I think I went over 8 hours total dedicated to editing this video. Not only that, I had to change one part due to 4K Media Copyright striking it. So this is actually upload attempt 3. Anyways . . . yeah. Surprise! My first ever sponsorship. I can't begin to tell you just how excited I was to partner up with Pixel Helmet. This really is the start of a bright future for this channel. You better believe I'll be uploading more videos like this to come. Let's see if we can surpass 500 subs!
Wow, even if didnt play YGO while growing up, this video wws really fun to watch! Its good to see that YGO is evolving its art style, while still keeping it similiar to the old one! Also, congrats on the sponsorship!!
Thank you again, Ecto! Glad to see you're always enjoying my content. I hope to do even better for the next one. Hopefully this first sponsorship is the start of many more!
i grew up with yugioh but didnt actually play the game until the later synchro era through to the end of the zexal era and then stopped, came back with master duel and while i did find some archetypes that i really like to help me get back into the game it was always some ratio of art to gameplay with them but the archetype that really drew me in practically with its art alone were the icejade their artwork is just simply beautiful but there is also something about their visual style that i just cant really put a finger on though if i have to say its possibly how tranquil they look yet at the same time their poses and actions in their art gives them a whimsical touch to their serene appearances i also like how their art and effects follow the lore, like under kosmochlor's rule they lack interactions with the enemy and had an almost entirely defensive gameplan, monsters like aegirine, acti, temora, tinola, kingfisher and kosmo herself were designed with a very soft appearance, they have very little angular points and edges to them but then with the death of kosmo and aegirine's ascension to their new ruler the artwork took a very "sharp" turn, gymir and aegirocassis are filled with pointy ends and sharp edges with aegirocassis looking like it will puncture you hand just trying to pick it up (assuming a hand is big enough for that) and this reflects their current disposition in the albaz lore with aegirine going on the offence wanting revenge it certainly is an end of an era for for them and that is then very much reflected in their newest card in rahn where her art depicts her surrounded by the the sharp and pointy ruins including the shattered fragmented corpse of her icejade brethren
The YuGiOh arts I'm more drawn to is the Six Samurai archetype. I never actually seen it in the anime (I don't know if it did because I didn't watch that far) But somehow, I was drawn to them. Eventually, I moved on to be a Sky Striker player, but I used to spam samurais on the board. xD
I think YGO art is at its best when at its most simple. Dark Magician is just a mage posing in a spell circle, and the greatest Blue Eyes card art has to be the one with it coiled atop a Skyscraper. The Six Samurai limit the art to the Samurai themselves, and the organization's seal, to tell you what they are about right then and there. The Burning Abyss cards are all hellbound demons imposed against a scorched landscape, but the art and coloring lets you still focus on the simple shapes of these inhuman beasts and little else. A personal issue that I have with a lot of the modern art is that for such a small frame to demonstrate the image, newer arts can have this problem of being so detailed that it makes them a bit ugly to look at. It takes a lot of effort to make the details pop without resulting in sensory overload, and I think that might be where the cards with a more painted style work the best.
That's a great point to consider. Due to Yugiohs atrocious card layout, its often hard for art to really shine. Games like MtG, Pokemon, and Vanguard do this way better.

Nice to see someone who enjoys the Icejade. Well written, mate.
@@TheComboist hoping they get new support soon, very rare for a modern archetype to not even see rogue tier
That is pretty true. We can only hope.
I'm drawn to Rescue-ACE arts bc Hydrant is a Hydrant. Peak YGO Design.
Very Peak
I'm personally drawn to Akina Fujiwara's art (Traptrix and Charmers)
Some great arts for sure. The GX Charmers really stand out amidst other arts.
The YuGiOh arts I'm more drawn to is the Six Samurai archetype.

I beleive they're a non-anime archetype. But they are pretty nice! I remember the loops back in the day. Good times.
You deserve more views
Thanks! Hopefully we can get those views.

Quality video keep it up
Thanks a bunch! Hope you can enjoy more of my content to come. Always got more!
For me dragon rulers art work are the coolest
I remember when Dragon Rulers were meta during Zexal. I never thought much on it, but their artwork is definitely great.
@@TheComboist yeah since people most remembered them for their broken engine
That was when I really got into actual competitive yugioh. It's my yugioh baptism.
