I've researched soundproofing miners a lot in the past year and this is the BEST video BY FAR on how to accomplish this. Very thorough and goes over every step in detail. Most other videos on this topic are less than 5 minutes with little to no instructions. Ultimately I did something similar for my miners last year but it is great to have all this information in one video. Maybe I should make my own video showing what I did as well. Thank you!

Putting the phone 1/2 inch from the asic with the lid open then 6 foot away with the lid closed is not a sound comparison, its what we call attempting to get a desired result.. Having said that it is good that the community is looking to solve these problems.

It’s also pointless to use 8” tube reduced to six inches on both ends. And I would use flexible tubing which is much lighter and less cumbersome to deploy.

That seems small for air displacement . go to junk yard get old fridge 30-60 USD without pump drill 10in hole from freezer top to lower level.2miners in fridge exit hole out of freezer so freezer is empty hot air collects from bottom fridge pulled into freezer exhausted out freezer threw section in what direction needed plump exhaust and under 70db under few hour weekend project For more sound dampening and vibration use dynamat or boom pad it's used in car stereos to deaden vibration and acustica rattles .. . Just another idea might cost the same as that expensive looking nice cooler.

Epic tutorial ! Very good quality and very inspiring. I’ve got a few ideas for improvement. Maybe swap the exhaust and intake so the exhaust has a bend at the end. People have used downturn exhaust to help with noise in cars so it may work with this

In you're willing to spend extra money to get more sound reduction, you can add an inline fan to the intake. I have one from AC infinity with an air filter box for dust control. The added intake fan keeps my miners fans spinning at about 4500 rpm, which vastly decreases volume.

Noise level is usually measured 1meter from the noise generation source to create a control. A little distance difference will cause a lot of noise level difference.

  • @juggernautz
    @juggernautz 2 роки тому +1

I used a fireproof gun cabinet & added sound dynamat but rather than a direct intake port or hole I cut the intake holes at the bottom, used plywood raised 10 inches off the cabinet floor to deaden sound and keep the air cool until it turns up to enter the asic port. Same for the exhaust port, with both wood sections 3/4th of the width is wood and last portion allows air to flow naturally up then out. I have 2 KD2 machines that produce 55db and my cabinet reduced sound to about 35db. I used a cell sound level app to determine db so its not as accurate as a regular sound device. I need to make a video so its time to look into YT cam stuff.

Very cool. I'm curious what kind of effect this has on the overall efficiency due to fans possibly having to work a little harder to compensate for any pressure loss on the fittings.

Sorry for being negative but this doesn't really do too much in my opinion.
I couldn't post a picture but you need something like a big case (like a PC case tower but then size x3-ish where the inlet and outlet air travels like a snake through "scoops", like walls,, the outer case double sided, all with the "eggcase" insulation.
I made this and it actually reduces my sound from 90dB down to 50dB (up close).
I've also used flexi ducts on the inlets and outlets, to create even more "blockage", this all driven by an inline exhaust fan (180mm also to allow for expansion === more dampening of sound) doing about 800m3/h, "pulling" the air through, just sitting on top of the case (I can sound insulate that one too but doesn't really bother me much).
My outlet air goes out through the window, I can even put the case outside of I wanted to.
Again, sorry but this can use a lot of improving.

I think that all the work that that guy did to the box to make it sound proof was excellent. However I think it is a job halfway done. I would suggest that you have two more holes in that box another intake putting cool air inside the box and another exhaust getting rid of hot air. My point is if you were to do a test and measure the temperature of your minor inside the box and then measure the temperature of a minor that is not inside of a box that's just open on a shelf I am guessing that the miner inside your box is going to be much hotter and it's going to fry everything inside and the life expectancy will be much shorter then a minor that is sitting out on a shelf.
I am not implying that the box is a waste of time I think it's excellent but I would get a second air flow system to cool down the miner itself

Ive been using these picnik coolers for t17 and s17 as well as s9 asic miners without much isolation only makiing two holes on both sides. One to let the air out on that side i remove the fan covers and put plastic toilet piping than continue the isolation with the tubes used for airvents in the kitchens it reduced the noise for almost 30decibela, the longer you put the airvent the less noise it makes.

Definitely did a great job with the build! I noticed that there's lots of dead space inside the container which can be filled with even more sound deadening material.
Would've also been interesting to replace the fans and just have all airflow provided by an AC Infinity intake and exhaust, considering the amount of air they can move that might be very effective.

These boxes are great, but i wonder how it works like longterm.
The Biggest issues are a compromise between Noise, Airflow, Temperate and Dust.
I figured out after a few mounts of mining that airflow is probably the most important thing wenn it gets to mining, thats the only thing that will cooloff your Asic.
Dust will allways come in, no matter how many filters you have, if you develop your filters to much, that less airflow will come in, so i have figured out the best way is to let that things Breathe and clean them with an air compressor at least once every two months, it depends were you leave, better will be once a mounth.
If you clean them they will run with no issues, if you cut that amount of Airflow they will Die sooner rather then later.
My Temperatures are like 50-55 inlet and 67-69 outlet, Air temperature about 22-25 degrees Celsius, Fans are running most of the time between 3800- 4200RPM and the noise is acceptable.
During Summer days i still can keep the Temperature in the room like at max 28-30 degrees Celsius, ich is Perfekt.
of course i have then more dust that comes in, but iam not worried about that as long the Asic is getting enough Airflow and the Temperatures are okay.
The other thing that worries me a bit, is that the air pressure gets increased due the Pipes, that may not be good for the fans longterm, i would also like to test how the Airflow gets affected by the Air pressure increasing.
At the end, thats an incredible and useful idea, however, how it will work longterm is just the time will tell you.

you glued the black vibration isolation with the first layer. In this case, it does NOT bring any useful efficiency (=0) is !!! vibration isolation!!! waste of money for this position. try to do the same without this black mat and you will get the same result. Also look at the specification of what frequencies the black mat absorbs.

Based on your test it still seemed very loud at the end of the exhaust. If you extend the exhaust to blow outside of your garage won't that complicate things? Or is it dampened enough by the cooler and the extra hosing needed to where your neighbors can't hear it?

But Yeah this box idea is perfect for anyone living in an apartment that has neighbors on the other side of the wall .. for people at home you may not even need to put any sound control material, just the box sealed should be good .. but man very impressive the amount of work going into making that box 👍

Great, great content. Kudos to the guy that made that box. Long hours of hard labor. Two possible adaptations are: use flexible ducts for intake and exhaust (provide flexibility for location purposes and decreases space requirements) and second, use a couple of AC infinity fans. One for the intake and one on the exhaust (half way through by cutting the duct and attaching it back to both sides of the fan). These fans will increase air circulation and will keep the ASIC fans running at lower RPMs. In addition, the noise level would most likely go down a little. I have a different box on my basement for an S19j Pro with this kind of setup and ASIC fans rarely go above 5000 RPMs, low noise, and great are circulation. Also, the AC infinity fans can be programmed based on temperature measurements inside the box. Hope this helps.
