    Computer controlled walking is a great idea, yet it makes driving those things totally boring.
    On old walking excavators, you have to place each leg individually, a bit difficult but that's what makes it fun.

    I watched the demonstration of this moving system in the forest of Kalimantan in 2005 and the result was so fast and amazing!!!! It is pitty that the last tropical forest in Kalimantan will erase surely and quickly....... bye bye the forest

  • @mythril4
    @mythril4 11 років тому

    Actually yes, our forest were very well managed, they were thinned properly, and had few bore beetles and we had no bee problem. IT was not until some years after the bans on thinning, logging, and reducing the bore infestation did we have so many fires. Bees are simple, don't spray flowers with universal pesticides. I have more than 40,000 plus bees on my property every year pollinating my gardens, flowers, and fruit trees. Rotting, death and heavy underbrush allows fires to spread faster.

    • @stizanley3987
      @stizanley3987 8 років тому +2

      You probably put it on a trailer and haul it to where it needs to be. I don't think you can build walkers that heavy that can sprint, they'd destroy themselves.

    Maybe it could walk on hydraulically powered wheels? Like hydrostatic.. Add drive wheels that can move it around on pavement and manageable terrain and then it could lower it and drive itself onto trailers and be towed into the shop if it breaks down

    Furniture I have are eco-friendly made from recycled materials to form a composite or if it is wooden the trees used to make it are replanted. My house is solar so I make so much energy that I get payed for producing it and im pretty sure ill recycle my computer when it breaks. And my clothes are eco friendly made from hemp and bamboo strains that fast growing and require little water. Anything is a realistic goal if you try to achieve it.

    Heres an idea: wheels or tracks to get it to the site, then it engages it's legs and retracts the wheels to start work.

Replies from Plustech is highly being sough after! i'am from British North Borneo(now SABAH, Malaysian state ) which produces more than half of world's total olean edible oil output.

    well, as to us it with an excavator, i really thin they shuld put a lot bigger feets on it, as all the load will be on te front 2 legs, i mean the entiere macine and the load in the buket, so on any softer grounds the legs will most likly go straith thru the ground, and sorry for incorect words

    You'd still have to build a logging road to get to the site, uness you want to to spend several days covering the distance "on foot". Thing is slow as hell. And a lot of sites are damn remote. Dozens of miles. Cutting roads to them is still not very popular, and causes a lot of erosion and rutting. Even if you trucked the walkers in, they're still a hell of a lot slower than a normal machine, and time is money. It will only work if they make them a lot faster, or if they're forced by law (and then of course, we'll all be paying twice as much for lumber because it'll take twice as long to cut it, and foresters are expensive).

    • @Ethanshankar
      @Ethanshankar 8 років тому +3

      I know this comment is kind of old, but I can't understand why transport is a problem. Why not just load it onto a flatbed truck until it arrives on site? Then walk into the forest?
      I think that both manned and unmanned walking technology has a LOT of potential, especially with how much research is being put into them. It is disappointing that John Deere decided to stop developing this particular vehicle.
