Wow... You're not only a brilliant fisherman but also a brilliant Chef. Looked delicious mate. Gordon Ramsay got nothing on you buddy. Thanks for sharing. Tight lines and all the best.
Absolutely brilliant Video! I always learn from your techniques, especially with the cooking. Many, many thanks for uploading this Cal! And yes definitely do a live!! 😊
Just catching up your latest videos and, although I really enjoy them for the fishing, I think I shall be referring to your channel as Fishing with Chef Cal from now on. Although I'm fairly comfortable with fish in the kitchen, after watching a couple of your catch and cook vid's, I'm guessing you are a professional. Nice work with the bass 3 ways, I was salivating! I love your respect for the fish and also keep the occasional bass. Have you tried lightly smoking it? Delicious! Another small treat, when filleting, I like to put a couple of slivers aside. As soon as I have cleaned up, dip them in soy sauce for instant sashimi gratification. Please keep up the excellent work with the videos.
Hi mate, thanks a lot for such a great comment, I really appreciate it! I can’t say I’ve tried smoked bass before no, that’s something I’ll have to do sometime. Yeah I like to keep the occasional bass, I see no harm in anyone doing that every now and then. I love cooking fish.. and eating it! 😂 Instant sashimi is a winner! Eating fish raw is actually my favourite way to have it, fresh and full of flavour. I’m glad you enjoy the videos, thanks again! 🎣
Wyb I caught my very first Bass yesterday morning on SG Gravity Stick Paddletail. 47 cms, I couldn't believe it!Thanks Cal for all your extremely informative videos, I've learnt so much since I started watching them back in May this year when I took up fishing again after nearly a 20 year break.
Nothing spectacular!? DUDE! It looks fooking AWESOME!!! Literally cannot wait till our next fish feast, guess whose gonna be looking like a proper smart arse when the plates get served! 😁 Thanks for sharing, Cal, absolute blinder of a video, Sir!
Great vid Cal. Love the catch and cooks you do. The greet thing about ceviche is that you can make a million combinations of flavor. I made some vermillion snapper ceviche. Cured it in lime and then combined with watermelon, cucumber, chili pepper and chocolate mint.
Glad I’m just about to go out for dinner tonight, cos after watching that superb cook up I’m bloody starving!! You’ll be recommending wines next!😂 Might try that with some Bream👍 Top vid, great take as well👍
What a brilliant vid Cal. My mouth was watering after that cooking session. 😋😊 Theirs one or two things I would like to know. What breaking strain of braid were you using and also what breaking strain of leader line were you using too ? Also keep those vids coming as their awesome and ur doing an awesome job. Very entertaining 👏👏👍
This i how they were in jersey on the yak. Finicky / Swirling / not taking it properly. - Went to a frosty and they were inhaling it. - Your best mate will be doing a catch and cook now in the upcoming weeks :)
I got a new frosty a couple weeks back but it’s still in the packet. I’ll have to take it out and see if I have the same success next time they’re being finicky 👍🏼🎣
Hi mate. I don’t use a leader knot. I use a size 8 barrel swivel. I like to have spare leaders made up which I carry with me so I don’t mess about with knots on my lure rod. I’m using 20lb braid and a 20lb leader.
@@Banoffee-bs2oz I use 20lb braid. No it’s not too heavy for plastics, braid is extremely thin and you can feel a lot more then if you’re using mono 👍🏼
@@FISHINGWITHCAL Oh right cool thanks mate, great channel by the way!! So informative and I've ordered the slammer and it was really difficult getting the rod as it's discontinued so had to get a Shimano Technium AX 7-35 which I'm guessing is the next one up. Just need to get the braid haha
Wonderful. Thank you Cal!
Liked and shared.
Lovely size Bass, and the cooking made me drool. The whole video was great Cal. Keep them coming.
Great way of preparing Bass!! Was always scared not to cook bass, now I know it is fine!!

What do you mean "nothing spectacular"? That was quite a spectacular meal if you ask me. Great job!
Great video mate. Doesn't get more sustainable fishing than that. And now I'm starving hungry 😂
That looks very easy.....all I have to do now is catch a Bass and learn how to cook lol...really enjoyed watching.

Nice one chef , just after frying one myself and a bowl of jersey royals sent from home 😉
Sounds good! 👌🏼
Great job sir 👏
Great vid Cal. Love the catch and cooks you do.
The greet thing about ceviche is that you can make a million combinations of flavor. I made some vermillion snapper ceviche. Cured it in lime and then combined with watermelon, cucumber, chili pepper and chocolate mint.
Yeah that sounds brilliant! Last summer I did mackerel cerviche with grapefruit etc and that was very nice too. It’s such a nice way to have fish.
Glad I’m just about to go out for dinner tonight, cos after watching that superb cook up I’m bloody starving!! You’ll be recommending wines next!😂
Might try that with some Bream👍 Top vid, great take as well👍
Haha thanks mate. Yeah it works well with bream too 👌🏼
Great satisfaction when you connect with a fish off the top! I missed a brute today 😭 So seeing you land one made me feel better 🤣 Love the videos bud
Haha nice one cheers mate! I came across your channel last week, really enjoy the videos too. Look forward to many more. 🎣

Hi mate, thanks a lot for the comment! I use 20lb braid and also a 20lb fluorocarbon leader too. I usually use about 3-4ft of fluoro for the leader.
Hi Cal great cooking I don't know if you have samphire over there but if you use it in your recipes perhaps a future video?
Yeah we have wild rock samphire all around the coast. I’ll have to get some sometime 👍🏼
Hi mate. Seen you used the lazy lures.. do they cast act like a Patchinko?
Looks amazing, can you over do the cervche ?
Yeah you can. After a while it’ll just cooked straight through and start to flake apart.
Great video mate 🤙 it was the some for me on Sunday lunchtime had so many fish hitting the top water lure only managed one fish 🎣
It’s frustrating isn’t it.
Great video Cal, as someone that lives miles from the sea, very jealous that you can just pop down for an hour 😢
What spot was that cal? I was down by the jerbourg Hotel today and didn't do too bad, too much surf from the recent storms though
This was on the east coast mate.
Great inspiration to get out fishing ! Thank you for your channel, great watch. Better than TV.
Quick Q: Do you skin the fish for the ceviche ?
Thanks a lot! Yeah I removed the skin for the cerviche.
👏👏👍👍

Hey cal what breaking strain is the braid and leader you are using and what leader knot do you use.

Only started bass fishing last year & still haven't taken one. However, I think you've just signed the death warrant for the next taker. 😉
Haha. It’s nice to keep the odd one here and there.
What size Penn slammer is that you were using and what was the rod?
It’s a 3500 slammer and a Shimano Aernos 7-35g rod 👍🏼
@@FISHINGWITHCAL cheers mate much appreciated 👍
Also what line do you use in this sort of fishing? I suppose braid would be a bit heavy to use the plastic lures?
