Well yes but actually no Exactly! The words “Thank you Minho” further on in the movie would have had much more meaning if Newt told Thomas his story in the movie
I'm gutted they cut this scene out!! Damn this is the second time they've cut a really moving scene between these two. The first in Scorch Trials when Newt talks to Thomas by the fire and tells him he won't give up on him or let Thomas give up. Thomas and Newt have the BEST friendship in this saga and it's made even more powerful by these scenes. When we finally got Tommy twice in Scorch Trials and Death Cure just broke me!!!!
I completely agree M, I’ve never (to my regret) watched the movies in the cinema. But I’m a real movie fanatic so after watching the movie, I watch most of the behind the scenes and deleted scenes. So when I came up to the end of The Death Cure, I already saw the deleted scene from The Scorch Trails. Newt’s letter broke me, but after seeing this deleted scene from The Death Cure, I was crying. Also Thomas Brodie-Sangster is a great actor, in my opinion he’s the most important character in the story

Well yes but actually no I haven’t read the books but I personally LOVED all three movies! My friend read the books and (perhaps she’s in a minority) but she said she absolutely loved the changes the movies made because she personally found Book 2 so boring and she preferred the turn out and change in characters. Also in the movie Brenda tells Thomas she has a brother called Jorge but doesn’t know where he is. That WICKD took him but not her. And that’s the last we ever hear about it. Jorge isn’t actually in the movies at all. Apparently they also changed Brenda from being immune to not immune but I personally thought that served as a brilliant story development for Death Cure because it turns out Thomas’ blood actually cured her and destroyed the virus. I have of course read books and been annoyed by changes made in the movie adaptions but in some cases I’ve read books and I’ve actually PREFERRED the movie. And from what my friend told me about the maze runner books it sounds like I wouldn’t enjoy them as much as the movies
If you think about it newt is probably the most realistic character in the series. I mean anyone would feel suicideal and depressed if your memory’s were taken away and you were trapped in a maze with no reason why your there. Poor newt

@@merlekorner4641 honestly, the book was better because it has my favorite scene. It's when Thomas and Minho go to the ex-wckd doctor to get their swipes removed and Thomas accidentally activates the failsafe for his swipe and goes ballistic.
The fact that his actual death was technically a suicide makes this even worse 😭

From my perspective, *in the book* , Alby was the one who saved Newt after he fell because of climbing the maze.
These scene could've triggered those who read the book, as this scene is contradictory to the book
Nevertheless, after watching the movie, I do agree that this could have been included... This scene intensifies the essence of Newt's character, and the emotional impact to the viewers
@@jeanlialingling40hrs76 It's an adaptation. Although the readers are the big fans, the producers technically don't owe anything to them. Directors and Producers that work on film adaptations don't make it exactly like the book for many reasons. The most obvious being the timeframe; you can fit a lot more detail in a book than a movie, especially considering a movie is pretty much all dialogue. But the less considered one is that they want to attract new viewers. They can't make the plot too complicated or choose to go with a more interesting or convenient route that fits the story they want to tell; this makes a more action-packed, entertaining movie for the average viewer. To do this, they decided to kill off a wise and experienced mentor figure early on in the series to raise the suspense, but they also wanted to stay true to Newt's character all while connecting it back to the main plot. Newt "owing" his life to Minho gives him a much greater reason to try and do anything in his will to save him, even though it resulted in his death. If they decided to keep it as Alby saving his life, it would add nothing to the movies plot and only develop the character, whereas with Minho as the one who saved them, it does both.
@@jeanlialingling40hrs76 Also it generally makes more sense for Minho to find and save Newt. He was a runner whereas Alby wasn't. Why would Alby be looking through the maze unless he was looking for Newt? This would take away the secrecy of his jump, making this scene a lot less meaningful.

It makes more sense too cuz Minho was kind of like his running partner (fever code) whereas Alby wasnt even a runner so it didnt make sense for him to be in the maze at all unless he was looking for Newt and just happened to find him befpre Minho. I think Minho finding him makes more sense though
@@simplyexisting2735 in the books, like 30 of them arrive at once. Minho, Alby, Gally and Newt were among the first. So book, it would make more sense cuz Newt and Minho got there together and were running partners and it was only like 1 or 2 months maybe before thomas arrived. The movies we don't know who got there first, but it seemed like newt did it pretty soon after getting there and minho was around so idk

In the books he yelled this to Thomas and he said that he hated him and everything was his fault right before he died 😩😩 it was heartbreaking

The books version is so much more heartbreaking. Everything in the books is so much more heartbreaking with newt. Although, I think the movie portrayed it really well, regardless. I was crying, sure, but when Thomas read Newts letter, I broke down. It was happy tears. Tears that remembered the beautiful moments the characters shared.

I really hate that they had to take this scene out of the film - such an important moment and honestly TBS slayed that monologue. It was as if he became Newt in that moment. Beautiful.
When he acts he always fully lives his roles. But yeah, Newt is very special well played by him. Probably because of all the characters TBS played, he identifies the most with Newt. My poor boy :/

This was definitely a scene that shouldn’t have been cut
There’s something about this scene that is so amazing that it can’t be described. It has something to do with this being the most realistic backstory to a character that I have ever seen.
How a boy, who looks so happy, is so broken and in pain, that he doesn’t care about himself anymore and only wants to save his friend. How he is willing to die as long as Minho is safe.
Something about Newt always was different. Not just the accent and him being the best character EVER. Something deeper. This was it. Him describing something that was more common than James Dashner told, something that happens to so many people. Whether they survive or not.
Imagine how hard it would’ve been for Newt to hide his feelings and thoughts from the world. Dealing with depression and suicidal thoughts isn’t easy and having to fight through that while living in the conditions that he lived in must’ve been incredibly difficult.
Newt was always a loyal person and a great friend. He fought for what he thought was right up until his death. He knew he was dying but he still went into WICKED and saved Minho.
It’s also Thomas Brodie-Sangster’s acting. It’s almost like the pain in his voice is real, the expressions, the movements are so realistic.
Newt was and always will be my favorite character, he deserved to live in Paradise with all of his friends.
This scene should’ve been in the movie, it shows how close Minho and Newt are and how much they care about each other.

Newt is one of the most heart aching, inspiring, toughest characters ever to live in any movie I have watched so far. Even if it’s not a real person Thomas Sangster represents so much of newt and I look up to that.

This scene is so important because it solidifies his strong relationship with Minho and why he doesn't want to waste time trying to save himself. he doesn't want to lose Minho and he is willing to ignore his slow death to save Minho. I wish they could've put this in the final cut because it would of explained all of his actions even more than he did with his great acting. Even though he probably could have saved himself and then saved Minho he didn't want to take the risk, and he didn't want the crank he was turning into to kill Thomas so he kills himself instead.
Newt truly is such a wonderful character. He has so much vulnerability, but even more than that, he has strength. He’s been through so much, but he’s stayed loyal through it all. He was willing to die from the beginning to save his friends. I’d always wondered how his leg was broken. I read the books years ago, however I forgot this part. Now, as a teen diagnosed with anxiety and depression, this is very brutal to hear. Newt has always been the character closest to my heart, abs will continue to be until the end of time. Finding this out only made me fall in love more. He’s so strong. Minho is an incredible person as well. He didn’t shun or shams newt, but helped him. The maze runner is one of my favorite series ever and it’s because of details like this that make it so much more realistic and relatable than any other story.

There are so many deleted scenes I would've loved in these movies, but this one I feel was robbed of its place. Its such an integral and heartbreaking part to his character, and one of the main reasons I connected so much with Newt when I was younger, and still do. Still love all three movies, just wish they could've fit this one in.
They really should’ve kept this scene, it adds so much depth to this character. Newt has always been a character full of hope, loyalty, and strength. It’s important to hear that even the most wonderful people we all fall in love with are struggling. I have depression. I have anxiety. Newt is someone I relate too. He gives me hope. I have been a huge fan of the Maze Runner books ever since I picked up the first one, and Newt has always been one of my favorite characters in the series. I got so sad when I read page 250 that I was literally depressed and crying every night for a full month and all my friends were so concerned and I just didn't know how to explain the pain to them. Newt has always felt so real to me and so relatable and when I lost him it was like losing one of my best friends. Everyone probably thinks I'm crazy obsessed but I'm wondering how you can read these books and watch these movies and not love Newt so much it physically hurts.
It took me a while to watch the movies because I was just afraid they would run them but when I finally did I fell in love with Newt all over again. I had to watch the Death Cure at like 3 am because I just knew I was going to sob and I didn't want anyone to find out. Still when I rewatch it I do it in private because I become a mess every. Single. Time.
Anyway, when I was watching it I was just waiting for this scene but it never happened and I was really sad about that and now I'm so happy that I finally found it.
Sometimes I forget that there is more sadness to Newt's story than just his death. I forget him much pain he was dealing with and every time I remember I feel so sad that I ever forgot. And the way that he could just make a joke about breaking his leg even when you can hear the pain in his voice just makes me sob. Whenever I'm sad I imagine Newt comforting me, because I know he would. I know he would hug me tight and tell me it's all going to be okay even when he us going through so much himself and my pain can't even compare.
I love Newt so much and I can't understand how anyone would not love him. He has changed my life, and he had bloody inspired me 🙂. I'm never going to forget all the feelings I have had because of him, happy or sad or in between. I am going to love him forever and forever be sad that I will never meet him.
Newt is my hero. The world does not deserve him, but he deserves the world.

I just finished rewatching the whole 3 movies and watching Newts death scene made me experience pain so raw that I had to cover my face so my family couldn't hear me and I was choking for air and trying to hold my heart cause damn that was emotional.
This is much more soft and touchier how he told Thomas how he got his limp instead of in the book when he’s begging Thomas to kill him and he’s on top of thomas
