- In this plugin walkthrough I'm looking at the new Fairchild plugin collection.
Universal Audio has recently renewed their Fairchild plugin, and added 2 newly modeled versions to the new FairChild limiter collection.
The Fairchild 660 and the 670 models each have their own sound and harmonic distortion. The plugin bundle consists of both of these 'vintage compressors' modeled after the original hardware and the legacy 670 plugin.
In this video I'm doing a complete walkthrough of the plugin.

seriously, wikimedia makes better tutorial on UAD plug ins than UAD does.

what about (hr - bal) knobs ?
It's not totally clear in the video, but when you use lat/vert mode the input gains still control left and right so should be set to equal values, and you have to unlink the sidechain or it's compressing both parts equally and isn't lat/vert...!
Very true my friend.. It can do "Dual Lateral/Vertical" when the sidechain is not linked and it does "Stereo Lateral/Vertical" when the sidechain is linked. (I think I have kinda showed that around 2:00 somewhere in the video.)
-However I am thinking of doing a full session video of the fairchild in use. Since it's a lot of theory!

So the legacy version of the 670 isn't as accurate as the mk2 version? Sounds shady!! What happens in 10 years with the mk2 version whe the next wave of technology hits? Will the previous 2 emulations be useless?
It's all about processing power. With UAD-3 they'll release mk3 version with analog inputs noise emulation or smth else.
The point is - someday it'll come very close to real thing but not 1:1 'cause no digital can be the same as analog.
Well its like Cars, remember when a v6 only got you 180hp and now a inline 4 gets you 201 horse power. Well with progress comes improvements.
