Learn how to play Movin' On, as performed by Bad Company released on their 1974 self titled debut album. Another great rock song that employs an Open C tuning to achieve a different kind of rhythm guitar groove. Though the tuning is different than the Open G tuning that the Rolling Stones used, the feel is quite similar, but the sound is different enough to create it's own thing.
The lesson covers all the rhythm guitar and lead guitar parts.

I appreciate your trail blazing path to what was done. I love it! Thanks! One rocker to another!
🎉😅
Awesome lesson, very well done and super approach, like the new solo approach. One of. My favorite Bad Company songs. You Rock, love your channel.
Spot on! Great tone! Great playing!👍🎸🎵
Thank man! The opening sounded like open strings but I could not reproduce the sound. Alternate tuning possibilities did not enter my mind. Now I feel better about what I’m doing in standard tuning.
The Classic go to for me!! Thanx Doug!!
Nailed it. Really like the approach of play-through, summary view of fingering position, and some commentary. For me at least, that's about a perfect level of detail. Always appreciate the notes on small things like the finger-picked staccato section. Continue to really appreciate your content, nice job!
Hey, man. Great, great lesson. I had this LP on vinyl back in the 70s, and my childhood band covered “Can’t Get Enough.” Of course we didn’t know about open C tuning, we were 14 years old. But I never forgot this great LP or my absolute favorite tracks, Can’t Get Enough and especially this one. So happy to have this info and you nailed nailed nailed it. Mick, being English, would say, “You got it in one, well done, mate.” I’m pretty sure he would. Great song by an underrated composer and guitarist who was never better, for my money, than on this tune. Thanks again for sharing such a well-done lesson. Paying it forward and passing it on. Good karma for you! Jack
It’s interesting to see how they did this in the studio but pretty impractical for live performance. I play it in “false G tuning” by just playing the D,G,B strings using the Keef chord at the 5th fret and changing the intervals as appropriate (all in standard tuning) so I can do the solos in standard tune. One of my favorite Bad Co. songs!
All good!
That is incredibly clever!!! 🎉
I love this song, according to the old lesson I had on this, the solo was shown in that same raised tuning. I preferred your original play by play method but thanks for this too.
Great song, I'm glad you did a video on this.
Your break-in at the 11 minute mark was perfect, IMHO. Very effective- a nice departure, to narrate instead of re-record. Slowing it down on your end, with the tab on the right-side was also very helpful! I have a guitar in open E...now I need another one in open C? Oh, okay...sorry Mrs. Teledriver. Nice job on this video!
Nice work!
Thanks again for refreshing my memory on " Moving On " Great idea on swapping the G & E strings.
Another great lesson I know I picked the right channel to learn music keep up the great job
Punctuation?!
Great tutorial. Yes I do like the commentary and analysis by “future me” I like the chord grids for the scale shapes too. Big up!
A nice juicy one 12 Ft. Thanks for your great tutorials ♪♫♪♫♪
Absolutely fantastic video have a wonderful day 😊❤😊
You are a great player! Great guitar teatcher!
Thank you
Most Excellent......THANK YOU
Great Content Sir
Great Choice and accurate as usual
Videos are awesome. I appreciate you
I am depressed, no Standard Tuning., what a 😞 bummer. Great Lesson. Awesome lesson.
The lead is though 😀
See my comment
Oh! That makes sense! Genius!😊
Great Job again 12..Thats such a great solo..I read all these comments about Mick Ralphs being a hack,,Ive always loved his playing..read an intrview yrs ago and he said he wrote both songs on a tele...saw them twice thier first tour in 73-74.and he played Cant get enough in standard..You do such a Great job on these tunes...and as they say if you cant do it ...copy..and thats what I do with your vids...a tune I would love to see is Miss Judys Farm ,,/ Tha Faces /Ron Wood..the intro anyway..I have never seen anyone play it correctly...Keep them coming Thanks a lot...Dave
Played it many times in bands in standard, never considered open tuning, let alone open C! Wow
Great lesson.. Love the Open C string switch trick. I do hear the “Honky Tonk Woman” similarities throughout the song but to me, the ending lick is almost dead on for the beginning of “Tumbling Dice”..
Right Doug...you REALLY are forcing me to tune my guitar to open "C"....ok...i'll give it a go...because it sounds damn awesome....cheers.
Great video on a cool tuning! I bet you could play this in Keef's open G too. Maybe not a effectively, but it could work. This C tuning has to be tough on the neck unless you pick the "right" strings as you have done. Thanks!
Yep, the open G tuning would totally sound great too
I really love how you try to get that original studio sound.
Thank you! When I can...I try
Very cool job breaking down a great jam, I saw these guys in 79 with Mick Ralphs and it was an absolutely incredible show! Is there any chance you could breakdown "Like You Do" by REO Speedwagon? Great jam, not much on it on the interwebs.
love bad company
Another alt tuning..I’m way to lazy..even with the keefer stuff.
How do you play that "2 bar Wha Wha" part before the lead kicks in, great job on the tune, I always loved this song and some friends and I had a band back in "74" when we were 14 years old and that song always sounded good to play!
Nice , any chance for a lesson on oh I wept ?
Great song choice and lesson. Thanks! I wonder if you tuned your guitar to Open G and capo'd it at the 5th fret if you would get same sound and chords.
It would be very similar, yes. Give it a try!
@@12footchain I did just watch a couple live videos and neither guitarist is using a capo, so I do believe the way you played it is the correct way. Thanks.
I wonder if you could tune to open A or Bb and use a capo.
All you really need is a tele. All guitarists on desert islands with only one guitar either brought one or wished they had.
just curious mr Chain..do you have tuning issues with your Les Paul?
A little but not too bad.
Have you done anything to help it?@@12footchain
Did you break any strings tuning to C?
no, i swapped the 1st and 3rd strings, and that made it easy. so G string was now in the 1st string position tuned to C with no problem. the 1st string was put into sting 3 position and tuned that to E (which it normally is) so that seemed easiest
Can u do sum lessons on free plz .....maybe ( Mr big ) or ( walk in my shadow ) big fan of free....... kossoff was sum boy on the axe 🎸🤘
Do it without the music in the background. Covers up your mistakes.
Way to show your goods right at the beginning! Too many guys talk too much at the start of their videos. Bullshit walks, music rocks.
