I love everything about this. Brings back so many memories of being on the playground talking about what keys or emblems were hidden where. I miss games like this before the internet or I even knew about strategy guides.

The first zombie that eat Kenneth gave me nightmares for 2 weeks back in 1996, had to wait a lot before seeing my brother playing it again, lol.
Barry is very inquisitive, never being afraid to question reality and ponder what exactly everything is
They released a comic about Barry after re 1 where he went to psychiatrist and making him believe all that happened was a lie but then re 3 story happened

Fun fact: at 19:58 When Barry says "What the hell is this place anyway?!" That is the voice actor actually asking the people in the recording room what that place is. They just kept it in the game. Notice how it doesn't fit well with what he said before.

The ps1 games library was just incredible.. resident evils.. metal gear solid.. crash.. spyro... ray man... tomb raider..tekken...streetfighter.. abes oddessy.. final fantasy... worms.. dino crisis.. the list just goes on and on. Best console ever ❤

Apparently Barry is using some sort of weaker ammo, I think it’s called dummy rounds or something. You can tell by the colour of the flash when Barry shoots his gun.

37 years old and this still gives me goosebumps. Never forget the first time I played this, I LITERALLY ran out the house when the first dog jumped through the window
Edit: and to think I had this game memorized to get that rocket launcher in under 2 hours
Oh yeah, that was such a great moment back in the days. A friend of mine jumped so hard, he dropped the controller and got killed by the dogs. :D

Ive got this game on switch as well, theres definitely a delay in the door sequence but still great to be able to play Resident Evil in bed

Clix Gaming I get why speedrunners love the PC version, but what benefit does the JAPANESE version provide?
Yes
Games are often speedran on Japanese versions because the length of text is shorter due to fewer characters and the scroll speed is often faster than in English.

Even with the door skips that is one insane speed run! I remember playing at 9 years old trying to beat it under 3 hours and struggling lol

I love this game. The first RE I played as a 12 year old, I got so scared I returned it to blockbuster after playing it for like 10 minutes. A kid in my homeroom class recommended it to me so I rented it. It scared the crap out of me, then I told him and he laughed at me so I forced myself to rent it again and beat it so I can brag to him lol. My love affair with this franchise started right then. I've played it hundreds of times since. The HD version of the RE1 remake will always be my favorite Resident Evil game but the classics are still great. RE1/RE2/RE3/RE:CV are what I define as the "classic" RE titles.

I didn’t know who Lucio Fulci was when I played this all those years back...but watching this now, i get the feeling a lot of the musics in this were inspired by his movies and perhaps other similar movies of that time period when dario argento and lucio fulci were making all of their gore and zombie films. especially the musics in that area between the 13 and 18 minute marks. I get a Suspiria vibe from it too.

Forreal. Always thought there was something unsettling about PS1 version TO THIS DAY. For me, it’s the goofy Director’s Cut music and the way you die so fast with hunters

Hold UP. With Jill you really had to go out of your way to get Barry killed. That wasn't easy. I do remember that there was a way to only deal with Tyrant once but it's been a while. Chris' was more challenging because of Rebecca. She could die real easy if your timing was off. And Chris' was just extra. Jill had Barry, a Grenade Launcher, lockpicks, piano lessons. That used to trip me out. I got all of the endings but damn.
Why did jill get surprised to see barry in the main hall again? He should be there still seeing how she ran up there in like less than a minute lol 😂😂😂
The part where Jill finds poor Enrico in the catacombs.. STILL a better love story than Twilight!!

Richard's been lying there poisoned for a while, Jill arrives and suddenly remembers he should've brought some with him. That would be automatic thinking once you've escaped from the snake.

That's what I called quality game, not a single bug use which included in every modern game speedruns, which full of holes and bugs. In those years they couldn't patch game later, that's why every game have been polish and tested very good before realase. Theres speedruns which not have bug uses even watch much pleasure!
I should open up a new fast food shop called “Jill’s sandwiches” that serves zombie burgers anda soda named the t-ivus. Different days have different dress ups.

I never played this game, started with the original 2. I was about 5 when 2 came out. Never got passed the licker in rpd, then in 2002 I finally finished 2 and 3.
