I studied engineering and I was scared to read anything beyond my syllabus books.I used to be so unhappy and stressed coz I was running away from what I wanted. You have encouraged me to embrace my creative side and explore it too.We are human beings and made up of different elements, not just one.

Youve been my role model recently, ive found your channel om YT about over a month ago and the content you posted caught my eye. I was already in the mindset of CHANGE, and i knew i needed a change in my life with my social/academic/home life and i was alwayss hesitant at first bc i didnt know where to start. With your videos, ive used your tips and what not bout studying and jus living life theRIGHT way where id have to take care of my mind andbody. And man im tellin ya my life is so much better after coming across your channel in just a few weeks!. My life is not even remotely the same as what it used to be.. i never cared for school at the slightest bit, i always tried to rush in and out of school but now ive opened my eyes to a whole new woorld of endless possibilities and now ive found a huge intrest in science and have begun improving so many different parts of my life. My biggest goal is to finish high school with me bringing up my grades as much as i can to get into a great college to study medicine. I took time to write this to let you know youve impacted my life amazingly and i apprecaite everything youve done homie. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND CONTINUE TO DO YOU FAM

great video john - this reminds me of my college days... i'd re-arrange my room once or twice a year to keep things fresh. crazy what something as simple as moving some furniture around can do to a workspace.

@@thejohnfish i have a question. My exams are in 10 days and I cant study. I dont have much space in my room to move my desk or other things around. i usually produce music on this desk. Ive kept all mt guitars and speakers away but my pianos still here as i dont have space to move it. i used to study well on the couch but we moved houses and its noisy in the living room. My question is that is is ok to study on the desk where i produce music

I found your channel a while ago and there is something about you that's really pleasing. I know it has nothing to do with the topic of the video but it's hard to find people like you that draw us in only with their eyes and mind. I see myself a lot in yourself, this place where there is acceptance but also will to grow and that could never get tired of improving and learning. I hope you realize how much of an inspiration you are.

Two years back then I felt upset every time I watcher your videos bc your so smart and motivated all the time. I felt lost not being like you. Two years later when I rewatched this video, I just realized how much I’ve changed-I no longer compared myself to others but started to take in every piece of your advice genuinely. Your videos have always been inspirations for me. I don’t binge watch tons of UA-cam videos but I definitely check yours once in a while. Thank you so much for sharing all these wonderful reflections with us!

Instead of just entertainment you’re trying to help your subs by giving them great tips to make life better! I’ve only been subscribed for maybe a month now but what I’ve watch I just think is great!

In my college, despite it is a good one, we cannot move anything inside the room. For this reason I associated my desk with reading or study aloud, library (if there is place to seat) with study the subject, taking notes, and bed to sleep and watching stuff.
Here in Italy its sunny pretty much all the days now, and most of the time I really like to go out, walk, seat on the grass and read something, whether study or my fav. author, Isaac Asimov.
If I can suggest something that can help all of you in changing behaviour is wake up earlier than you usually did and go to bed later. I am sleeping 5 hours per day now, I am graduating in bioinformatics MSc. I wake up, take a walk, shower, coffee and I am good to start the day at 7:30/8, instead of 9 without walking and doing stuff more relaxed.
Liked the new format, a short insight of your days would be appreciated, as a Vlog.

Hey John, my name is Alvaro and I am from Brazil. I have been watching your videos lately and they are really helping me. I just got into College and I want to be a better person, student and worker every day. I started to read more and I’m loving it. The messages you have been bringing in your videos are really like what I have been thinking lately, so you helped me a lot to get closer to my goals. Your video about “how to take better notes” is very good. I liked this kind of video that you share how you did your changes and do your things. You could record a video about habits, how you do to have your good habits and what are they. Congrats man!

Love your videos, John. You've got razor sharp worldly perceptions and a knack for talking about things in a way that anyone can relate to and understand. Setting is such an important part of productivity. I'm currently taking an online course in Linear Algebra over the Summer, and just forcing myself to use my movable laptop desk as a place to hold my papers has done wonders for getting me to actually push through this work!
Also, just wanted to say that I have a wonderful friend that attends Harvard and he's possibly one of the kindest souls I've had the luck of meeting in my life. You guys rock! They really do pick some good students from all walks of life.

I’m in secondary school in the UK, but your videos help to inspire me so much. For instance, I’m now 3 weeks in to my ‘book-a-week’ challenge for the year; I’ve started to sleep a lot earlier and, therefore, wake up a lot earlier with a good, structured morning routine; I’m exercising more regularly, eating healthier and even looking after my mental health by meditating, too! Next up: studying more. I’ll update you on how this goal goes soon!

I think you've just changed my life. I study in my room(to get into medical school in Brazil) basically 24/7...and the thing is that when I'm stressed out or sad or without motivation I just jump in my bed with bad thoughts, or to see a lot of useless videos on UA-cam or even to study... And I also eat in the same table that I study, 😪 this have been my behavior for the past 10 years I guess. And I'm sure that when I change my enrolment today and stop with these kind of bad habits I'll be more focused and finally achieve my goal. Thanks for your tips 🙏

Funny I had just about the same experience this semester. When I returned to school in January I established really great habits for pretty much the first time in my life (like waking up at 8am every day and exercising regularly, etc.) As soon as I came home for the summer, I decided to rearrange the furniture in my room. Because I spent almost every previous summer sleeping until 12 doing and doing nothing, I figured I needed to make a change or I would fall back into those habits. Changing your environment even in the slightest can REALLY help put you in the right mindset to establish change in your behavior. I've woken up at around 7am pretty much every day this summer and it actually feels great.

John. i've trying yo implement the habit of reading since january this year, i had good weeks and bad weeks, mostly because i pressured myself too much wanting to read 2 or 3 books a week, i find that maybe with a lot more practice i could get to do that someday, but i've been enjoying it way more since i watched your video on reading a book a week, and i kinda feel like i locked in this habit in the last three weeks, i read on a daily basis and i feel a lot of joy when i do, i get excited and i look forward to next oportunitty i get to pull out my book and catch up with my reading. And i strongly believe in what you say in this video about the enviroment, a few moths back i rearranged everything too, and i changed the configuration a few times, i can say i dont feel like doing anything when my desk is desorganized, and i try too keep in here everything i could need.

Looking forward for more Tuesday videos! This was a great one Iit was funny to notice that I have been doing this unintentionally for so long. I didn't even realise there's advantages of only sleeping in bed, doing school work around dining table and watching videos mostly on the sofa, so I surely will change this habit from being unintentional to intentional. Also always nice to watch quality content in english. It's my second language so it's good language practise for me as well. Keep up the good work, your videos are really enjoyable to watch!

About what you said about getting a strong desire to change, a study showed that when one wants to do an activity the brain spends less glucose and to want to do activity you must desire the result.

I rearranged my room to have a reading nook like half way through when you mentioned that. I guess what you said makes sense because I usually get tired faster when reading in bed.
