Thank you for your kind words! USS Texas BB-35 is indeed a magnificent ship, once one of the most powerful warships on the planet. We’re glad to hear you're looking forward to visiting her again. Her legacy continues to inspire and captivate those who come to honor her.
My Great Grandfather served on her in WWI. We have photo of him, my grandmother, and my Mom, standing on the wooden deck in about 1955 or 1956. Mom is 84 and in great health, I plan to take her to see the ship once again and get a photo of her and I standing in the same spot as the old photo. Sounds like tours begin late 2025 or early 2026...hope Mom makes it that long!
Seems he was a "fireman" responsible for stoking the fire. When my Grandmother passed, we ran across documents, very faint (should have been burned?) listing enemy ships scuttled. Perhaps not worth taking to port but denying the enemy use thereof?
What an incredible family legacy! It’s amazing that you have such a precious photo and plan to recreate that moment with your mom. We’re wishing her continued great health, and it would be so special for you both to stand on that deck together once more. We look forward to welcoming you in 2025 or 2026, and I hope the tour will be just as memorable as your original visit.
What an incredible find! Those documents are a fascinating glimpse into the past. It’s amazing to think about your great-grandfather's role as a fireman on USS Texas, keeping her going during such intense moments. Scuttling ships to deny the enemy use was a common tactic, and it's incredible that you have that piece of history in your family. Thank you for sharing such a unique story! God bless your family, and God bless the USA.
Thank you for noticing! The restoration efforts are truly bringing USS Texas BB-35 back to her former glory. It’s wonderful to see this historic ship being preserved and appreciated by so many. God bless you, and God bless America.
Thank you for your comment! USS Texas is indeed a treasure of history, and we are proud to keep her preserved so her story can continue to be shared. She is not only a symbol of beauty but also a testament to the honor of the brave warriors who served our country.
Thank you for your comment, bro! USS Texas is indeed an incredible ship. Not only does she have a glorious history, but she also stands as a symbol of the brave spirit of so many heroes. Her story inspires awe and pride in everyone who visits her.
Thank you for your comment! The USS Missouri is indeed an awe-inspiring battleship, just like USS Texas-both are symbols of history and a testament to countless heroes. Visiting these great ships truly deepens our respect for the courage and sacrifices of the past.
Thank you so much for your kind recognition of the footage! We truly appreciate your support, and it means a lot to know that the progress of USS Texas BB-35 is being well received. We're excited to continue sharing her journey with everyone as the restoration moves forward.
Amazing grace seems appropriate for this ship and its long run without a drydocking. Not sure if I'd consider USS Texas(BB-35) to be a 'Wretch' though.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! "Amazing Grace" certainly carries a fitting sentiment for USS Texas and her long service without a drydocking. While she may not be a ‘wretch,’ she has certainly weathered her fair share of battles and time, standing strong as a symbol of resilience and history. We’re proud to honor her legacy.
Thank you for your enthusiasm! The restoration of USS Texas BB-35 is a meticulous process, and every part of the ship is receiving the care it deserves. It’s exciting to see the progress and know that she’s being preserved for future generations to admire.
Thank you for seeing the beauty in the restoration! The scaffolding and materials may look messy, but they represent the hard work and dedication going into bringing USS Texas back to her former glory. We’re excited to share this journey with everyone!
I hope she finds a birth. Id really like to see her at Anahuac TX. The mouth of the Trinity River would be an awesome place. I know flooding there would be an issue but still. With proper oversight and planning it would be a nice place to see her at.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! Anahuac, TX, and the mouth of the Trinity River would indeed be a beautiful location for USS Texas BB-35. While we are currently uncertain about her specific future port, we appreciate your vision for finding a suitable home for her. Ensuring she has a place where future generations can admire her legacy is very important. God bless you!
Thank you for your comment! USS Texas is indeed a giant with a glorious history behind her. She not only witnessed great moments in history but also stands as a symbol of the courage and dedication of the heroes who fought for freedom.
Soy de Chile, me gusta la historia naval tanto de mi país, y también hace mucho tiempo sigo la restauración del acorazado Texas, está quedando espectacular, espero que el fin de su restauración.
Thank you for following the restoration of Battleship Texas for so long! It's amazing to know that people from Chile, who also cherish their naval history, are watching her progress. We can’t wait to see her fully restored either! God bless you, and God bless America.
As a 20+ year active volunteer on the ship, I can tell you that the hull has never been replaced. Since arriving in Texas in 1948, the ship has had two hull repairs that required being in dry dock; one in 1988-90 and then again in 2022-2024. While she is currently the only museum ship painted Measure 21 (Navy Blue 2-N), it was widely used on U.S. ships in the Pacific during WWII.
Thank you for your comment! USS Texas has certainly undergone significant repairs over the years, including extensive hull maintenance to preserve her condition. While she’s known for her classic battleship gray, it's great to see how her legacy continues to inspire people. Her history remains as strong as ever!
The hardcore welding and refurbishing of the hull and superstructure for this dreadnought Texas has been completed in the recent dry dock operation. Now is the finishing touches. Same thing is happening to super battleship New Jersey. Hull work at dry dock is complete. Now finishing touches. The battleships must be maintained in a state of preservation. Its law, and a good one. A state of being able to be reactivated, refit, modernized and recomissioned for battle. In a war situation with emp attacks, cyber attacks and falling satellites, these giant battships can take way more damage than modern warships and have bigger guns. They will be ready to defend the US if the burning remnants of enemy forces make it across the sea. Long live the dreadnoughts 🇺🇲
Thank you for your question! USS Texas is currently docked at Gulf Copper Shipyard in Galveston for restoration. The work is well underway, and we’re excited to see her in her best condition soon!
The exact timeline for her permanent placement hasn’t been finalized yet, but we’re hoping it will be announced soon after the restoration is complete. It’s exciting to think about where she will finally call home again! Thank you for your interest and support.
Such a beautiful ship she is. She was once the most powerful warship on earth. Can't wait to visit her again.

Ordinarily, I might say the deck is a mess, but all that construction material and scaffolding is actually a beautiful thing!

@camerong.5989 New Jersey is a Iowa class. Technically, deadlier than Texas. However, USS Texas is an iconic ship, serving in both World Wars.
Nothing regular about the battleship New Jersey. Iowa class monster@camerong.5989
