It seems like he was able to get much quieter with the beginner bow. The professional bow also was quieter during the quiet parts. Was this just technique or because the bow itself is thinner? Maybe the hair straightener adds this feature?
I think it's negligible. Only differences I noticed with the beginner bow were minor hiccups (which I suspect are on the player :O) He's probably not used to it!!! And maybe a less sinus sound??? Still sounded hauntingly beautiful though. I think the differences mainly come from play style and performance techniques. It's about, as Mr. Sung Wah put it, "what I'm familiar with" In terms of tone, technique and, quite frankly, what the song passage requires you to do (however you accomplish it) So Don't be discouraged by the "beginner" in beginner bow. If you like what it does...keep it. Just dare to try something new and see if you can be comfortable with that
i love these videos :)D ... my question is, is it okay to have a few of the hair strands hanging loosely? When i see some of them hang from the main strands, i use a lighter to get the hair back into the grouping. Do you use a lighter/ or do you let some hairs just be a little loose?
Hi Mandy! Thank you for watching our videos and thanks for the comment too! We actually made a video for this exact problem! (hint: it's just as what you did) ua-cam.com/video/XRuWZm23i0s/v-deo.html
I could certainly pick the difference in the quality of sound produced. Very informative, now maybe time to change my bow.
