Daniel thank you for all you do for the US during tornado season. You save lives and give advanced warning, sometimes those few minutes or even seconds are the difference between life and death!
Listened to Dan spotting storms through Kansas tonight (5/2/2018) on the scanner radio app. The guys who do this for the Skywarn network deserve medals. I honestly don't think that people understand how important this is to keep people as safe as possible. As far as I know they aren't paid a dime and the information is absolutely indispensable for the areas affected by severe weather. Plain and simple, these guys save lives and alot of them.
This guy keeps his cool in the worst of situations! You have to see his May 31st elReno video, the long one is worth watching because it becomes very haunting from making you feel like you are right there in his car with him
+Medic Webber So I'm a fat bastard, am I? What an interesting way of interacting with people: "Let me make a pejorative comment about someone, especially if I lack the sagacity to detect veritably obvious sarcasm, and in the end would be relegated to eating crow." I'm clearly referencing the MTN program he's using that advises when one is approaching a storm in which rotation has been observed. I know to exercise caution because I chase storms every summer.
I love the education these vids provide. When I was a kid there were so many myths....I was ten when the 1974 one happened and I remember my Grandpa saying that we were probably safe in Cincinnati because we're surrounded by hills. That myth was busted in a BIG way that day. He had simply never seen a tornado do that until it did. And Xenia is located in flatter land between Cincinnati and Columbus, so at first it looked like he was right. Then the next day we heard about Sayler Park, a river community with hills all around it.
I was 9 in 1974, and we got hit by the last tornado to hit, and it happened in Atlanta, Georgia and Stone Mountain, Georgia. It was an F5, and I'll never forget it. Whenever we get a tornado warning, I have to get everything I can find to cover me, because I live in my own condo now, and there's no basement. It's a good thing I have a bathroom with a tub, a matress, and lots of pillows. My cat and dog won't know what's going on, and I hope they'll stay with me.
I was driving home from work at Frederick and heading toward Lawton. I had to stop at Elgin and run into McDonald's bathroom for shelter. Had no idea it was that bad.
The police put themselves in those locations to allow their lights to act a beacon for cars that may or not be coming down the road. It's to prevent them from driving smack into the tornado in low visibility situations.
actually when its raining to hard light impair your driving cause it reflects of the water. same thing in fog. the best light is low light in though situations.
No it didn't look like it was raining but it did get dark! My... My... touchy aren't we? Chasers think they own the road but honestly they need not only to look out for the tornado but other people on the road as well! Wonder if Chasers get in accidents whose fault it is, percentage wise? PEACE and PRAYERS for those who lost LOVED ONES and property!
Also shout out to my high school at 835 lol...this was a crazy day. My sister was sitting in the couch eating soup and had no clue the sirens were going off!
I love Tornados but not when they hurt people :( and i heard Kansas might get hit by one >_< Thats were i live :( but im sure nothing will Happen they say on This Sunday
Seriously, Why do people have their lights on? So Idiots like you don't hit them as you are driving crazy in the rain! Seriously! Oh my it might save their lives and you worry about your camera shot! Seriously? In the state of Ohio it's the law when it rains you put your lights on!

"When the Dominator leaves, it's a good time to go!" very wise words
+DoubleVision When the Dominator leaves, you're already in Oz, more like.
I agree there
As soon as he said that I scrolled down to the comments. Great advice.

Fantastic footage, I want to come back to this one day, loved storm chasing, one of the best experiences of my life!
Around 12:20 you hear "approaching a twisting storm please use caution" . Anyone know what that is? I have heard it on some of his other videos.
So...the question that's on everyone's mind....Did you approach this twisting storm with caution?
Those twisty storms are sneaky little fuckers.

Caution must be fat bastard. It constantly needs to be exercised.

P.S. I will not read your reply. I wouldn't bother. Again, are you kidding me?! Get help.
What is that grate on top of the SUV? Is that for blocking hail and/or standing on to get better pictures?
I may be wrong, but I think it's for blocking hail.
The grate chips the hail down so its not so big if it hits the windscreen
That's my hometown area! So glad to see this footage! I'm a Lawton girl!
When you were outside the storm that was a beautiful shot! The wall cloud, rotation, etc.!

You passed my old apartment as you blasted down Gore between 52nd and 38th!
As usual, Dan, another great video!!
Was that not a burning power pole? Isn't that one of the things you would report?
What catagory was it on the scale thingy
but it's not raining,is it?
Wow, it's really hard to see, so scary but so beautiful to look at. However, rest in peace to those that died earlier this morning or last night.
at 10:27 that siren sounded really realy messed up almost like batteries dying on a radio.
katie horton thats actually how its supposed to sound. i hear it when they test it if i happen to be at my Omas house.
i didn't know kind of creepy sounding though.
its a thunderbolt siren they aren't equipped with battery backup
What software are you using that tells you that you are approaching a twisting storm?
Baron Threat Net if I'm not mistaken
what kind of radio station or canal using storm chasers ? where i can buy . im located in USA IN. thank you
kajus001 Get your amateur radio license and you can participate in weather nets
Are you from Australia? I just love your accent. ❤️
Yes this guy is Australian like me and we are a tough species
@Luke Nelson do you realize that Kansas is part of Tornado Alley
Awesome cloud structure. I'd love to see something like that in real life we seem to get these bad storms only at night.
Rain wrapped tornadoes suck! When it's rain wrapped you can't visually see it, and it's very unpredictable at this point! Stay safe out there guys!
That Thunderbolt siren wasn't sounding very good.
I was driving home from work at Frederick and heading toward Lawton. I had to stop at Elgin and run into McDonald's bathroom for shelter. Had no idea it was that bad.
Interesting video!..my question is.. why do the police put themselves close to these tornados.
Micki Harris Imma save you 😉
The police put themselves in those locations to allow their lights to act a beacon for cars that may or not be coming down the road. It's to prevent them from driving smack into the tornado in low visibility situations.
What is Daniels Call sign? lol He has such a strong accent when he calls net control...

The sad this is is that this was on my birthday.....it was the worst birthday ever I said “cheers to the birthday party in the storm cellar”😂😭
Shout out to the Lawton PD!
Also shout out to my high school at 835 lol...this was a crazy day. My sister was sitting in the couch eating soup and had no clue the sirens were going off!
The tornado warning sirens remind me of the Cold War, when the air raid sirens went off the last Friday of each month.
I believe a large number of Civil Defense sirens from that era are still in use across the midwest and are used whenever Tornado Warnings are issued.
@@AJtheRatty Reminds me of the Cold War.
