Obviously Andrew is a god in the industry so I hope he doesn't take this the wrong way but I feel he let himself and the model/client down a bit in this one. A few small changes would have made a big difference in this shoot. First, he's over-directing, he's stressed and the model is stressed. Maybe should have spent a 15 - 20 minutes practice session on posing without camera and with clothes on. Second someone, the client or the studio, needed to invest a few bucks in HMU (hair and make-up). Possibly the client didn't have a big budget (which is why she agreed for her shoot to be used as tutorial I bet) but getting her to look good and feel good would definitely result in repeat business and referrals. Every woman including Cindy Crawford is insecure about something, make her happy and she will love to work with you. Lastly, shooting in jpeg, using an in-camera profile and delivering images to the client straight out of camera is a complete no-no in my world. The whole point of a professional shoot is not the shooting, it's the final result and that means editing. If nothing else a little work on the histogram, a bit of dodge and burn and at a minimum a bit of the clarity slider for the skin (it's a bikini shoot - there is a LOT of skin).
I am constantly amazed at how much good, solid content you put into your videos. Much appreciated. It reminded me of a friend who did boudoir photography. Mostly it involved women getting sexy photos for their boyfriends and husbands. He said it was the most “un-sexy” work he ever did because most of the time their “sexy, bedroom face” just looked like they were about to throw up.
