I was in a 20 year relationship with someone who, looking back now with more clarity, had been a low level substance abuser for a lot of years before drugs and alcohol finally became the thing that broke us up. It's a really difficult situation to be in. If they can't admit they have a problem, you have to make a lot of hard choices. I see her side more than his. Yeah, hes gone to rehab and that's great but the damage is done and it's hard to get back to the place where you were happy in the relationship and there was trust.
It was better if they didn't get married at all. They would probably still be together or atleast have less problems regarding separation. And for those giving the fault only on Angelina... This marriage involved two people and neither of them look mentally healthy for the relationship to work. Both of them obviously have problems they just seem to not manage to work out together. I think the reason they focused on Jolie's past relationships and marriages was to show a pattern of Jolie repeatedly jumping into relationships with men that she did films with, who were either already married or involved with other women. I also think it was a valid point since the video indicated that Jolie kept close tabs on Pitt (keeping him away from other women) to ensure he didn't develop relationships with old girlfriends or women that he filmed with.

As a counselor focusing on aiding Borderline Personalities (it is well documented AJ is a BDP) I find Angelina and Brad's divorce proceeding normal when it comes to a BDP and a non BDP divorcing. Partners of BDP will often turn to substance abuse to cope with their mentally ill partner and their antics. BDP are highly intelligent and easily manipulate their partners into their bidding. For example gas lighting. (Gas-lighting is a form of persistent manipulation and brainwashing that causes the victim to doubt themselves) Another aspect of being involved w BDP is the healthily individual will find themselves addicted to the BDP as they're usually extremely engaging, physically attractive and intelligent. Case in point Brad posted on his twitter account a month before Jolie filed for divorce he married the most beautiful women on the planet. Completely in denial things were deteriorating in their relationship. BDP usually plan their moves in advance. Thus, it appears Brad was blindsided when they split in LA after the plane altercation and Jolie moved her and their children to a rented home in Malibu, CA. It's been over two years and Brad is still attempting to gain mutual custody of his children. At this stage it wouldn't be unusual for their children to be biased towards their father.
As a person close to someone with BPD, I saw in it AJolie a long time ago. Brad's drinking and behavior are typical of someone who is trying to cope with a partner who is highly abusive and has convinced the abused partner it's all their fault, then turn the children (in this case the son) against the abused partner. Then, the BPD person uses their abused coping mechanism (drinking) against them to say, See! This is why things are the way they are. I feel for Brad because I've seen it happen. Worse is that this is being played out for the public to speculate on (just as we're doing right now) putting everyone under a microscope. I hope his friends have the courage and intelligence to help Brad get to a better place, tell him it's Not his fault and help him move on. He seems to be a genuinely nice person and a good father who loved family life.

I was in a 20 year relationship with someone who, looking back now with more clarity, had been a low level substance abuser for a lot of years before drugs and alcohol finally became the thing that broke us up.
It's a really difficult situation to be in. If they can't admit they have a problem, you have to make a lot of hard choices.
I see her side more than his. Yeah, hes gone to rehab and that's great but the damage is done and it's hard to get back to the place where you were happy in the relationship and there was trust.
It was better if they didn't get married at all.
They would probably still be together or atleast have less problems regarding separation.
And for those giving the fault only on Angelina... This marriage involved two people and neither of them look mentally healthy for the relationship to work. Both of them obviously have problems they just seem to not manage to work out together.

I think the reason they focused on Jolie's past relationships and marriages was to show a pattern of Jolie repeatedly jumping into relationships with men that she did films with, who were either already married or involved with other women. I also think it was a valid point since the video indicated that Jolie kept close tabs on Pitt (keeping him away from other women) to ensure he didn't develop relationships with old girlfriends or women that he filmed with.

Both are where they chose to be. And well the results are there to be seen for themselves.
There were reasons why he and Aniston divorced. The divorce was already in the works. Aniston didn't want to have children and Brad did. That's the heart of their disagreement. Not wanting to have a family with your spouse is a pretty good reason for divorce.

Usually the fault lies on both sides. At least Brad had the courage to admitt that he committed to the split with his alcohol and substance abuse and tried to make amends. True, he should have handled his marriage to Jennifer Aniston way better, but what's done is done and the result of that are 6 kids, including 3 bilogical with Jolie, which I'm sure Brad loves like any parent would do his or her own children. As a counselor focusing on aiding Borderline Personalities (it is well documented AJ is a BDP) I find Angelina and Brad's divorce proceeding normal when it comes to a BDP and a non BDP divorcing. Partners of BDP will often turn to substance abuse to cope with their mentally ill partner and their antics. BDP are highly intelligent and easily manipulate their partners into their bidding. For example gas lighting. (Gas-lighting is a form of persistent manipulation and brainwashing that causes the victim to doubt themselves) Another aspect of being involved w BDP is the healthily individual will find themselves addicted to the BDP as they're usually extremely engaging, physically attractive and intelligent. Case in point Brad posted on his twitter account a month before Jolie filed for divorce he married the most beautiful women on the planet. Completely in denial things were deteriorating in their relationship. BDP usually plan their moves in advance. Brad's drinking and behavior are typical of someone who is trying to cope with a partner who is highly abusive and has convinced the abused partner it's all their fault, then turn the children (in this case the son) against the abused partner. Then, the BPD person uses their abused coping mechanism (drinking) against them to say, See! This is why things are the way they are. I feel for Brad because I've seen it happen. Worse is that this is being played out for the public to speculate on (just as we're doing right now) putting everyone under a microscope. I hope his friends have the courage and intelligence to help Brad get to a better place, tell him it's Not his fault and help him move on. He seems to be a genuinely nice person and a good father who loved family life.

If it does, you are lucky that someone has kept you connected for a long period of time. People become different with years, you can grew apart or drift in other directions.
