I was editor of Australian Auto Action magazine when Marcos was racing in Europe. He rang me one deadline night to ask if there anything I could do to help him raise his profile at home (he was already planning his return to Australia) and I gave him a weekly column I dubbed 'Ambrose Action', the logo for which you can see as he flips through his press cuttings. We always had a great relationship which continued when he joined V8 Supercars and became so successful. He was a great intelligent driver who did amazingly well against overwhelming odds - personal, technical, cultural and especially financial - in NASCAR.
As a young Holden fan (Skaifey fan) I was chuffed when he left one of the biggest contenders gone. When I got a bit older I realised what the series missed and barracked for him in every nascar race absolute champion driver one of the best us Aussies have ever produced!
I think Brad Keslowski's comments about Marcos after their epic Watkins Glen finish really speaks the loudest about the respect Marcos was held in by his fellow Cup drivers
And we couldn't be happier to have him here in the States! Class act all around. Wonderful ambassador for NASCAR and better yet turned me on to V8 Supercars. Win-Win!
Great video. He really did it the hard way. He didn’t take a lot of money with him. So had to work up from the bottom. He was at the top of the pile in Australia, As a Ford guy he could have stayed at the top in Australia. I am not a fan but have total respect for Marcus, I have grown out of being a fan.
Cool vid. He's doing alot better this year with Richard Petty Motorsports. I think he'd really shine with one of the bigger teams like Roush or Hendrick. I hope he sticks around for a long time.
Champion driver got me tuning into dome-car, amazing he got to the top level and even won some races, hopefully he does some co-driving in the enduros when he comes back, Lowndes/Ambrose pairing at Bathurst 2018 I reckon
He came back to Australia and went back to v8 supercars and lasted 1 race.. couldnt handle it back here.. should of stayed in nascar as he was doing so well
A little unfair . I think he only raced once when he came back. It’s not like he could go out & get some laps because that’s what he needed. Supercar rules do not allow that. He still had the ability.Ambrose is a top line driver, a few races he would have been up there again. Definitely one of the very best Super Car & Touring Car drivers in Australia.
@bjm351 ... You're right, we do dream about him - him at Bathurst, so nice to wake up with a smile on your face. By your long winded comment you seem the one a bit upset, maybe it's you with the nightmares. =P
The on,y thing I dislike about Ambrose is his choose of car, he is clearly Ford, whilst I am Holden. I am even from the same state in Australia as him.

Its a shame he couldnt give it a fare go when he came back to v8 supercars

Marcos is an awesome driver, and a great guy! So glad he went to NASCAR!!! Definitely has made a name for himself! Great things to come for Ambrose!
what a legend and genuine nice guy. i'm glad that he's representing aus to the world.
Marcos should be on a top nascar team, so he can win more
MARCOS AMBROSE IS AWESOME
this is gold
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS!!!!!!!
He said he would leave Australia and come back in about 6 months it's been 8 years and he still hasn't left lol

fat cat Ambrose won't get anywhere near a Commodore. That's the problem.
I can't seem to read these remarks without some kind of southern twang in my head.
Thanks Lukey
Those T shirts are bullying Marcos Ambrose ha ha ha

20:20 Sounds like James Hetfield's voice
He was great on the road courses, but he was useless on the ovals.
