I just wanna pop on here real quick and show some appreciation. Your original iNav series on the Omnibus F4 is what got me into fixed wing FPV. I had been messing around with some quads for about a year, but was intimidated by the prospect of building and setting up a plane with iNav. A LOT has changed since then, and I'm so happy to know you're making a refresh of sorts for the next round of new pilots out there. Stay safe out there you crazy bastard, much love. ~Ken
The Inav plane you helped me setup 3 years ago or so is still working great... good to see you back talking Inav again...going to go look for your matek build video now,,,, cool man,,,,
Great video, thanks! For trim adjustments set all surfaces to neutral before launch, fly, trim and land. Then set trims to the oppsite value, if you had -12 of elevator, set trim to +12. then loosen clevis and set elevator to neutral and then zero the trim. No pins needed!
Hi Matt, here's a quick tip for setting the board pitch angle quickly. Set a channel for a switch and a channel for a potentiometer, then in the adjustment tab have the switch channel activate the pot channel and set to apply "Board Pitch Adjustment". That way when you are flying in Horizon mode, when you flick the switch the pot becomes active and you can turn it one way or another to increase or decrease board pitch angle. If you combine this with an alternate OSD view that includes "Board Alignment Pitch" then you can actually see the settings change. Simply adjust this value until the model is flying level. There are plenty of adjustment that you can make on the fly this way, but this is the one to help with level flight.
For you iPhone (and iPad) users, the JDY-18 Bluetooth BTLE 4.2 module works great on any spare UART, and can -also- connect via BT to MacOS running iNav, BetaFlight, Libre Pilot, and just about everything else.. Most of the other modules I've tried have worked with only with either iOS or MacOS, but not both. JDY-18 is tiny, and available cheap from Amazon, Banggood and others.
Very nice info about the gps, thanks for that. I also have a tip for those that accidentally disarmed in midair, and couldn't get the damn thing armed again because they forgot to move the throttle stick down (like me), and that is Set disarm_kill_switch=off, that prevents disarming when throttle isn't all the way down. If i knew that sooner it would have saved me from a few brown trouser moments.
Morning, everything works fine. Just be wary on an upgrade from below version 2.5, you'll need to make a diff file and use that conversion tool or set your modes up from scratch. Besides that A OK. Matt
Great video. I tried to cross to the dark side, from Vector to iNav. I could never really understand why the trim incorporation had to be so convoluted. The truth is with foamies which are stuck in the back of the car and expand in the sun, they usually do need some re-trimming on each flying session. I did raise a software change request to add a similar function to incorporate trims from a switch with the iNav devs, but this was unfortunately kicked into the long grass. It *is* normal to be able to retrim an aircraft. If it wasnt, the full size ones would not have trims, everything would be factory set :-) Keep up the great work nice to see you back.
RagTheNutsOff due credit to ‘Mateo Mysterioso’ in the Inav fixed wing group who suggests trimming the model, as you suggested, using tx trims. Then land, activate Autotrim for a few seconds, thereby recording the new midpoints to Inav, then disarm and return the tx trims to neutral. Sounds as easy as the Vector osd method.
You can close expo from receiver tab, trim the airplane and go to motors tab when your model and tx is on and then note the servo values and enter the values as servo neutral position then trim back your radio to center. This is basicly incorporating the trims.
Very informative as always Matt, lots of new settings and some great tips too, I am about to setup an F4 Noxe V1 flight controller with Inav (when I work out the correct fw version ) so your guide is going to be a big help 👍
@@RagTheNutsOff As mentioned at FB, there's currently no official inav target for the (updated) NOXE V1 FC. Only Betaflight has a target for that (FLYWOOF411). But there's an inofficial HEX file for inav 2.3 at bit.ly/37M0kLs . I will try to create a new up-to-date target for inav > 2.3 in the next couple of days (but don't hold your breath...).
@@RagTheNutsOff In stabilized acro, fly towards the wind, don't touch the sticks, close your eyes, flick the auto trim switch, drop your pants, play for two seconds, open your eyes and resume steering, your plane is trimmed. Then wait for your mates to stop laughing and tell them a good joke while you land. When you disarm the new trim is saved. Flicking the switch back and the trim jumps back in the previous position. Then your neet trick loosening the rods scenario can be applied, connecting a battery. Don't forget to pull your pants up before you start walking.
Matt "Happy Days" I did the GPS speed upgrade setting by changing to UBLOX7 it works great. I do have one question for you. I noticed in your Modes Setting you have selected NavHold, NavAlthold and Nav Cruise is that for your 3DCruise Mode I thought you only need to select NavAlthold and Nav Cruise to activate 3D Cruise? If I have already told you Thank You so much for making videos on Inav again it's like the good old days watching you again.
@9:30 re trims... no need to do all that. set trims in the radio like you would normally, get it flying straight then hit auto trim. once it kicks in, clear the trims in the radio, then just land and adjust pushrods
Thank you Matt I have the C1 and the Phantom 61 so I'll do a twin build Does it make sense to go with a RX6R. I'm a FrSky guy by the way smaller longer range and this side of the pond FAA is LIS or 107 lic. I am a sport flyer so off to shopping for building bits Thanks Frank
Howdy Frank, I've not used that reciever. Personally I would suggest looking at the R9 kit from FrSky or dare I say it Crossfire. The latter is what I use and my only complaint is the price. Matt

What might be causing this to happen? I reviewed all mix and read a lot of manual regarding setting, I can't seem to find the solution, Is there a hidden Throttle mix that I can't see? Can it be just a very minor tweak that I fail to setup? Thanks a lot.
Great Video Vlog! Very very informative inav 2.5.0 setup! Keep up the amazing vlogs bro! Need some help though on setting up a buzzer. I have assigned a matek buzzer to a switch in my Tx and upon bootup it functions normally then without flicking the buzzer switch it just starts to beep continously after 6 seconds? This happens in the ground when i am setting up.. Is it because the board is in failsafe mode? or because the GPS has not found enough satellites yet to arm? Appreciate the Help Bro
Hi Matt I@m trying to build a 250 class quad, I have turnigy tgy I10 TX. I have a big problem with setting up omnibus F4 v3 pro on Inav. I've tried ppm and Sbus not getting inputs from my radio. I'd prefer ppm as most of my quads use it. I've soldered the pads for ppm and sbus . No joy. any suggetions?
Is it possible to connect a pi via mavlink to a FC running INav for the purpose of utilizing a 4G Stick to stream live Data from a flight? I've seen pixhawk and ardupilot having Mission control centers that allow live tracking. Can inav do that aswell? I really don't want to go back to ardupilot but I really need a live update of where my plane is for long range flights.
Hey Shawn, I love both? Cruise is great for hands off flying, just point in one direction and off we go (I use with alt hold too). Horizon, I use for nearly everything else, landing, flying and only manual when I need absolute control. Hope that makes sense. Matt
looking for some real help i have a zohd dart my 3rd one you know how that goes but i have inav set up working great other than when the plane is in stabilized or horizon mode the plane rocks back and forth at 5 degrees each way i have tried auto tune for an hr lowed the P gain to 0 nothing seems to be working never had this problem with any of my models need some help please
Howdy Donald, that does sound odd. All I can suggest is the obvious, auto time the model and make sure you save the settings, make sure there is no slop in the controls (servos, servo holes, push rods, co from horns) and also to try someone else's PIDs to see how they do. Beyond an auto tune, I never play with the PIDs ever! Matt
