Working Artist Vlog 38: Australian Piano Hinge Book

- The Piano Hinge Binding is so named because the way the spine is woven together resembles the hinge on a piano lid. The traditional material for the binding are bamboo skewers. The Australian Piano Hinge Binding reverses the direction of the hinges and uses paper instead of bamboo skewers. This is also sometimes called an Australian Flat Reverse Piano Hinge Binding. Thanks for watching! - Навчання та стиль
This is my favorite binging. I love how the papers hold it place and can also be coordinated with the pages.
Binding 😂
Very cute, and versatile idea. Thanks for the share.
You are so welcome!
I love to make books to use for my daily art journals!! This is a new technique for me- I can’t wait to try it!!😍❤️
Have fun!
This is great -- I love that you can take a signature out to work in it!
Me too!
What an interesting binding technique - thank you for sharing. I love that you can take it apart to get at the pages easily and then put it back together again if need be. What do you do to 'laminate' your tissue paper? Would matt medium on the gelplate do it, perhaps?
I laminate it. With a laminator.
What an amazing technique. Thank you for sharing. One question: What weight of paper do you use for signatures? I know you want it heavy enough to handle wet mediums, but not too heavy for the book.
I used drawing paper.
Thank you. I made one yesterday--love it!@@BalzerDesigns
