Loving your quail vids! We're just starting out as well, though we opted to start with a much smaller number of 4-week-olds. We wanted to get our setup ideas in order, have a chance to see what works and what doesn't work, and really just make sure we could keep them alive and healthy before trying a larger number. I LOVE the colors that Myshire Farm makes available. We'll probably be purchasing a few hatching eggs from them soon.
Like you guys, we'll be raising these little tykes for raw feeding our dogs and cat, and also raising meat rabbits. We're also starting a small, commercial microgreens operation to feed our little livestock, our dogs and cat, and ourselves as well as to sell to restaurants, food trucks, caterers, farmer's markets, and direct to customers. We hope to raise and grow enough for ourselves as well as enough to start making some income from sales.
Side note: I also LOVE that you guys follow natural rearing practices. We will be breeding in the distant future, and I definitely like the idea of following puppy culture and natural rearing protocols. Great channel and vids! ❤️

Do you have to lock them in the night area every night, or are they safe anywhere in the aviary?

if you buy eggs from a hatchery they will send you their 'best tips' for hatching - and they do vary from hatchery to hatchery. Also where you live - is it dry or humid, because that makes a difference, as well as temps the time of year you want to hatch - winter or summer. For me where I live - my standard is
      1 - 99.5°
      2 - 45% Humidity
      for first 14-15 days
      3 - day 15 take out turner
      4 - 99.5°
      5 - 67% humidity
6 - hatch should happen in 1-3 days
