Elegant solution. Logic conditions and global functions really good for managing VTX power through smart audio, which is handy if you're running a totally-legal-within-your-jurisdiction 2000mw VTX and dont want to knock out the phone towers when you're just noodling around in close proximity. You can even set the logic condition based on distance to home and have it adjust VTX power autonomously. Next experiment is to have flaps automagically deploy below a given indicated air speed.
Howdy, yea that ability to do that is well cool. As for speed. Probably not the best idea to deploy flaps automatically, as on a day like today, in a cross winds they'd have been out the majority of the time. Matt
@@RagTheNutsOff Yeah definitely assign auto flaps to a switch lol. I run pitot tubes so in theory it should account for wind speed. Famous last words...
"don't like programming on the Taranis" "logic is where it should be, with the model" Yes indeed. This setup and logic defining idea shares some striking similarities with the thing I'm working on.
What about using the flaps as normal on a knob and when you flip a switch, the flaps are now ailerons. Or.... the flaps are flaperons normally . Can you help me figure that out. Obviously, the flaps are on separate channels. Thanks for the video. I'm trying to figure this out.
Hi Matt. I run some motor gliders out of a fairly tight field. An essential aid for landing is crow braking. 3 position switch(channel 7) mid is half flaps 3rd position is crow. Running Inav 2.5.1 on a matek f405/f722. Frsky XSR receiver. Inav mixer, flaps (channel 7)on pass through, has flaps set in mixer with weights reversed (ailerons go up). Flaps set on modes (channel 7) on 3rd position of switch. I have camber (affecting only the flaps) set on my transmitter, 3 position switch giving 2 settings of camber. It would be nice to be able to run camber on both flaps and ailerons. My present setup is an either/or choice as regards crow or full camber. Any thoughts please?
instead of using the "greater than" and "lower that" operation you could use "low", "mid" and "high". I found this easier because these values are corresponding to a range, e. g. "mid" is between 1333 and 1666.
9 channel radio and then I use this right to control more outputs then I have channels and just use one channel to get another two ? Kinda like that. But well explained. Thanks !
So the flaps are not flaps???? Let me guess.. a duck is not really a duck? please explain. IMO there are many kinds of flaps. Simple flaps/plain flaps slotted flaps split flaps fowler flaps double fowler etc. etc. but all can be called flaps, especially when used as such. benifit of doing everything in the FC program is that you can clone the program and it will work with any transmitter/controller. good on you for diving in and doing tit that way, although i'll have to say i'd rather use arduplane. but preference. hope you have a good maiden.
@@RagTheNutsOff So it's like the Crocodile Dundee "That's not a knife. This is a knife." Ok, i get it now. Why not just say that in the video? would be funny, and relatable. :)
Matt thanks for the video I'm going to make you proud of me when I come up with something cool with the Logic Conditions. I do have a question are you planning on making a video on the Way Points the only reason why I ask is you has mentioned it in a video.
Hey Richard, yep way points are coming. Working on bigger picture stuff at the moment and I'll get that video recorded and edited as soon as I can. They do work and really well too.
bit late to the party but my bait boat has inav and waypoint etc with servo drops to empty the bait tray then move 30cm (not as accurate as id like) then drop hooks.
i am new to plane why not just put a flap function on a switch alone. when you flip the switch down, the flap goes down and when you flip the switch up, the flap goes up. maybe i miss something. you needed to show the actual servo moving. good job tho.
That's what's confusing the F out of me. Some tell me to just add flaps to a 3 position switch and add the mix in inav of where the switch is and that's it. Then I see videos like this that completely through me off. I'm about to just tape the flaps and just not use them. Way to complicated when I'm sure it shouldn't be.

School is back! How exiting!
A*
I would use this for locking in a fixed throttle position on a switch for just cruising.
Like a glider for slowing the model down on landing some run the motor for drag, nice idea!!
Great lesson.

So many possible parameters to play with 👍

Hey Garry, not sure on this. It would be best to play with a couple of options and see what works for you in the programming tab. Matt

Hey Dan, oh wow I didn't know that. Thanks!
Have you tried inav 2.6. Is it possible you can get a video to explain how to use that.
I've been struggling with programming flaps based on gps ground speed in inav. (complete PLC noob).
Any help is greatly appreciaited.
I as well. Bout to tape the flaps and call it a day.

They're not barn-door flaps like on a Tundra. Now that's flaps!

this is just my opinion, but it's a lot just to put a flap. i still don't get it.

i used the same setting and my flap did not work.
just put a function for flap and that's it.
