It's so awkward seeing this ride operate without loud techno music XD I think that makes this the best recording on YT to showcase just the ride - thanks m80,000 :P
Sean Flaharty You're welcome! It's great that these European Beasts are making their way to Americaland but it's a shame that our carnies don't know how to operate them XD
I agree that these rides don't operate like they do in Europe. It's a real shame. I couldn't believe the difference of riding something on insane mode in Europe as opposed to the way it would run in America, with the exception of some of the rides at Coney Island in New York.

It's nice that someone can share my pain - Europe does an insanely good job in their rides/attractions industry and we get the chance to catch up and an operator forgets to close the restraints... a real shame
For everyone who is still interested: Active cooled, separately excited DC Motors are used. Typically they are controlled via two antiparallel B6C thyristor bridges for full four quadrant operation.
I rode this last year (end of March-ish 2013) nobody was in line for it(dont really remember why it might have been early). I thought it would be fun to ride and I honestly enjoyed it. I would totally ride it again.
I believe that is what happens but I wasn't totally sure. It feels that way. But that might be because of the forces that are felt when the gondolas start inverting, putting riders in a different position.
Its fun but unfortunately when me and my husband worked with them their was a accident. Jisy saying be safe out there and remember these people working on and operating these rides run on very little sleep. Worked like dogs too. I enjoyed it but was some of the hardest work I've done in my life.
yea i plan on going Sunday. im pretty sure they will either have this ride roped off or take it down completely either way i wont be riding it anytime soon which is sad because this was the only new ride at the fair
The NC investigators are saying the ride had been tampered with before the accident. That's sicko. A few days before that there a was a problem with a safety restraint.
It was not broke it was ok but the Problem was that when the ride has ended and people were getting off the ride resarted without no warnings then people fell off the ride
Unless they have another version of this ride in the states, I thought I had read somewhere that after its accident in North Carolina, the ride was removed from operation.
I just watched a video of how this ride started up again with people about to get off and they weren't strapped in... and they got flung off. And now watching this ride my heart is racing and I usually love carnival rides. Idk FFF that lmao my kids need me
this ride injured 5 people at the nc state fair last night. It was stopped and being unloaded and started running again before people got clear. 2 people are in serious condition right now.
Many years ago (about 3 or 4 years), the Vortex was a French ride. (between 1997 and 2012). His french owner thought it was a good idea to sell it to the US. Then he got a Street Fighter TP instead of this very rare machine (only 2 in the world)... Great deception. Hope that it will be sent back to Europe soon...
+Frank Reich Thanks for the history! I love riding European flats while in Europe. They seem to run so much more powerful over there. This ride was an exception though. It was great.
Tru your right i have common sense i just wasnt thinking i was pumping with adrenaline , yeah i am very thankful i was not involved in that i hope they recover, the operator was arrested
@@SeanFlaharty the ride did in Ohio and it was operator tampering in Raleigh. The guy was just convicted. He didn’t kill anyone but seriously injured them restarting the ride while people were getting off still.
@@dreamerjs Do you know what issues it had in Ohio? Anytime I visited the fair that year it was always running. Then I heard in the news it had an incident in NC.
@@SeanFlaharty the Ohio one had rusted areas inside the arms not in a place you would typically inspect. It was from it being outdoors and the water collecting at the bottom of the arm. It’s why the seats detached.
@@dreamerjs Are you sure you are talking about the same ride? There was a horrible accident at the Ohio State Fair on a different ride where the seats fell off, killing 18-year old Tyler Jarrell. This happened in 2017.This happened on a KMG Fireball.
If you want a fun fact, here you go: when this ride originally toured in europe the women in the backdrop weren't censored and then it came to the states an artist was commissioned to draw bikinis on all the women to censor the chest and some sort of cloth was added to the back to censor their butt's (I have no idea what it's called) :)
Are you taking about the NC fair? If so, I don't think anyone died on the ride. They were seriously injured but I haven't read any reports of fatalities.
OMG I got on this ride yesterday the worst day of my life , there was no warning sign about loose items and droped, broke, cracked my new phone and lost like $3 in quarters
Sean Flaharty eaxctly. If I remember, he desabled few secutities. Before to be in USA, the ride was in my country, France, was held by mister Courchinoux, and had no problem
Rose Barr There are two different restraints on that ride to make sure you stay in the seat. Both provide some room for the rider, while safely keeping them in the vehicle. You may have moved around quite a bit, but I do believe you were still very safe while riding.
victoriawilson2110 All the news and safety reports I have read have said there were no fatalities in the accident. Do you have a link to a news story mentioning the girl? I would be curious to read it.
Sean Flaharty i apologize it must have been something else but in the report i read it said 5 were unconscious but only three regained consciousness but most of them were critical but i still refuse ot get on this ride..only because of what happened
victoriawilson2110 It's a shame what happened. I still would go for a ride (or hundred) if it came back to Ohio. The chances of it having another accident like that are very slim. The majority of ride accidents are from rider or operator error.
Unless there was another accident other than what happened in North Carolina, no one was killed on this ride. Injuries yes but that was due to the ride owner tampering with the electric system and operator error.
I'm sorry but if you don't have enough common sense to know that a ride that spins upside down might cause you to drop things, then nobody can help you. At least you weren't one of the five people that were seriously injured riding it today..

I agree. i rather go to a European fair, they add excitment to the ride and lights.
What kind of motors are on that ride, they must be powerful AF
+NeXTSTORMING Good question. Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you. :(
Imagine if your at the bottom on the platform while its swinging around at full power ( major injury ).
U r correct boi

Danarius M. That’s death not injury
I know people got injured but I would definitely still ride this !!!!
Hi mi name is josh Adams
hope this comes to the state fair again this year! it came to iowa last year, hope it does agin
for those of you saying it's not safe they have to check the rides before it opens to make sure nothing is loose or broken
other place ????
I mean that's not what happened tonight at the Ohio state fair...
kennedy right.....
They don't Take it too serious in they USA. Check Out Germany. I can Go in every Ride, fearless.
Well they must not do that at six flags
This one just came to the states like five months ago from France. It'll be around for a while.
I doubt I’ll ever come across one of these rides (Michigan.) But if I ever do it’s a must ride!
That is one wacky ride. Imagine they had this in one of the cedar fair parks that would be cool
It was a very unique ride experience.
@Robloxkid Robloxkid While there were some injuries from people falling, not everyone fell out.
I hope it will be there next year as well.

I remeber the last time i was in the NC state fair i heard that there was a accident in Raleigh and it was this ride that was the one
The accident happened shortly after the ride had left the Ohio State Fair. Same ride.
before, this ride was in france for fair, Le Havre, Paris, Dijon, Bordeaux......
Thanks for the info. I had no idea where this ride came from.
Flower Gondolas And A V Shaped Center

Neither did I. I was really surprised to turn the corner and see it running. It's a great ride.
Vortex - Zahramay Falls Dallas - 2009

Yeah the ride operator was texting and accidentally pushed it to start, as people were trying to get off the ride
This is what happens when you let Top Spins, Frisbees, and Sizzlers, share the same room.
And (funnily enough) I wouldn't mind going on it.
This is really good so my mummy mite go on it if we see one.

It be ace if this came to the UK! I'd ride it!
I rode this for twice last night so much fun
Why does ohio get vortex...... i want vortex:(

this thing is great
I love vortex ride in Ohio state fair
This ride malfunctioned in the NC state fair.. pretty big news in NC right now
It appears that the rotation speeds up when it inverts, which would be a good thing. Is that what happens? Looks unique I'd ride it (at least once!).
Heard five people fell from Vortex in Raleigh, NC, tonight, at state fair. No further details.
I went on a similar ride like this it’s called energy storm and it’s blue
Dis, looks Krazy
WOW what a great looking PUK ride.... My brother would love it after eating some greesy Fair food!
it had an accident this year in NC state fair,
This ride used to be in a different country way before it came to the US
The company that manufactured this ride is Italian.
All aboard the nope train to nope ville
thats a crazy not safe ride
If satan made a ride

How can anyone stand this ride it looks so scary

No. Av
That is cool
I was on that ride and I didn't get injured it was super fun

Did they put it up for sale or no?
I am not sure.

at first I was sure not bad but once it went the air and how it goes vertical down no way nope.

I had heard that before but wasn't sure if it was true. It makes sense as I have seen nudity on a few rides at fairs in Europe.
I have been on this ride
Im going today and Im riding this

What happen to the vortex ride
The ride had a operator error incident at another fair which had serious injuries. I don’t know what happened to the ride after that.
@@SeanFlaharty they took it to the scrap yard
@@arthur.jaanus Oh no, our French Vortex :'( it's so sad :'(

Awesome
Vortex with 32 seats
I want to ride this ride it's a cool ride

People must puke all the time in this ride lol
Your blood rushes to your head but it is safe there is like 4 stapes and a over head
Amber Chivers iiiii
Not minding the fact that this ride malfunctioned some months later
oh hell no
oh hell yeah! i would be on that ride within a heartbeat ! ;)
So Sean was the vortex owned by amusements of America
I believe so. I am not 100% though.
No
Apparently too much considering what happened today..
butter cups
So....much....maintenance....
This should not be legal lmao
Why not?
I almost fucking pissed myself
It is not safe
The rides accident history wasn't caused by the ride itself but rather operator error.
