.. It's part of the technique.. the biting of the gloves forces you to keep your chin down, with your hands up, while you peek over the top of the gloves & press forward.. Cus'Demato taught him peekaboo style when was 13.. It's the only style of boxing Mike's ever done or seems to know.. also, he's kinda the perfect build for "peekaboo style", which is why Cus chose it for him..

Tyson was the last "ranked / popular" boxer to ever use it.. it's also a really hard style to master.. plus it's super old.. it's one of the original styles of boxing from like the early to mid 1900's.. Tyson was special because he was the only one doing peekaboo style at a high level, while all other boxers were trained in "traditional style" boxing which is a more well rounded style.. the reason why Tyson was so successful, was because no one could handle, nor knew how to defend against his peekaboo style ..

A few things I caught right off were the interview he did with the young lady about him not caring about his legacy, the next thing was the biting on his glove during the fight, he had plenty of opportunity to hit JP with a wrath of combos but he held back, the third was when he talked about being able to take care of his family that’s why he did the fight. So those three things made me think he definitely threw the fight. I grew up watching Tyson fight he is a beast. JP seems to only Challange retired fighters or older fighters.
I think you got it exactly. Not scripted, but definitely directed. Now let's everyone completely ignore Jake Paul and make his name disappear, as it should. He, and arguably Tyson, too, have disgraced the sport of boxing by allowing someone like him to beat one of the greatest boxers in history. A better premise than it was staged is that Tyson knew he might lose because he knew his health had gone downhill. But he kept that to himself because he wanted the payday. Maybe before his medical issues this summer he had a better shot and he would have been more determined to win. We will never know. I think he came in and did his best. Jake Paul kept his distance because that was the safest way to fight Tyson, especially since he knew he could win on points pretty early on. Tyson didn’t throw certain punches because he saw the distance, his legs weren’t working, and he wanted to save the energy to last through the fight. They didn’t have to collude on a staged storyline for all of this to make sense.
Thank you. I think you explained it the best. Tyson didn't want to waste energy trying to go for the knockout and then make himself vulnerable to get knocked out himself. Because he knew he was gonna loose, he had to conserve the energy. So he was a bit cautious. I think if he had a clear chance at a knockout he would have taken it, but due to his health and knee he wasn't confident and confidence is a major factor.
Tyson definitely pulled some of his punches, especially early on when he was at his most dangerous. Iron Mike is dead, but Ferrous Sulfate Mike is just getting started. I'm joking, obviously, but I genuinely appreciate your take on this "fight," Spidey.

I completely agree with you. I think it’ was a fixed outcome but with an open script. It’s like when sparring in the gym, both fighters will agree on how hard they will spar ie: light sparring, 50% strength, full sparring, etc. Although that concept is still subjective, it tries to manage the intent and expectation of how that sparring session will go.
To further support that notion, there were moments that almost stray from the desired outcome and both Jake and Mike had to reset. One was in the 2nd or 3rd round when Mike got caught and wobbled, it took him the rest of the round and even the next round to recover. And as a result you can see both fighters let off the gas, which caused the inaction. Conversely, in the earlier rounds, there were definitely times where Mike pulled his punches. It is such a Tyson move to weave and follow with a leaping hook or jab, a move that he had success at first, but then later he stopped short of the punch because it worked too well.
I didn’t like the fight, but if it was not pre determined, we could’ve gotten what a repeat of Evander Holyfield vs Victor Belfort. That said, Jake Paul fights are all a farce and I personally won’t go into his “fights” with any emotional attachment.

I honestly thought he didn’t want to have Tyson’s “last match” to be of him hitting his knees in the 3rd round. I think that would have been a bit traumatic for me, honestly. 😅

I thought he'd still be decent tbh but not what looked like to me to be lightening fast. When I saw that I was flabbergasted he didn't look the same in the fight. Men have a natural advantage so I've always if I can fight back very quickly, I may have a chance. I will not last as long unless he's very out of shape. And actually, this did work for me before. 5:49 is the biggest clue for me. When he says 'a youtuber fighting the greatest fighter that... ever lived' he hesitates because Mike has always said Ali was the greatest fighter of all time. The pause suggests a conflict in his mind, but he chooses option B to hype up the fight and follow the script so to speak. He's always maintained that Ali was better than him.

if you watch all of mikes past fights those two clips you showed from the first round are literally the *EXACT* setups for %85 of his knockouts, capitalizing on those exact moments are what made mike the champ, so for him to not even try twice in first round i think is nearly undisputable evidence to prove your point, watch a mike Tyson highlight video and then watch those two clips again and even without any of the other evidence you'd still think there something up with this fight, those are his signature opportunities. I think Jake, despite everything, couldn't get a good read on Mike, and therefore wouldn't go balls out,...he gradually gained a little confidence as Mike appeared to slow down, so he stepped it up. AND, like you said, after that bow, he still stepped back, still not trusting fully that Mike wouldn't save the final smash for the end. Only Mike knows how much this was or wasnt a gift to Jake, including no uppercut in the first 2 rounds. Irregardless, Mike wasn't rehabbed enough yet. Age is a factor obviously, but it makes more sense that he wasn't feeling well enough yet, but wouldn't quit.

Mike Tyson has lost a daughter before. Then he almost died in the middle of the year. When a person goes through a near death experience, his immediate concerns besides himself, is his family. That explains why Tyson said that only his kids and grand kids would think of him. Bcuz he did think of them.

When they asked Mike to make a prediction on the fight, he said, "Mike Tyson will be successful." Not "I will win this fight" or "I will knock him out" or anything else. Mike Tyson will be successful. And he was right, he was, because he got paid either way.🥊💵

Tyson's style has always been to knock out in the first or second round. I had not noticed that. Showing us those 2 clear examples shows that the fight definitely had a plan to keep both athletes rep intact. It makes me feel a lot better realizing that Tyson could've knocked out Jake Paul in the beginning. You also back that theory up by pointing out Tyson wasnt riled up pre-fight and he described it just as it went down.
Fitness, technique and skill are nothing without heart. Tyson was not interested in winning. This was just another day at the office to pay those medical bills.

There’s a HBO/MAX documentary called, “Boy Interrupted”. A young boy started experiencing depression at a very early age. He committed suicide at 15. Upon reviewing footage of his childhood, they noticed the muscles in his face began to slacken as he matured.

It wasn't fake. As stated at begining Tyson was sick, its 58 years old, JP is young and strong and has boxing skills, not the best, but has.
I have been a fan of Mike Tyson from day one, I believe this show was to help Mike T to make some money, he's not well, and I can feel a neurological illness, maybe early stages of Parkinson. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty good at reading people. I wish him the best 👍
I own Academy of Martial Arts and teach Boxing, Krav Maga Taekwondo and Kickboxing. I think I agree 95% with your conclusions. I want to add, Mike T. Stifled mist of his signature combos. That's REALLY hard to do. Once you start a combo you just follow through, whether you connect or not. Ending it, dropping out of the automatic muscle routine is rough. It looks awkward, and leaves you open. And I witnessed that throughout most the fight. Except the last few rounds I noticed he would push back , not forward, then work his hips and shoulders in the direction he would have if he were throwing his double body blow-Hook or Double body blow uppercut.

I noticed one of the first things Jake Paul mentioned after the fight is how they broke Netflix. That’s not what the first thing most boxers, think about, or even know after that last round.

The caution part you mentioned from Jake i think it could be that he knows that Mike could change his mind at any moment and knock him out. Considering that if there was some kind of contract signed between them it probably wouldn't be valid, just my opinion.

it does sound like Mike's mindset has shifted towards his family, based on how much he has mentioned them. Maybe he didn't believe that he could win??? but I agree that it also seems like he did not want to knock out Jake during the fight so idk. however the phrase "playing not to lose… instead of playing to win." comes to mind.
Jake definitely had the better mindset (ahem, trained by Marczell.) and whether it was for selfish reasons (his brand) or respect for Tyson's legacy we will never know, but I think we can agree that Jake took his foot off of the gas in the final rounds.
You could almost argue that they both won, just in their own ways.

Choosing to remember someone doesn't mean you automatically care or attend to HOW they are remembered. Its just a conscious choice to remember that said person, place or thing how you choose. Mike was highlighting how we care so much about how others will remember us (legacy) vs our daily record and vision of ourselves. This guys observation, though good, shows that he missed Mike's point. I don't condone Mike's language with the kid but I understand why he chooses not to care for legacy(what others thinks of himself or another person)

Spidey! Can you look at the beginning right before they fight, and they touch gloves? I noticed that Jake is crying, and trying to hold back emotion quite a bit. He cried at the end too, when talking to Tyson. Pre-determined or not, it seems like Paul was very moved by facing Tyson in a ring. I think his reasons changed during the fight, and he felt the “honor” when Tyson entered the ring. He felt what is older folks have felt for a long time…this man exudes the legend persona, and I think Jake Paul suddenly didn’t want to see Tyson struggle in his potential “last fight” any more than we wanted to see that.
He’s also said that Tyson is his dad’s favorite boxer. So this for sure meant a lot to him. 😊

He bites his gloves 21:50 because he fights in "peek-a-boo" style.. It's part of the technique.. the biting of the gloves forces you to keep your chin down, with your hands up, while you peek over the top of the gloves & press forward.. Cus'Demato taught him peekaboo style when was 13.. It's the only style of boxing Mike's ever done or seems to know.. also, he's kinda the perfect build for "peekaboo style", which is why Cus chose it for him..

Tyson was the last "ranked / popular" boxer to ever use it.. it's also a really hard style to master.. plus it's super old.. it's one of the original styles of boxing from like the early to mid 1900's.. Tyson was special because he was the only one doing peekaboo style at a high level, while all other boxers were trained in "traditional style" boxing which is a more well rounded style.. the reason why Tyson was so successful, was because no one could handle, nor knew how to defend against his peekaboo style ..
The bites this time were way over the top. He was like mentally married to doing it. Weird

A few things I caught right off were the interview he did with the young lady about him not caring about his legacy, the next thing was the biting on his glove during the fight, he had plenty of opportunity to hit JP with a wrath of combos but he held back, the third was when he talked about being able to take care of his family that’s why he did the fight. So those three things made me think he definitely threw the fight. I grew up watching Tyson fight he is a beast. JP seems to only Challange retired fighters or older fighters.
Or non-fighters. Imo, anyone currently boxing doesn't take Jake Paul seriously and doesn't consider him a "real" boxer. I know I don't.
I think you got it exactly. Not scripted, but definitely directed. Now let's everyone completely ignore Jake Paul and make his name disappear, as it should. He, and arguably Tyson, too, have disgraced the sport of boxing by allowing someone like him to beat one of the greatest boxers in history. I know Mike may have done it to be able to pay all those hefty bills and leave some for his family, but damn..
My " Spidey Sense " was tingling. I almost went to bed, glad I didn't.
A better premise than it was staged is that Tyson knew he might lose because he knew his health had gone downhill. But he kept that to himself because he wanted the payday. Maybe before his medical issues this summer he had a better shot and he would have been more determined to win. We will never know. I think he came in and did his best. Jake Paul kept his distance because that was the safest way to fight Tyson, especially since he knew he could win on points pretty early on. Tyson didn’t throw certain punches because he saw the distance, his legs weren’t working, and he wanted to save the energy to last through the fight. They didn’t have to collude on a staged storyline for all of this to make sense.
Thank you. I think you explained it the best. Tyson didn't want to waste energy trying to go for the knockout and then make himself vulnerable to get knocked out himself. Because he knew he was gonna loose, he had to conserve the energy. So he was a bit cautious. I think if he had a clear chance at a knockout he would have taken it, but due to his health and knee he wasn't confident and confidence is a major factor.
Tyson definitely pulled some of his punches, especially early on when he was at his most dangerous. Iron Mike is dead, but Ferrous Sulfate Mike is just getting started. I'm joking, obviously, but I genuinely appreciate your take on this "fight," Spidey.

Yeah, confirmation bias ("arguing from a conclusion") is a distractor from critical thinking, and I appreciate how you point out these aspects to your audience here. I barely even paid attention to this event, and didn't watch it, but based on what I know about Jake Paul, and Mike's "mindset change" *(which I think may come from a realization of pain he caused to others he cares about when he was pursuing and focusing on glory, where his current rejection of "legacy" is a polarization against his old self which his current self now despises)* ... based on these, I had the same idea you did about it not being scripted, but directed for the narrative benefit

My wife asks me a lot if I’m alright just to check in due to the fact that I did deal with depression most of my life and she’s been there to help me through it, which is now in much more control these days, but the resting face itself hasn’t changed sadly.
That all being said, I can understand that he probably looks that way with his known depression that has held him down. Totally plausible conclusion.
