Enfin, un vrai test chronométré, avec des diamètres identiques. Bravo, simple, efficace.

30 years ago I bought a Coghlan's Sierra saw. Over those 30 years I've used it to clear lots of trashwood (mostly Japanese Bush Honeysuckle) from my woods. Recently I thought it was time to retire the old Sierra saw and replace it with something more modern. So I bought the Laplander. I was disappointed. Even brand new, the Laplander didn't cut nearly as fast as my old Sierra saw. I do like that the Laplander's blade locks into place either open or closed, but still, I find myself grabbing the Sierra when it comes time to doing work. I've never tried the Silky though.

+johnjayrambo11111 Bushcraft and Survival Ive never really understood peoples issue with fixed saws. I know the folders take up less space and tend to be fine for most camp tasks but I much prefer the fixed blade for cutting wood for carving or if I am doing lots of firewood.

I prefer fixed over folding. 👍

What's the length of the silky gomtaro there? Can you do a review of the dual-toothed gomtaro 108-30 to see if the cut is that much cleaner than the regular large toothed gomtaro?

nice review. very balanced. I just got the Zubat and have yet to really test it in my hort work. The same weight and size as the Lappy in Silky is the Super Accel 210. where I come from Lap is $35 where the Accel is more like $70...so there is that. I'd rather carry the 210 but the warranty on the blade is pretty average i.e: if it breaks...customers fault according to every saw returned and tested by Japan QC. Having said that if you stick to pull cuts as designed Silky is the bomb. such good steel too.
with the Zubat on larger jobs it is much nicer to be not having to open and close the blade all the time. corona is great too...more the Bacho end of the budget but heading toward Silky performance. cheers.

I do prefer the larger fixed saw blade whenever pack space allows as it just seems to cut that little bit faster and smoother, that said there really is nothing wrong with the Laplander especially for normal camp tasks. The silky comes into its own if I am out collecting green wood for carving stocks or if I plan on spending a day out carving blanks for finishing later.

Great information thanks. What size is your Zubat in the review? I see Silky do a couple of different sizes.

I love a good saw. I have many. Be careful there. Next time cut a bigger chunk like your first cut. You had me worried. I have done more damage to my hands from these saws than I have with my knives. Take care. : )

I found this woodworking book more out of interest than utility, bit.ly/2B5ZnjY , and I happen to be impressed. It never disappointed me in my wish to have more information about the art of woodworking. I discovered many topics like wood types as well as designing your workshop.?

Great review! Have you ever thought of comparing the #Silky #Pocketboy (170 cm) or #Silky #Gomboy (210) with the Bahco? These saws are both folding saws and will fit in your pocket!

Hi Silky Europe, been a fan of your larger saws for a while now alongside the Bahco but never had the chance to use the pocketboy or gomboy. If I manage to get my hands on one or both in the future I would love to do a side by side comparison. Woodcraft Hamster
