Actually a recreation with a little modification from Kevin Darrah's LED Cube RGB.

I learn the schematic from Kevin Darrah, and make my own style from it.
I made the PCBs for it so it look more beautiful and neat without all the cables.
And this is the making process from the beginning until finish.

I have built 3 of Kevin's cubes shortly after it was released...1 with clear leds and 2 with diffused leds....I decided to use 2803 drivers instead of lots of transistors....I have 3 veroboards , one for red , one for green and one for blue....plus a small board for the arduino , chips and mosfets....I would have liked a pcb to save time trying different ideas on connecting the leds to the 2803 chips.
I like the pcb boards in this video and think it makes a neat base without a mass of connecting wires....and it has a low profile unlike mine.

I really love this design, very compact. Is the Arduino not included in the kit? I presume there is an on board interface?
Hi. Glad that you like it.
There are 3 pcbs in the kit. 1st for the LEDs base, 2nd for the shift registers, 3rd for the MCU (ATMega328P) which is Arduino UNO compatible. All components needed are included :)

All I can say is "WOW" what a fantastic RGB Cube. I love the way you have used the pin headers to connect the boards together. Really neat and tidy. Are these boards available to purchase and at what cost, I have visited the PALTA store and can't see them. Also are the Gerber files available to get them made? If the dimensions are 183 x 183 mm it is a really compact board for a RGB board. The other RGB boards I have seen are 9" 228 mm I have been toying with the idea of building one similar to this.

@@ptanuri Thanks for your reply, could you tell me the exact specification of the 192 resistors please. I am guessing 200Ω Standard E24, ±5% value but I can't be 100 % sure. they could be Standard E96, ±1% value and what rating are they, 1/2 W 1/4 W.
@@KingWhiskers1 you should able to use any type. It is only to cap the current for the each LED.

I have cloned your design with a few modifications and size changes to make the led legs more even. I have sourced all the parts to make 2 cubes and I just need to get the boards made. I have copied your logo in miniature with a note to credit you and Kevin Darragh. It has been a learning curve for a 70 year old to get his head around Kicad and start from your schematic. I hope to get the boards made soon but other things and health issues have taken priority at the moment. Getting the schematic to work in the first place was a bit difficult for me because of errors I kept getting but eventually I got it sorted.
Now I have just found out why my eyesight is failing. I have a cataract on my right eye, this is operable and will hopefully be sorted soon.
Again, many thanks for your inspiration and hard work.
