I was born in 1990, so I never knew of the toys or the animated series, but we had a copy of this film on VHS, and I loved it. From age 7 on I would've watched this movie several times a year. It was only later in life that I was surprised to learn that critics at the time panned it. Same as I was surprised to learn they also panned the Super Mario Bros. live action film. To my boyhood mind, both those films when taken in isolation separate from their respective toy/video game franchises were absolute masterpieces. Seeing He-Man engaged in an epic battle with Skeletor, or Mario and Luigi devolving King Koopa with their De-Vo guns was fricken' awesome. But as British sociologist John D Brewster once said, "Nostalgia is everyone's invention, and someone's 'golden age' is rarely anyone else's." You and all the others who have viewed and liked this video are the few in the world who feel a deep nostalgic sentimental connection to the film. The film's orchestral theme music still gives me shivers down my spine.
Lol, funny 'cause the opening credits have a naration that could be like a text crawl and the opening credits are almost identical in form to Superman :D
i love it too its in my top 5, had it on vhs as a kid, thats why i uploaded this song on my old account, this and turtles , must have replayed it 800 times
Jonathan Carless I still watching it over and over again now, my favourite guilty pleasure movie. I think it's better then most of the bullshit we get now, more heart behind it.
Bill Conti makes great film scores. This one will make you lift your swords and travel through time and space to battle dark forces to save the galaxy from total annihilation. You have the power.
Yes... I feel it... The power... FILLS me! YES! I feel the universe within me! I am... I am a very part of the cosmos! Its energy flows, flows through me! *laughter* Of what consequence are you now? This planet, these people, they are NOTHING to me! The universe is POWER! Pure, unstoppable POWER! And *I* am that force! *I* am that power! KNEEL before your master! Fool... you are no longer my equal! I am more than man! More than life! I... AM... A... GOD!
funny enough that taunting monologue by Skeletor would not be out of place being said by Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars Episode 6 Return of The Jedi or even Episode 3 Revenge of The Sith.
I rewatched this last night during an art stream. As silly as it was, this movie actually had a lot of kickass action. "Nobody takes pot shots at Lubic!"
people of eternia the war is over my forces are victorious the scoreress of greyskull is my prisoner and her powers are now joined with mine let this be my first decree those who do not pledge themselves to me shall be destroyed the new age begins

This movie is ripped straight from my childhood. This was one of the movies that my Older Brother my Older sister & I would always rent out at take two video when we were kids, back when VHS tapes were still in play. Listening to this and watching the movie brings back incredible memories of just being able to be a kid and have fun and an imagination! Something that sorely lacks in today's kids.
One of my favourite movies of all time, yes it has its problems but I just don’t care. I remember my Nan had this on vhs back in the day and every time we went to see her she would let me watch it, eventually she let me take it home and I have lost count of how many times I have seen it. I HAVE THE POWER!!!!
for some reason this theme especially the beginning part of it sounds very motivating and uplifting to me. it`s got a very positive and optimistic ring to it... somehow like overcoming an obstacle that seems impossible to get past but then.... love the movie also, and this is clearly material for a contemoprary re-make ! but if it's done do it throughly and with real passion to detail and crafted sets, not just CGI overkill and don't cast model type actors with no character and depth.
Eh, this one still isn't that great. Had they stuck with the original plan and NOT had it set on Earth, it probably would have been much better. That being said, Frank Langella says Skeletor was his most favorite role to play, he did it for his kids. It's fun just to watch the movie for him, he hams it up so well :D
Skeletor: I want him kneeling at my feet Evil Lynn: After all this time..Grayskull..is...ours.... Skeletor: NO!! sits down on throne, grips staff, and grins MINE! Frank Langella as Skeletor is Master of Universe..NOW..you will KNEEL!!
i m the guy that uploaded this video, iggyk23 is my old channel, many months ago I had a notification in mail that they took this video down, copyrighted music or something and now it miraculously reappeared, I guess that He-Man truly does have the power
The poster for this movie, still remember seeing it in the local video shop back in 88, a huge cardboard cut out, so excited to see He Man and Skeletor in real life, I'm getting all nostalgic now, don't like the other poster though with the blue background and he man with a gun, this ones better
I love it! I have been looking for the Soundtrack for many years on CD 💿 until i gave up at some point. Thanx for the upload! I grew up with Masters of the universe.
I swear I think they should get Bill Conti to do the New Superman. This has always been an Amazing theme and soundtrack. Very uplifting and energetic. Great Quality. Thanx so much for uploading.
This movie is a piece of history. A masterpiece. In a time when films were crafted. Amazing soundtrack that told the story, performed by the orchestra of Munich.
Love this movie, got it on blu ray!! And even if the movie got bad reviews back then, it is still a classic today and beats the hell out of MOTU revelations cartoon series!!!
This movie doesnt deserve all the hate it gets. I think for what it was and the troubled production it had, it turned out great. Also, I had a HUGE crush on Meg Foster (Evil-Lyn) in this.
Age 7 and I was at the cinemas watching this...was a great day! The only thing that spoiled the day was this giant Freddy Krueger prop glove hanging over the moviegoers in the foyer for the promotion of NOES 3. Never understood what it was til like a year later. Nightmares for weeks.
Imagine if when Skeletor has his mercenaries kneeling in front of him, screaming "WHERE IS THE KEY?", if the reptile bloke had said "Yeah, where's the key, Beast Man?"
No matter how bad this movie was, two things made it bearable to watch and that was this theme song and Frank Langella as Skeletor....LOL, He was Brilliant.
@estevamguzella ya alteration until 0:33 when it plays excuse me steals the music from the flying scene/ aka the love theme from the 1st Superman movie.
This was the death rattles of a studio. They literally ran out of money before it was finished. The director chipped in to finish the last fight. They were using crooked accounting and keeping double books so this and Superman IV were being made with the same money. There wasn't enough studio left to make a second movie.
I will always remember Frank Langelas wonderful performance as Skeletor despite how good or bad this movie was Frank did exactly same what Ledger did the Joker.
Transformers. Iron Man. Superman Returns. Avatar. Batman Begins. Transformers Salvation. Some of the so called 'best' movies of our time. None of them could lick the boots of Masters of the Universe. :)
Kyle Sellars Seriously, he looked like a demonic priest or something. He looked cool. I've always said this movie is underrated. Campy sure but fun and entertaining nonetheless.
i love that scene!! These moves are all about the bad guys nailing it. This Skeletor performance is one of the best. The movie was so much better than the cartoon ever war(of course watched that too)
It truly was a shame that the movie was rushed, because the studio was going out of business, and the toy line wanted to pull out because they lost money on the 1985 or 86 toy line of He-man which honestly was kind of their fault for trying to syndicate something like that and not actually taking the care to plan things out for a long term run. the two things that really carried this movie, Was Dolph Lundgren was built for the part, and Frank Langella out acted this entire movie.
One of my guilty pleasure films. Up there with the best like Back to the Future etc don't know why people hate it. Dolph's embarrassed of it aswell. But I love it !
I agree! Try listening to North and South (civil war movie) and Napoleon and Josephine a love story. You can find both on UA-cam and he did such a great job with both scores.
My cousin went to watch this movie without me, the reason why i was on holiday. When i came back i had to watch the film on home video. Anyway this movie is in my list of all time favourites.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that loves this movie.

Better than the cartoon show this movie was awesome.
I love this movie.
@@TNHFPRODUCTIONS987 you must be talking about the remake, this was not better then the cartoon you fool
One of the most powerful scores for a fantasy film I've ever heard after Star Wars.
Willow is great also
Superman by John Williams is the best, but this MOTU, Star Wars and Superman themes are so similar.
If the theme of Superman and Star Wars had a child it would sound something like this.
Lol, funny 'cause the opening credits have a naration that could be like a text crawl and the opening credits are almost identical in form to Superman :D
Frank Langella’s skeletor would’ve made the baddest syth Lord in the universe.
@@JohnSmith-gp3co very much so! Frank's Skelly beats all of the other villains hands down
I love this theme its so upbeat and uplifting for an 80s movie.Bill conti is a true expert in music composing.
This was always one of my fav movie themes!
They don't make 'em like this anymore
The most underrated film of all time. I HAVE THE POWER!
People really dislike this movie. I think it is amazing, I used to watch it over and over on video when I was younger.
i love it too its in my top 5, had it on vhs as a kid, thats why i uploaded this song on my old account, this and turtles , must have replayed it 800 times
Igor Krajina Great, I'm glad to find another masters of the universe fan.
+Jonathan Carless I actually really enjoy the movie. It's one of my guilty pleasures.
Jonathan Carless I still watching it over and over again now, my favourite guilty pleasure movie. I think it's better then most of the bullshit we get now, more heart behind it.
Skeletor & this Theme Song are the only good things about this movie imo... this movie didn't deserve either.
Bill Conti makes great film scores. This one will make you lift your swords and travel through time and space to battle dark forces to save the galaxy from total annihilation. You have the power.
Arjun Kaul spot on mate. im high too

Frank Langella's Skeletor and this damn soundtrack complete me...
Frank Langella's Skeletor rescues this movie from being total cheese.
As a theater actor, I love it, Shakespearean. “I will have restitution of loneliness, shame, and scorn! It’s my destiny, it’s my right!”
One of those 80's films that shaped who I am today as a Man. A true spectacle.
so true, those that were not kids in the 80s could not understand it
1:04 I love how Bill inserts the Cosmic Key's code into the theme here.
Never even noticed that haha awesome
seeing this guy as IVAN DRAGO and HE MAN as a kid was confusing as hell!
Still remains one of my favourite films and with time it only gets better - back when studios were fearless and had balls!!
Back then they weren't ruled by woke feminists. Coincidence?
One of the best movies, along with Superman and Star Wars. And incredible power openning music.
Id toss Willow in there as well
The begining of the music is BRUTAL
brilliant film to me and my childhood, doesnt matter what anyone else says.
I rewatched this last night during an art stream. As silly as it was, this movie actually had a lot of kickass action.

Gotta be honest, this sounds amazing
I love this movie still to this day the theme song is close to Superman movie's theme both well done!
Such an underrated score. Thanks so much for posting this and putting it together.
i play this over and over when i write. So good for writing fantasy and sci fi, this is always right for hero stories as well
The Ultimate sword vs sorcery movie IMO. He-Man forever!
This soundtrack is star wars level of epicness

Sounds so like Star Wars and Superman but nevertheless still a brilliant score by Bill Conti, takes me right back to my childhood.

01:30 And here is when it turns from Superman to Star Wars.
He-Man is like Superman living in a Star Wars kind of world. Didn't you know that?
Martin Guzman I wasn't even aware he was empowered with anything and that it took place on another planet.
It's true, but not StarWars, it sound like MARS from Gustav Holst
Theme to my and others childhood.

its to my eternal regret that James Tolken didnt call Skeletor a 'slacker'
Well it's the budget you know.
"LET THIS BE OUR FINAL BATTLE!" -SKELETOR
You know it's right.. 🤘😜🤘 WE ARE THE POWER
the score was great. skeletor alone was worth the price of admission
I remember the ending scene, when the girl says '' Do you know ? '' and the guy answer '' We were there..''
Something like that anyway.
This movie is awesome! Anything that gave James Tolkan work outside of the back to the future franchise is good stuff!
