I should point out that the battleship HMS Agincourt was commissioned by the Brazilian Navy as part of an arms race with Argentina; she had a main battery of 14 x 12" guns in seven twin turrets on the centreline (she really was kind'a lengthy) and that length allowed a secondary battery of 20 x 6" guns (same bore size, more or less, as modern British Army howitzers) in single mounts all along both sides. Due to an outbreak of friendship between Brazil and Argentina, she was sold on to the Ottoman Empire prior to completion and requisitioned by the the Royal Navy when they turned out not to be on our side when the Great War broke out. Being unlike anything that the Royal Navy actually *wanted,* she was put in a squadron where every battleship was a different design and when that squadron engaged the enemy at the Battle of Jutland, the crews of the other ships thought Agincourt had suffered a magazine explosion: she had merely fired a broadside that was normal for her. None of this was particularly effective, but it must have been awesome to see and hear! One of the ships to bear the name HMS Achilles, by contrast, was one of two Leander-class cruisers to engage the Pocket Battleship Graf Spee in support (or defence) of HMS Exeter at the battle of River Plate, and another was a nineteen-sixties frigate of a popular type, also called the Leander class, to the great confusion of Wikipedia picture editors! I honestly think that naming the new submarine after the latter may be aimed more towards the River Plate than the River Seine.
