This is So cool. Thanks for sharing. I would love to see more of this item. I love ❤️ your hugie I need to get that pattern, but the back needs to be a bit longer for me.
I find this little loom absolutely fascinating. I think it would be really interesting to see this scaled down for band weaving or scaled up to rigid heddle size. You'd have to do something about the small shed size though. Just...interesting. I'm loving this series.
I enjoyed watching you work on this loom. I don't think I personally could have, as a child, figured out how to use this loom. I had trouble in my teen years to figure out how to do rug hooking. My Uncle helped me with that. 😊. Now I just bought myself an Ashford 8 shaft table loom. It is still in the box. I am a bit intimidated by it. I started with an old RHL I bought at a thrift shop. I really like weaving. Thank you for your videos, you are very helpful.
Congratulations on the new table loom Beverly! All new things are intimidating to start with, give it time and patience and you will be fine. Start with this assembly video so you don't have to endure the headache of trying to do that on your own - ua-cam.com/video/zrjLJC30xao/v-deo.htmlsi=UBcEKG3hVV4XgwXB I also recommend you enrol in my Weaving on a Table Loom course, it will help a LOT! I'm having a Black Friday sale next week, just to let you know 😉
@@KellyCasanova Thank you, I have watched those videos and are very clear. Even i could understand it. 😊 I would buy your class, but I go to the library for Internet access and only have a short time to watch. So I download what I can to watch at home. I have learned a lot from your regular videos to be sure. Have a great day! On second thought, I will check out your class, maybe I can sneak in a video once in a while. 😊
Wow! The design of this loom! The tensioning and shedding mechanisms are so interesting. I add my thanks to your friend who sent this to you. Would love to see you explore the tatami options. 😊❤
Hi Kelly. First time commenting. I love your videos! That loom is really neat. I'm wondering if you're familiar with the Clover looms that are made by Clover Japan. They are more rigid heddle looms and beautifully made, but the warp isn't locked in the heddle as a traditional rigid heddle. I have a Clover loom but have only woven tabby cloth on it. I think you could do some interesting things by manipulating the warp on these looms. As a new weaver, I haven't built up the confidence to try this...yet. If I found one of those Tomy looms, and it was complete and reasonably priced, I'd snatch it up. Thanks for sharing. I really love that you can see the potential of "toy" looms. Please keep sharing your finds.
Oh.. I like. I want to learning weaving and I have seen a lot of video years ago of japanese tutorials using this loom. I am going on a search because I feel like this could be a great introduction to weaving. So I am going on the hunt😊 great video👍👍😋
Oh nice!!! It is like a mini Masterweaver weaving loom. I've been searching for one for many years now. Could you ask your friend where they got it from?
I purchased one of these looms 25 years ago in a Tewantin ( Noosa district) for $2 complete with instruction booklets etc. I make scarf lengths although the product was sold as a product to make placemats. Love it!
I LOVE the toy loom videos you make, but i guess i love all your videos. i have a toy loom myself. Its the Beka one. I have the 10 inch. It's just a ten inch rigid heddle on a boxy frame. no winding beams. Hard to describe. I don't think you've done a vid on it but i love it. i use it for sampling ever since i got my 20 inch "real" rigid heddle loom with stand also from beka. The beka looms have beam teeth similar to how the toy loom in this video does. And I do wish I had gotten another brand for the full size loom due to that reason- beam teeth- (...and a couple others but oh well.). I feel like i'd prefer an apron rod (-which i believe is the equivalent mechanism on other RH looms.) I think the teeth act differently when you're warping more length than just front to back and have to roll it on. But hey i'm pretttty sure I'm getting a floor loom for Christmas! Very excited! The only thing is that it's no longer in production and others online seem to have trouble figuring it out 😅. I may have to take one of your courses! Which would be exciting, i've always been interested. :) ...... Have a good day, Kelly. Love the toy loom vids. !
@KellyCasanova it’s going to be a Sabina I guess you call it? “Sabina Folding Loom Loom Craft Studio Wilmington Ohio” the tag reads. As long as all goes well but the seller seemed happy when we talked today :)
@ I just made the deal today so have read very little about it but did find a blog of someone fixing one up. They wrote: “Sabinas are rising shed looms, but don't use the jack mechanism that most modern rising shed looms use. Instead of the treadle causing a scissor mechanism to raise the harness or harnesses, the Sabinas use a system of pullies and chains to raise the harnesses from above. This causes many people, myself included, to think they're counterbalance or countermarche looms.”
Loved this video and your series on toy looms…not just for kids! I should love to see you weave a Tatami weft faced weaving video Kelly. Shame I left Australia in ‘76 and missed out!
I actually wanted this Loom, but my parents didn't buy it for me. 😢 I'm still eager to get me one and I have been to many second hand ships in search of it. 😊 EDIT: Yes, I'm definitely interested in a TATAMI video!
We didn't all get what we wanted back then, which was actually a good thing, I think! But I'm sorry you didn't get your loom, I hope you find one somewhere 😊
This loom is really quite advanced for just a toy, isn’t it, with the variety of patterns it’s capable of. It would be quite a find. I like the firmer beat and the purple weft pattern though having the contrasting stripe in there is attractive.
Yes, definitely more advanced than some kids looms! Quite easy to warp though, and no real "threading" as you're just placing warp threads between the discs.
Could the "not so clear" sheds be because of the "half positioning" of some of the discs? For example 2/1 & 5/6. I don't remember the exact settings you did.
I am interested! Have you used it? Another commenter just lead me to do some googling which took me to the Tomy handcrafts product page. I had no idea they still had so many children's looms, knitting machines and sewing machines 😀
@ I have used both the weaving machine and the knitting machine. (Although I have no idea where my weaving machine went). Knitting machine works brilliantly for demos and when I need to travel. I’m home next week, so I can send pics if you want?
Is like Card weaving! Very intriguing loom, thank you for share!
You're welcome, thank you for watching!
Oh my goodness. I Love this. Could be my answer to multiple heddles on rigid heddle loom!!!
Hi Kelly I Love this little loom. Very interesting. Do follow up please.
You're welcome, I will!

Great to hear that, thank you!
This is so interesting and I would love to see a follow up video! Thanks for sharing your toys! lol😊
Thanks Lisa 😊
This little loom is amazing. I think it would be hard for a child to do. Ingenious.

I definitely will!

Hi Noel,
Thanks for taking the time to comment!
No, I haven't seen the Clover looms, I just looked them up, interesting 😀
First produced by Dryad as the Mini Masterweaver.
This Tomy loom should have a copyright mark on one end.
Brinkley Looms (UK) are similar.
This was super fun to watch...i have never heard of this nor seen this and I use to do a lot of yard sales as our girls were growing up.
Glad you enjoyed the video 🥰
Hi Kelly. To me, the blue weft highlights the "texture" of the pattern, especially on the longer floats.
Yes, I agree, it's definitely more textural which can be beautiful but not always as camera friendly when you want to show a pattern 😊
The pattern shows up best on the third pattern run, but I really do like the texture of the blue band. Definitely yes to the tatami. 🤗
Thanks Patty!

I'm pretty sure it was a gift from a family member. I think these would have been available at Toyworld back then.
I purchased one of these looms 25 years ago in a Tewantin ( Noosa district) for $2 complete with instruction booklets etc. I make scarf lengths although the product was sold as a product to make placemats. Love it!

I know next nothing about floor looms so it’s all gibberish to me so far. I’ll be researching while I wait for the day of the exchange
@@KellyCasanova what’s your floor loom that’s no longer produced, if I can ask?
Hej, I love to se the tatami weave. And love to you to. I remember why I get my toy loom for.
Great, thanks!

Try looking up the 3d printed Weberknecht loom? It has the same type of "heddle".

Yes, definitely more advanced than some kids looms! Quite easy to warp though, and no real "threading" as you're just placing warp threads between the discs.
My first loom was made by Fisher Price. I was 8.
Lovely! Was it wood or plastic?
It was plastic with a levered shed mechanism. Easily found through a quick online search.
Could the "not so clear" sheds be because of the "half positioning" of some of the discs? For example 2/1 & 5/6. I don't remember the exact settings you did.
It's possible. I did weave another sample before this one with no half positioning and I do think the sheds were clearer 🤔
I have one of the pink toy knitting machines… can dig out more details if you’re interested?
