Modular Starship Concept

A modular starship could swap out aft sections depending on mission parameters. In addition to different propulsion configurations, there can be sensor modules, special weapons, and even experimental science modules. The ship configuration could change with each episode depending on plot. Modules could be discarded and picked up along the way. Rather than settle on any one design, modularity allows for a constantly changing design.

That's a cool concept! They could even chain up additional modules between the command/hab front section, and the drive section.

Interesting concept, is the drive section a detachable autonomous slipstream drive? While the cabin has conventional warp nacelles?

My first inclination is the drive section simply increases tactical abilities, max speed and range. The FTL in Halcyon is significantly faster than trek warp, and then there are portals for extreme distances, so a separate faster "slip stream" may not be necessary.
