Hozier could sing my chemistry assignment and it would sound divine.
i was literaly studying chemistry now lololo
He could sing my dreadful 8 page report about tonoplast permeability of sugar beets measured from spectrophotometric analysis of betacyanin and I would cry from the sheer beauty.
he could sing my notes and ill get an A
@@pinnipedwithhumanqualities5276 i understood some of those words
he could sing my economy revision for French history and sound amazing
He’s comparing his old love to trees and his new love to fire. She consumes his old loves by burning them away while he stand by to watch.
Or he forgot his old love to the willow while it was burnt but fell into the burning flames of the that?😶.it is quite passionate and pure but scary ,though..
Or i get the song wrong😅
He said he was alight too though it's the passion of fire.
Or maybe he just likes Arson, I'm ok with either tbh.
Beautiful
Hozier is a divine poet but his fans are no less. Beautiful
This song reminds me of those moments where you’re alone. Not necessary sad or happy, but just existing in the world and contemplating life.
It's drinking coffee, in your chair, dim lights, no TV or phone. Just existing. ♥️
That's me almost all the time when I'm alone omg
Exactly!
Yes !
And in that moment I swear we were infinite
In Indian folklore there was a singer called "Tansen", who could sing "malahar" so well that he'd summon rain storms and fires by his voice... now I know what those rain storms and fires were in the hearts of the listeners ... Hozier has the same effect.
Hii Indian here...and I agree! Also did you listen to Hozier's rendition of My Lagan Love? It's the most tranquil song that I've ever heard in all of my existence.
Wow, that is, truley, beautiful
That is truly beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
This is the most beautiful comment I've ever seen on youtube
True
damn he sings like the sun warming your skin outside, he sings like the smell of smoke and the rain, he sings like the currents and the fires and the wind blowing from up north. He sings like the smile of a lover first thing in the morning, like the bitter taste of coffee you love so much. He sings like the embrace of your mother when you come home. damn
This may just be my most favorite comment on youtube ever. x
Your comment reminds me of Narnia when it got created....i will save this. Lots of love
This was one of the most beautiful things that I have ever had the privilege of reading
Literally thank you for putting into words
Thank you for your words. You could write the next text for him.
this feels like he’s an immortal fallen in love with the same soul in every life, and with each life they share together it only gets deeper.
Accurate
Howl's moving castle
Sounds like the relationship of Meliodas and Elizabeth to me. Since you've said that.
Oh my gosh that's so beautiful.
That's a nice story prompt
me when i move to the highlands with my future wife & we have a big cottage with lavender in the garden & lots of books crammed everywhere & a hearth that's always crackling & lots of friends who pour into our house in the evenings & willow trees nearby the creek & things are lovely and beautiful
this is the second most beautiful thing about this video
Beautiful people say beautiful things
lol can i be your wife
we should just all marry eachother
@@yazw.6805 i like it to be in an open space,in the willow trees maybe with harp players around
“I fell in love with the fire long ago” feels like a little nod to arsonist’s lullaby
Yes it does, well spotted! :)
My thoughts exactly..
My thoughts, too.
It feels like a lot of his songs have little lyrical nods to each other and I love it
Yeah I feel like all of his songs are telling some bigger narrative.
It's just been a few minutes since this album was uploaded and it's so sweet to see the same people commenting on all the songs like we're all so excited together
I can't believe I missed this upload!
Rightttt
For fucking realll
It’s been 4 years now 😭
His lyrics always has a way of seeping through my skin and bones. It's always emotionally blissful to be able to experience music like how he makes it
I hope to love someone with as much passion that exists in every single Hozier song. That's the dream right there.
you gotta love yourself with that passion first
And I hope to be loved by someone with as much passion that exists in every single Hozier song
Same
@@brokencouchpodcast3816That's actually untrue. You can love someone so deeply without loving yourself, and sometimes when they return that love it ignites self-love within yourself. 🫶
This is the kinda song you listen to when you're a long drive and you're looking longingly out the window .
those faint memories of endless passion are the very moments we need to thrive for. they are never privileges but rights to any that reach with a righteous heart💞
Saw this comment as I was looking out the bus window watching all the nature and small shops pass lol
thank you for putting words into what i've been feeling throughout the entire album
My go to album for long drives is Oh Wonder, looks like it's definitely gonna change!
and then you crash into a tree cos you forgot you were the driver .
for some reasons this song became my favorite once i listened. don’t get me wrong i love every song, but this one is so gentle and sweet to me yet a bit fierce. it makes me feel like i’m living in a cottage with the person i love and picking strawberries with her, a simple life where all that matters is being happy and holding each other.
thank you hozier for always giving 10/10 music i love and appreciate you a lot
Yours is a beautiful story of love & happiness that is inspiring; thank you for sharing the thought.
I totally agree, youre so Smart write a book
❤❤
god you lesbians and your cute gay fantasies on hozier songs!!!
Beautifully put~~~!!!!!!! I get it~!!!!
this song makes me think of two forbidden 18th century lovers who escape their oppressive seaside kingdom to travel the world by boat
Jayda Robison Wow, very specific! I love it!
I love what you just said. I'm picking up what you're putting down
You think like me
That's too specific. Makes me wonder. Are you one of those 18th century lovers? maybe you're inmmortal. Who knows?
the princess, and the handsomest fisherwoman shes ever seen
I like all these poetic comments and I’m just over here like “song very gud”
My love for him go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
much song, many talent
Damn that's poetic in a relatable sense
I want to attend at least one of his concerts in my life time because any musician who can make meetups feel like I've entered church is worth seeing
Just went tonight. He's absolutely fantastic.
Went to his concert in New Orleans last night, I am a believer now! I enjoyed watching the crowd as much as him. Such emotion. A friend invited me at the last minute. So glad I had the chance to go, life changing. Sincerely Desiree'
I went to the Houston one. Truly life-changing. Hozier is such an amazing artist
I went to Hollywood cemetery concert and it was amazing! It was general admin so I got there 6 hours early to get front row and I got to hold his hand. Magical experience. I cried and love him so much more knowing he sounds just as amazing LIVE! Defiantly recommended seeing him live. No regrets.
I guess he really takes you to church huh (I'm sorry)
My 'Critical Thinking' professor in SFU told all of us on zoom to listen to this song. Ima rate him a 5/5 in ratemyprof for this only
Yes
We will never deserve this beautiful Irish Forest Jesus
Supernatural anyone?
Hey!! Jesus has gone through enough...leave him alone 😤
Im wheezing 😂 this is the only way ppl should describe him
That chorus hit me like a truck.
A beautiful and lovely truck full of flowers

I may sound corny as hell but this song makes me think of going barefoot on a neverending golden field with wide beautiful maple trees dotted around me in a beautiful orange/pink sky at sunset. And by every second the song goes I take one step at a time in the field and let my imagination flow through my mind! I literally owe Hozier my existence.
i'd go barefoot on glass without giving a fuck while listening to this song
FROLIC
That's not corny as hell my friend that's literal poetry.
Honestly, same my friend. No shame in being a hopeless romantic...
That's same thing that flow through my mind. Something about this song that grounds me and fills my soul,...I don't know what exactly it is but it felt so warm and so right.
Not to be melodramatic but the way he says “honey” at 2:57 has ruined me for all other men

Or has ruined all other men for you... ;))) Best said that way.
ASSHUIDFHFUSDD LMAOOO
my favourite from the album, no question. i love every song but this one just makes me want to dance like crazy and scream the words as loud as i can. every time he says "youre good to me" i can hardly breathe or move any muscle in my body because this song just takes over. just magical, magical, magical.
I said from the very first time, this song is magical. Special.
Listen to this song is like being gently consumed by the fire and you are at ease because that's what you wanted the whole time.
[Verse 1]
True that I saw her hair like the branch of a tree
A willow dancing on air before covering me
Under cotton and calicoes
Over canopy dappled long ago
True that love in withdrawal was the weepin' of me
That the sound of the saw must be known by the tree
Must be felled for to fight the cold
Fretted fire but that was long ago
[Chorus]
It's not tonight (Oh, oh)
Where I'm set alight (Oh, oh)
And I blink in sight (Oh, oh)
Of your blinding light (Oh, oh)
Oh, it's not tonight (Oh, oh)
Where you hold me tight (Oh, oh)
And the fire bright (Oh, oh)
Oh, let it blaze alright (Oh, oh)
Oh, but you're good to me, oh, you're good to me (Oh, oh)
Oh, but that you're good to me, baby (Oh, oh)
[Verse 2]
With the roar of the fire, my heart rose to its feet
Like the ashes of ash, I saw rise in the heat
Settled soft and as pure as snow
I fell in love with the fire long ago
With each love I cut loose, I was never the same
Watching still-living roots be consumed by the flame
I was fixed on your hand of gold
Layin' waste to my lovin' long ago
[Chorus]
But that's not tonight (Oh, oh)
Where I'm set alight (Oh, oh)
And I blink in sight (Oh, oh)
Of your blinding light (Oh, oh)
And it's not tonight (Oh, oh)
Where you hold me tight (Oh, oh)
And the fire bright (Oh, oh)
Oh, let it blaze alright, honey (Oh, oh)
Oh, but you're good to me, oh, you're good to me (Oh, oh)
Oh, but you're good to me, baby (Oh, oh)
[Verse 3]
So in awe, there I stood as you licked off the grain
Though I've handled the wood, I still worship the flame
As long as amber of ember glows
All the "would" that I'd loved is long ago
[Chorus]
And it's not tonight (Oh, oh)
Where I'm set alight (Oh, oh)
And I blink in sight (Oh, oh)
Of your blinding light (Oh, oh)
Oh, it's not tonight (Oh, oh)
Where you hold me tight (Oh, oh)
And the fire bright (Oh, oh)
Oh, let it blaze alright (Oh, oh)
Oh, you're good to me, oh, you're good to me (Oh, oh)
Oh, but you're good to me (Oh, oh)
Oh, oh, you're good to me, you're good to me (Oh, oh)
Oh, but you're good to me, baby (Oh, oh)
Emily Dunsmore believe that should be “under cotton and calicos” (calicos are a type of cotton). He’s referring to sheets.
Its oh but you're good to me baby....I have the CD with the lyrics. :)
@@amandafeliciano542 yes, I thought that too when I was first listening to it but everyone else thought it was hope. :)
Are you sure it's not "Oh but you're good to me" rather than "Hope that you're good to me"?
I can hear it both ways.
Thank you for the lyrics
This fills me with sunshine and melancholy. Thank you for creating so many masterpieces.
I love how everyone gets the same "picking fruit for our loves in a forest" vibe from this song
personally, i think this is one of the. most. beautiful songs on this album, or in history. it's literally POETRY. every time i give it a listen, it feels like so much more than just that. i consider it a gift. no song gets my emotions more than this song, and it's always refreshing to hear it.
No, Hozier, you're good to us
You're too sweet for me
This song makes me cry. Not out of sadness, nor really happiness, but more so the pure, blissful beauty of it
I love this comment
Ugh this man sets goals literally no one can achieve.
Srestha Chakraborty lol. Good one!
Oh my ♡
and yet we strive to be like him, bro is literally the greatest role model anyone could ask for, gentle, firm, humble, determined, weak, strong, vulnerable, stoic, he's the whole package
Jesus Christ, this may be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard
Hozier, Ben Howard, Gregory Alan Isakov…just on a completely other level of music and lyrics. Makes you miss shit you never had but know that you want. It’s poetry and beauty and kindness and sadness all at the same time.
You forgot to mention Bon Iver😅
And it's an all consuming Love 💗
Agree
This song is my absolute favorite off the album. This song just embodies forgetting about what other’s perceptions and just loving someone and being so in love with being loved. I just want to dance to this song while someone calls me their honey :’)
You said it perfect! 💗
Don't we all
Me and Copia frfr
**through tears** this is a really good song **sniff**
MEEEE OMG
Your voice in the chorus is stunning. I mean, your voice is always stunning, but in those moments it is particularly so. Very stretched, raw, visceral, reaching out so deep. God, thanks for allowing us to listen to this.
To a girl I fell in love with and went after for 8 years and still we became good friends, this song is for you.
Life can be so cruel with how sometimes a person you want so bad and for so long will never feel the same. I had the same experience, while not quite as long but its still so depressing. I hope you're doing well now
Unrequited loves are the worst 😢
Hope you're doing okay Mike

The song “Be” and “Would that I” both have the words “ be good to me”. This person better be good! Hozier deserves goodness!! 😇😇
this is THE official breakdown song. nothing hits like that chorus. NOTHING
This gives me massive dnd vibes, like an ethereal cozy forest feel. I love it so much, I feel a yearning for a quiet life with someone special who will pick tomatoes in our garden with me.
This has to be my favorite song on the album, the perfect mix of sweet and heartfelt yet fiery and strong in the chorus... I love it so much I can’t even explain
this song is so cottagecore wlw, i ony listen to this song when i'm alone, imagining myself in a cottage in the middle of the woods with my girlfriend.
Hozier is the god of cottagecore gays tbh,, also gives me v strong flowery-overgrown-cottage-in-the-forest mlm vibes. Makes me think of looking for an escape from everything else and running through the woods to twirl around in a flower field, and then falling down dizzy in the grass to watch the clouds go by in happy silence holding hands with my boyfriend. 🥺😌 I don’t even HAVE a boyfriend lmao,, the vibe is just that strong and Hozier is a magnet for gays that just want a quiet life in a fairytale forest 🤷♂️
@@peachy4358 I don't have a girlfriend either, I guess it's the longing for both, a partner and the forest.
This is one of the only songs that makes me feel butterflies in my stomach
How do they taste?
Absolutely sobbing, and I have to leave for work in 10 minutes, oh dear
Our lord and savior has returned, sisters and brothers. Let's rejoy.

that bass starts at 0:53 WOOOOOOO It gave me goosebumps and i was like wow few seconds later the chorus came on and it gave me a harder goosebumps.
This song literally brings tears of joy to me. Not big tears, but just the well up that makes you thankful for the beauty we get to experience in this world every day. Simply stunning.
yesss same🤞
Thank you soo much for your music.
The chorus is so unexpected I love it😭😭😭
I didnt like it when I just gave the first few seconds a chance. driving one sunny day in my car I let it play through and I was ashamed I judged it so early. that fucking voice change in the chorus nailed it for me lol
Good god, this guy is talented. I never heard of him until Almost Sweet Music came on my radio a few weeks ago but his music is insanely good. There are so many layers to each song; the passion is unreal.
lol just heard him from sweet music? wow I like his old shit and just started getting into this new album. sweet music being one of the songs that convinced me he still had it haha
he's so good with poetic singing. he's analogy of things is so ancient and magical, it touches everyone's old soul.
Fav song through my lifetime 💕
This song penetrates to your veins and brain making you remember all those perfect Nostalgic moments you ever had😩
I love how in some songs comments are just so positive
This song give’s me that dancing and playing with magical creatures in the woods 1:49 specially this part
Bro hozier is literally like the jesus of music
“Not all men” ur right, Hozier sings the word honey or baby and it slays me sweetly in a lovesick trance. I’m Gay.
Hozier has the best most poetic lyrics of anyone I've heard in the last decade.
See, I see it differently:
I think he's comparing the types of people he loved to elements. Good women were the wood, where the fire women were a bit more toxic but passionate and kept him alive.
It feels like he's processing why he has the need to love the fire, he's trying to be with the wood which is more inviting and less damaging....but unfortunately he Workships the fire: "with the road of the fire my heart rose to its feet" and he "settled soft and as pure as snow" ready to be melted by the fire.
My god, the artistry that this guys has!
God listening to Hozier is an Experience his music is so Intricate, his vocals are so powerful but haunting and his lyrics are poetry I can’t get enough ❤️
If hozier was a pattern he'd be the beautiful baroque filigree pattern on the outside of an ancient mirror that holds the secrets of the universe.
Don't look too long though or you get trapped
Sometimes I can't breathe listening to him. He's just so beautifully intence
This song makes me think of a wholesome group of people around a bonfire and then they run around a field while the sun is setting. No ones on their phone and everyone is just living in the moment
Hail to the melody ye citizens of Hozier Capital, for this, is the sound that breathes life into the soul of your lungs.

"love in withdrawal was the weeping of me, but the sound of the saw is know by the tree" a beautiful was to say that hurt and pain is on it way and to live despite it
I love all the songs but this one is my favourite. The melody, the lyrics, it just makes you reminisce the memories you did not have.
I am the Receiver. Hozier is The Giver. I’m receiving the memory of swimming through crystal clear oceans and tasting rainfall and standing under waterfalls and picking wildflowers and making bouquets and twirling around in the wilderness laughing at life (in a stoic way). You know?
That’s beautiful
I saw Hozier in Vienna, Austria about ten days ago and it was magical.
This song feels like hope, a peaceful and empowering kind of hope
Hard to show this kind of music to people because no one really stops and REALLY listens
I love listening to this song so much! It gives you all kinds of feelings, fills you with awe with lyrics, music. This is pure, magical!
You sound like my dreams, I'll always recognize you.
Yes ♡
That chorus gives me life, thank you Hozier for your music.
Oh to write poetry and song like this.
This song is filled with immense glory, and Hozier's articulation is impeccable and brilliant
This song of him really hits me different it's so beautiful. There's no words to express how much I love this song. ❤
Hozier has such a golden voice, Once in a lifetime talent
Damn. Hozier just makes me so happy. I swear I wouldn’t know what would happen to me if I didn’t discover him. Like i could be having the worst day ever and all I would have to do is listen to his voice
If you told me that this was Jesus, I would believe it.
Come to think of it, his songs really sound like forests and faes and magical wood creature music lol
Hozier could recite the digits of pi yet make it seem like such a divine song, absolutely ineffable even!
For some reason this really reminds me of Anne with an e and I love it. This song feels so warming and has this really nostalgic homely feeling like I’m in a fantasy book dancing by the fire in a magical forest and this gives me the best feeling. I love his music so much
Hozier’s first album is tough to compete with, but he sure is doing it with this one.
Played this exactly at 11:59 on the 31st of December and it hit the chorus exactly at 12. Happy new year loves
Not gonna lie, this legit makes me feel like I'm in a fantasy story, and I'm here for it.
hozier gives you that feeling that your sitting in the ocean when your in the desert.
10/10 Best singer songwriter of the century
I love this song. it sounds like a pagan song; a man who fell in love with a girl born of the fire and a girl born of the earth. It's absolutely magical, utterly entrancing
Hozier is the definition of poetry. Look up the meaning of poetry and you will find Hozier with his flowers and instruments.
I love this, its like Shrike part II
''I would have gone with you to the end, into the very fires of Mordor''
This song is so gentle yet so fierce at the same time! It was love at first listen. So much emotion and power!!
The first minute of this song is some of the most soothing music to ever bless my ears
Beautiful!! Love this!🌼
Michael Hutchence is hauntingly coming thru in the chorus. Intense..
Unfreakn real how brilliant this is. From the composition and absolutely incredible lyrics/poetry to his voice & delivery. Perfect
This song is one that brings me energetic comfort. The way he sings is the way that I aspire to be like. The instrumentals are just as it needs to be, unique, a tale of adventure. Each piece of this song could stand as a good solo but together there is no physical greater peace.
The aesthetics of the song to me gives a beached rocky forest. The trees all a warmer vibrant green contrasted by their shadows. The feel of the warm smooth sand under your feet while hanging out with a best friend even if you don't have one. There is a dark grey mountain beside you that holds tall stocked dandelions (not puffy) sparcely spread across along with patches of moss and a small water stream.
i don’t think i’ll ever be the same after listening to hozier. this music makes me want to run away in the best way ever. like i could kindly and gently decompose. like i could mean something without ever being known.
I love reading the comment section of songs like this, because I swear this type of music attracts the most beautiful souls 🥹💗
