Thanks for this Awesome Video It sold me to buy a Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster To me this is the Ultimate Stratocaster Amazing Awesome Gorgeous TONE AND VIBRATO AND SOUND THANKS FOR THIS INFORMATIVE VIDEO
+ANDYB1478 The specs are the same between the production line Clapton and the Team-Built CS Claption - you're only paying for the CS team to use their wood (supposedly they get first pick of what comes in the door, then it goes to the production line) and have their people build it using their machinery (they do have their own routers, etc.). Also the "Eric Clapton" signature decal is relocated to the back of the headstock.
Late to the party but in case anyone is reading this now- the specs are, in fact, not the same. CS uses a 2-piece body (3-5 for production line), the body is also routed for single coils only on the CS (production body is routed for humbucker), no tilt adjust on CS neck required either. Definitely different animals. Whether you can hear/feel the difference would, of course, be a matter of debate like anything else. I think the CS versions are noticeably nicer but some people say they can't tell
I must admit, I don't particularly like that boosted sound AT ALL, sounds kind of mushy and muddy to me, I'd rather use a decent boost or OD pedal for this, with better results. Clapton doesn't like to use pedals or effects, that's a known fact, so he's had this boost built into the guitar.
I have the guitar and i dont like it. It muddies the tone when playing chords with a clean tone. Even when you turn the mid down, just doesn't sound right. Im trying to sell it.
@@bendagostino2217 I've noticed with this circuit, if your battery isn't almost new, the muddy happens and gets worse. With a brand new battery, it sounds a lot better. Perhaps not for you, but just in case you haven't tried a new battery...if so, sorry. I do think the vintage noiseless pickups are quite boring without the circuit. Maybe just try putting some new pickups in, if you like the guitar that is. I highly recommend Kinman's Clapton set, they're not a fan of the fender circuit either.
The best guitar players I've personally met are 'guitar-boost-valve amp' kind of guys. The players I'm speaking of include Mick Taylor, Brian May, Buddy Guy, BB King, Micky Moody, Randy Bachman etc - not one of them has an overdrive pedal - seeing these players really opened my eyes to a different way of using Amps. I've been experimenting with going without overdrive for a couple months. My tone is a lot better - and my signal chain is quieter. Work with it, don't fight it - if you don't like how your amp breaks up, try a different one? 🤷♂️
No one sounds like Clapton except Clapton......sorry Greg love your playing, but not even close...... I have a 57 Hot Rod Strat I got in 2007..... Great sounding guitar at a third of the price......get a tube screamer and save tons of dough .....
They should call those pickups "soulless".... The Lace sensors killed these pickups. I have two very early EC Strats with the Lace sensors and I really do prefer them. These noiseless pickups just sound sterile to me!
I have one of these strats and the pickups are amazing and far from soulless, I also have a early strat plus with lace sensors, they are good but I much prefer the noiseless pickups,.The Jeff Beck strat also uses a noiseless pickup set...probably safe to assume that Beck and Clapton would avoid 'soulless' pickups 😁. It's a matter of taste though, it would be a dull world if we all agreed on everything
He could be reviewing anything, I just love watching him play.
I think Greg Koch should be the only person allowed to do gear demos from now on.
Good review. You showed the versatility well! Surprising how it can do so much for a Strat.
Thanks!
now THATS how you do a guitar demo !! he never mentioned any other brand or model, just demonstrated the guitar features to perfection.
My dream guitar.
I have the production model of this Stratocaster 🙂
@@tomrosa4248 I hope you know how lucky you are 👏🏻
I don't care what he's playing, Greg is just entertaining to watch and listen to.
Wow i mean wow.. Is there 5 Dumble amps behind Mr Koch ?!!?

Great review as always. Cheers
With an OCD pedal and a MXR Uni Vibe you’re going to sound like Trower/ Hendrix oh yeah
I have a Clapton Stratocaster, Best Guitar I’ve Ever had , But I would never waiste Money on a Custom Stratocaster
I have the production model of this Stratocaster, I too wouldn't buy the CS version.

+Guitar Nut that's what the middle tone control is for (5-10). try it...it works with the boost. :)

A bad workman. Comes to mind

Back when it was a true guitar review. Talking about specs, sound etc. now, it's just 2 minutes of gibberish talk
