2 hours, that's how long it took before I realized the sounds stood for directions. Only because I didn't do the mechanical world first.
I didn't get it at all. Back in the 90's when I played I had to buy the guide book to figure out it was the sounds, but by then I'd already mapped nearly the entire network of tracks through brute force.
