There is no one better at putting a film like this together! Wollaston is a special place, if you are someone that wants to guide for a living I highly recommend applying to guide there! I can truly say this place plays a huge role in who I am today. Going to miss this place a lot!!!
Couldn’t have done it without you buddy ❤
I didn’t realize that you’re still guiding up there Clayton…..wow! Great Vid Jay
Hi@@JaySiemens
Unreal. 20 years clayton and you don't look a day over 65
Man I loved seeing you in this, Clay. That moment when Jay landed that fish, watching you support them and how your mindset was already tuned, 'it's all about them and whatever I can do to make it more special'. THAT is why I love Clayton Schick. Thanks for being you, Clay.
That filming though... You have such a remarkable ability to tell stories!
Get off your ass and like the video. Over 3000 views and just over 300 👍. It doesnt get any better than this!!!!!!😂
Beautiful film. You’re not just a master angler and a Canadian angling goodwill ambassador, you’re one hell of a storyteller too. Amazing.
Beautifully put.
Agree! content and editing is awesome for sure!!! Wish I had this same team doing edits on mine! haha!😆
This is fuego 🔥
Fantastic storytelling. Guiding has been my life for the last 20 something years. It becomes so closely tied to ones personal sense of self and identity. It's the way I discovered to go through life without "working" a single day. Thank you for telling the story.
Phenomenal!!! If this video was around 15 years ago I’d be a guide now. So cool to hear their perspectives.
The "stay humble" comment really describes all of you well.
The videos this year are hitting different. New levels are being reached.
I really enjoyed this one jay. What an awesome production man you nailed it.
Amazing film!!! 👏 🙌
And way to go Paul, I'm stoked for ya! Looking forward to seeing you continue to grow buddy!!!
Great video Jay! I’ve honestly thought about guiding just so I could learn more about fishing. This video makes me want to pack my bags!
That was a very well put together video, very informative, and I wish I was about 40 years younger. Great job Jay and all the people involved.
Amazing cinematography and editing. The presentation of the material and the fishing itself, super!
Another top notch video! The story telling, the incredible videography, the big fish! There's so many different things I like about Jay's fishing/filming style. I think Jay should have WAAAY MORE Subscribers but I'm sure the channel will continue to grow! I Love fishing, photography and videography myself, so I naturally gravitate towards Jay's content and look to it as inspiration and what I would like to work towards and achieve for my own channel in time. Awesome video!
I'd Love to know what camera was used for filming this video!
Amazing video Jay! You are truly one of a kind!
Wow, Jay. The story lines in this and everything about how it was done, just beautiful. Bravo!
Amazing video Jay! Every video brings a new level to your story telling abilities and the way you capture video. My favorite fishing content creator by far. I just bought my very first boat and awaiting delivery, I’m so excited to get out there and experience it all. Thanks Jay!
I am not a guide. But water safety and bringing the clients safe home should be one of the priority's too. Reading the weather, knowing rocks, routes, first aid. I would recommend sunglasses and hats all the time for guests, with the throwing. You get al kinds of people onboard, people that never fishing before and people who know a lot..
We have a lodge similar to this in my lul home town. La reserves beauchene. 4 hour drive from toronto. Trophy fishing of all types.
Great video jay, I just applied a couple days ago. Hopefully gonna get a job there🤞🏼🙏
Awesome video wish I would have done something like that 30 years ago instead of starting at age 59 just doing the UA-cam side.
This film really is going to help explain to my friends and family what I do for a living. Thanks Jay!
All I’ve ever wanted to be was a fishing guide. Dreams not gone, just delayed
This video is such a big inspiration to me, my local community college has a outdoor entrepreneurship class and a outdoor photography class and I’ve loved fishing it’s been my dream to become a guide and those video just builds to the dream
Jay, your films are always good, I always say good stuff, but this is freaking good stuff!! Great stuff!!
I loved the video. Great job on the video. Keep up the great videos and I hope some day we can make a video together sometime.
This was such an educational video thank you so much for putting this out there i hope to start guiding in the ext few years!
My son told me about your channel, at first I thought this may not be good 😂 I think it's amazing what you have done, the videos are amazing, this video in particular hit me because it brought back all of these memories of my dad. Anyway, if you ever had a pair of Rollerblades I designed the first one with my friends and was on The History Channel, I just like you chased the dream
What a wonderful video, and wonderful people! Jay and Clay are top notch. Watch all of your content, but I have to say….. These vids really pull at the heart strings. Editing GOALS!
Thank you Jay! ❤
Haven’t watched yet, but it’s gonna be a banger. Love you jay
Been going to Jan lake just south of here for years, would love to check out wallaston
Amazing to see Jay pass on everything he has had taught to him self. Very wholesome moment to see how happy Jay was for Paul to be happy. One of the best episodes to date.
Tight lines
This is a top notch documentary. Better then anything on tv
Guiding now is a lot different when I started in the 90's.We had Hummingbirds that we used to find structure. We used our interstice more than anything else. But we also used the other guides as well. I sure do miss it!!!
I’d love to see a video like this for ice guides. That’s WORK
Great footage and great story on guiding! As a guide, I feel there are so many different types of fishing guides and one shoe cannot fit everyone. You have charter captains and first mates and guys who prepare meals and those that do overnight trips, saltwater, freshwater, ice fishing. The one common denominator is that it's a service industry and at the end of the day if you provide an enjoyable and satisfying experience and service, then everything else falls into place. I couldn't agree more with the give and take, be humble and listen more than you speak it's their day, not yours. 21:30-22:30 hit me right in the feels..
Amazing film Jay! You are truly a magician when it comes to creating content like this! Well done!! 👏👏
Jay, you’ve done it over and over again! Bravo on another great presentation. Been watching your videos since your inception, and I can say you’ve been a huge inspiration in my pursuit to become a fishing guide. Keep it up brother! 🎣
After this video im inspired to go guiding this yeah👍🏾
Truly enjoyed this. Exceptional.
Amazing film, further inspiration for myself to pursue a fishing career. Thanks
one of the most passionate and detailed vids from you.....thank you for being so humble.....heck of a future for you
Another masterpiece jay! Bravo
Just in time to inspire people to be guides this coming season
Very well documented as always. Jay and Clay back to the beginning. Very cool for you guys to help the new guide! I'm sure he will be one of the best in the near future!
Looks like an amazing spot to fish and relax! Great story of the guides and how much commitment, takes a certain individual.
Awesome video Jay your story telling is amazing and the quality of these films is top notch!
Cool!! Tied some things together.
This was fantastic. Gave me goosebumps
Really enjoyed that film, Jay! Solid edit, as usual!
8:50 This will likely be an overlooked statement, but that particular guide is thinking high-level. The premise of seeing what others need even when they may not be able to voice it, is incredibly valuable and powerful. It's the stuff of fish stories before your friend's final farewell. What a beautiful video Jay, can't say enough about this one, it's a barn burner in my eyes!
Jay Siemens story telling through video is absolutely breathtaking! The editing, the sounds, the angles, and drone work are flawless. Incredible!
So nice I watched it twice... I just realized, we want to film like Jay and fish like Clay!
Awesome video jay, Thanks for sharing with us the life of a guide.
Always an amazing story teller! Great video, Jay!
What an awesome moment awesome film, I think that as outdoorsmen and women we’re all in this for something way bigger than ourselves and the greatest joy is passing down our knowledge to the willing to learn and the people who bleed that same blood as you
Such a great film. Really shows the difference between a good guide and a great one.
Very professionally put together. You didn't miss a beat in telling the story. Congrats on a well told profession. You guys all work your butts off to make sure your clients get on fish and land some.
Phenomenal video jay, I could rewatch it quite a few more times
What a solid video Jay...
Amazing vid Jay. Well done. 👍
He's so lucky to get to fish with both of you
What it is to be a fishing guide?………. Nailed it man. Excellent interview/mini doc.
Unreal video Jay, nailed it again! ❤
Excellent film gentleman
I laughed, I cried and I WANT to fish more. Great Vid, TY
"So that's what a fishing guide does."
Whew, that made my eyes water. Jay is changing the fishing industry.
Great video! Love the B roll. You are the GOAT for B roll shots.
As someone who's also been a guide, this film is extremely accurate and as usual, very well done! Great job Jay, Clayton and everyone involved!!!
SIGN ME UP!!! Beautiful film Jay!
As someone who aspires to be a fishing guide, this is exactly the video I wanted. Thank you jay.
After 18 years beeing a guide in the north i can relate to this....amazing work!!

Wow! Absolutely amazing. Thank you!
What an incredible video! So thankful to have been given the opportunity to be a part of this amazing project. These are the kind of memories that last a lifetime. Jay knocked it out of the park with this one!
Truely no better experiences and joys come from guiding and this was such a beautiful way of capturing a good part of the lifestyle and the passion many of us share!
I started flying in to Wollaston Lake in the late 60's self guiding with a 9 foot zodiac and 2hp mariner huge fish then
I always self guided. Thank you for sharing this a lot more to it then I ever thought.
Awesome video
I'm not a guide but watching this makes me want to be one... except I can't catch fish... is that important? lol jk jk...
Such an enjoyable watch. ❤️✌️👍
Jay, just incredible! The best part is you are so young. We have decades of you work to watch in the future. And it will only get better!
Amazing video jay
Homerun!!! I laughed, I cried, it became part of me! Hahahahaha. I was thinking about doing a video on this subject but I'll just forward your link!!
I was a fishing guide in Alaska for 4 years. I call it the unequivocal moment in my life. Your film captured the essence of what I treasured every day in that job. Thanks for paying homage to this way of life.
Man what an awesome video.
Top moments
Absolutely awesome video! Thank you for sharing with all of us. Myself and 7 of my University of Wyoming college buddies from the mid-1980's will be at Wollaston on July 6th and this film has taken our excitement to a whole new level, well done!
I enjoy watching you videos so much. Totally envious of your film making skills! The passion for fishing grows every time I watch one of yours of Claytons as well as other outdoors video's. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us!
Epic video Jay, I run my own trout fly guiding back home in Australia. I have been toying with the idea of guiding this season in Northern BC or Alaska and this video has sold me on that lifelong dream! Thankyou
Jay your my idle
Awesome video guys. It's always great watching Jay and Clayton. And for paul hopefully you stick with guiding. One day you might be right up there with the big league guys!
QUESTION: For all you pro guides out there, how do you deal with people who dont practice good etiquette when handling fish? Thanks!
Absolutely beautiful film man. Great story and as as usual amazing videography.
Jay- Big fan checking in from Northern Maine. I paused this video less than one minute in, to stop to tell you thank you in advance. Thank you for this video, thank you for everything. I discovered you last ice fishing season when I stumbled across your underwater drone bass video. You ultimately became a great inspiration for me as I recently got back into the more intense and extreme ice fishing from my younger years. Hopefully I can find a way for you to become inspiration for my teenagers as well, as I’m desperately trying to get them into ice fishing. They were raised on open water fishing, but I can not get either of them to go out on a lake in the winter. Thank you again for all of your advice and insight. In between working and fishing, I’ve been binge watching your videos for the past several days. Game of inches competitions are the best thing I’ve ever seen or heard of, fyi- Simply incredible. Looks like a worthwhile amount of hard work & hard play. I’m trying to get my local crew of Maine fishing boys involved in something like that, but our working schedules currently screw that up. Congratulations to you and your family and all of your success. I wish you all the absolute best. Maybe someday I’ll get the chance to make it up North to your neck of the woods in search of my true passion, trophy trout. Until then, I wish you great luck with the fishing Gods!
