@@garymacmillan6401 How? You literally have to sell your best players in the summer so you buy more lesser quality players. Dan Ashworth will have around 400 million to spend on the United squad this summer, and that's without selling our best players. Your club has literally won nothing. Your club doesn't know what it takes to even win a Carabao Cup, let alone a Premier League title. That Stavley woman has got you believing you'll win the league in the next few years 😂
I understand the idea of wanting everything to be done quickly as long as the compensation figure is met etc. However, for me, no club out there is doing us a favour (remember the Lingaard loan fee??) so we need to be awkward and play hard ball. Even though I'm not so sure he's all he's cracked up to be this is all about perception. We must Insist on the gardening leave and some kind of NDA to cover the summer transfer window period. And if there is even the slightest hint of a breach then get the lawyers involved and get Man U in court and drag them through it. Meanwhile, go and recruit two serious world class execs and give them slightly different titles to Ashworth and put them to work straight away. This is a perception battle - rather than a reality one - that we must come out of in a much stronger place.
Hate people referring to it as the man United project... its not a project if its already the biggest club in the world. Just another glory seeker not wanting to do the work but rather walk into the clouds. Suits them to be honest.
It's arguably a bigger project than Newcastle. They have a lot of dead wood around the club, earning millions a year and contributing nothing. Culturally the place seems toxic and needs an overhaul. The stadium sounds like it needs a lot of work. Etc etc. They definitely have more resources than Newcastle but I think they also need a much bigger rebuild.
Everyone deserve to go wherever they want. I thank Dan Ashworth for his service, #NUFC will hav to find another brilliant experience sporting director. Life goes on #ToonArmy #HWTL

Good year’s work for Ashworth. Spunked £55M on a player who’s banned, tied our hands on Hall if we want to play him, and it seems Eddie doesn’t, didn’t get us a DM or Striker in either window (which was actually his job), and is now off to…our PL rivals for fourth place…where his friends work…hmm….
I'm not sure he can be blamed for the fact that Tonali is a moron. Based on all the singing the fans seem to be happy with Tonali though, so that's something.. Also quite laughable to suggest Newcastle and Man U are rivals for 4th place. Newcastle aren't even close to that level.
@listey you have to be a Manc. If Newcastle finishing 4th last season means nothing for this season - where do you get the notion that last season for Man Utd gives them some god given right to finish above Newcastle? You're contradicting yourself.
Dan Ashworth is a mercenary simple as that and he shouldn't be attending that transfer meeting because he'll be taking all that knowledge over to Man Utd. We should go and get Michael Edwards but he's supposed to be more focusing on his own business so if not then I'd like us to go and get Maldini. That would be a huge statement. He knows Tonali and AC Milan won their first league for 11 years or something under him. I'm not saying we will win the league but he must have some knowledge for us to take in. The man is a legend.
Why would Maldini or Edwards come to Newcastle? 😂 The oil money has made you delusional, thinking you're much bigger than you are. You haven't won a league title in nearly 100 years, and a major trophy since the '50s. Ashworth is not a mercenary, he's ambitious. Why would he turn down an offer from United, which is a clear upgrade, to stay at Newcastle?
Im.ok with him leaving. Im just surprised it's such a big deal. People like this move around. Ultimately, i believe this ownership will source a fantastic replacement, and we'll inch ever closer to being the club they and the fans want us to be.
Lincolnshire was peppered with air bases as the area is very flat and its proximity to Germany same as Norfolk. 617 squadron was the RAF precision bombing squadron and is still operating today. Their motto is "Après moi le déluge" "after me the flood" following the famous dambusters raid.
I think losing anybody of such influence as dan ashworth this early in the development project at newcastle is a blow but ultimately if somebody wants away it's best to let them leave. No club needs people that don't want to be there. And lets be fair, dan ashworth may well have known about the constraints ffp but actually living with them when there are better offers on the table is a different thing entirely. I see no point in belly aching about this, i just hope we get decently compensated & can get a suitable replacement in soon. Cheers as always craig. P.S: Who the heck tears a pectoral muscle playing football? Callum wilson in made of playdough!
Love the posts Craig. Honest and insightful as per. My question though, is - if Dan left for man u he’d be going at the behest of a minority shareholder’s friend. Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t the Glazers majority shareholders/owners?
No big deal. There is far better available. Man U are welcome to him. A person who’s head is turned whenever someone shows interest is definitely not what you need. Man U will find this out in a year or two when his head is turned again.
Nice one. 🍺🍺 how does the lewis hall deal fit in with this, it seems Eddie didn’t really want him and ITKs saying clearly that’s an “ashworth” signing. That confuses me a lot.
@GEORDIEREVOLUTION yeah I agree and don't forget he also brought us Tonali and look what happened there. If Ashworth didn't pick up on that during negotiations then he is a piss poor business man. Either that or it was a deliberate ploy to screw us over.
I assume Ashworth wasn't responsible for the summer window because a man of his pedigree surely wouldn't have left us so underprepared for a Champions League season 🤔
The organisational structure of Manure is going to just as complicated if not more than NUFC & therefore he’s not guaranteed the control he desires. He’s going for the extra money available
The Saudi involvement has probably hampered his ability to really get stuck into his mail role as much as he would have liked. I work for a multinational company and when we acquire companies, we always manage them in a very decentralised way. I've worked for companies in the past who've done the opposite, and it just didn't work. I hope they let him go, the 12month gardening leave won't work for both parties.
It's a familiar story for many people who have worked with Middle Eastern ownership. It takes time to get things done. Decisions disappear into the private ether of the owners, and are then handed down on tablets of stone. Managerial staff are servants, not bosses. They get compensated royally, but the lack of agency can be draining.
Very interesting video. Perhaps Newcastle need a rethink about how the club is run if it's losing us good upper level staff. Seems like a case of too many cooks? In terms of injuries, surely Wilson has kicked his last ball for us. Id also expect a few more to go.
What does it say about this guys loyalties. He hasn’t stayed in a job for very long so far then he jumps ship. Oh that’s shiny over there, I’m off. Where’s his integrity? This has just highlighted a weak character if his head is going to be constantly turned. Get him out of our club. There needs to be stipulations in place, any projects he’s been involved in, any possible player signings etc, he should be made to sign that he can’t try to take these to Man Utd.
I don't think there's any discussion about Ashworth's qualities. His track record speaks volume. I don't think this is the problem here or the discussion. The discussion here should be how football seems to handle or even understand the concept "contract". A contract is a safety going both ways and usually a financial benefit to the part signing on to it. But that financial benefit comes with a caveat. It has a length. So why aren't football taking this part of the contract discussion more seriously? I don't think you should keep players nor personal against their will, but then again you have to respect the paper you sign because of what I just mentioned. So in this case with a personal in power, you don't just release him to sign for the competition because that would have far more damaging consequences than money... I would argue that you remind your personal of that when they sign-on in the first place and if it should happen that person will leave before the end of the signed contract then of course that said person cannot leave so it impacts the club he's contracted to negatively. To put this in layman terms, Ashworth cannot be in a position where he will impact Newcastle's transfer window this summer negatively. This is the basic point of a contact. Is this a think that's not as clear as water in the UK?
Craig. Can we list which signings DA has been involved in since being our chief talent spotter? I suspect his impact is not as great as people perceive...he did a sterling job at Brighton, but as you point out, a lot of our impact signings came before he arrived..I suspect we'll survive without the "Dan Ashworth" touch...
I wouldn't pay a big FEE either let him do his Gardening Leave, He's not the most Important part of the cog... He doesn't do "Recruitment" & We'll just go recruit a Head Of Recruitment until he's finished his Gardening Leave. the Head Of Recruitment is also a bigger part of the cog in the structure. I am sure he can still speak on the phone Ashworth to the "Head Of Recruitment" That's what most ppl do in football on "Gardening Leave" Not like you can prove it.
Sky news put a list of players up that Dan had got in for the team, I was looking and was sure they where Eddie targets not Dan. I don't think there will be much impact if he leaves as he's had 2 years is that really long enough to make a diffrence?
Spot on Craig. Is Ashworth another football mercenary? He really has to be as why would you leave such an exciting project as the one at SJP especially to leave for a club with a majority ownership that are despised by the fans
@@listeyNot short term no, FFP has pulled the ladder up for the Sky 6 for the time being. But in the long run, I think Newcastle have a much brighter future than the Manchester Reds.
Armand, I respect your optimism. I'm just not sure where Newcastle get the revenues from to be able to spend big on transfers. Where the big clubs have an advantage is in their youth systems and that is going to take a long long time to build up anything close to what Man City, Chelsea etc have.
@@listey It's understandable from a commercial perspective. We're years behind in that regard, and as I mentioned, the Sky 6 have conveniently crafted a set of rules that are ostensibly anti-competitive; under the guise of "protecting clubs as cultural assets and the lower leagues". But what does give me hope, is the criminally underutilised, rich pool of talent in the north-east. With some encouragement and a bit of patience, there's no reason why our academy can't produce players of an ilk that we've seen in the past.
@@armandbergmannjohannessonlike who? Miley is the first half decent youth product in Donkeys years. Look at Man Utd’s academy compared to Newcastles, their u18s have won every game and have players like Lacey, Amass, Fletcher etc all looking unbelievable
Full respect to Newcastle and its following…but to say that they’re worried about DA leaving with transfer knowledge to “a rival” is the biggest of stretches. Don’t think Utd looks at Newcastle and says “I wonder who they’re signing”. Two diff worlds
It isn’t a stretch at all. They’re in direct competition with Man United for a European place. The notion of them being rivals is in terms of today and tomorrow, not yesterday. Clearly the two clubs can now be considered rivals as is evidenced by the performance of both since the NUFC takeover.
Not bothered about Dan Ashworth going he was no doubt ahead of his time but surely others have caught up? I'd give it to Sir Les. As for Callum Wilson he has to be away in the summer as we need fit strikers not bit part players.
So ashworth oversaw the recruitment team and eddie that signed tonali and hall whichever eay you spin it the guy had one job make sure those kind of mistakes dont happen and they did on his watch, take man utds money and let him go, hes a man with a profile and status well above his actual station. Since he left the FA, Brighton neither have fallen apart. Quite the oposite. Ashworth is a business man that teaches football folk basic business practices and charges a fortune for the privelege.
NUFC didn’t exactly bend over backwards to keep Ashworth. Maybe the lack of due diligence with the Tonali fiasco and signing Lewis Hall as an unused substitute has a lot to do with it.
@MD_ENTERTAINMENT obviously not, but when he left Brighton he hadn't sat not 2 years earlier and proclaimed to be very excited about a project and its future, only to then run off as soon as someone else waves an alternative offer under his nose. But I get your point to be fair. Says plot about the man's character
@phil5357 people sometimes happy to move to what they see as bigger opportunities, this is why he went from West Brom to Brighton. The same things happen with players
@MD_ENTERTAINMENT fair comment mate. I've calmed down somewhat from yesterday 🙂 if he goes, he goes. Ultimately, we don't need or want anyone at the club who isn't 100% with us.

Hi Craig, great video. Thanks. Do you think NUFC might prevent Dan from attending this meeting/ get-together? It could be an opportunity for this team, minus Dan, to decide on a path forward in the interim period.? Keep the videos coming. Ken
This paints the club in quite a poor light, with different executive branches not being able to function in unison. We clearly didn’t do our due diligence in regard to Ashworth who is obviously a man driven by personal ambition and who we should have known would jump ship if an opportunity arose. There can’t have been a very effective discussion in regard to the club and his role if the job isn’t what he believed it would be. This season is our first major test under the new ownership so it’s not always going to run smoothly but getting rid of mercenaries like Ashworth will be a good step in the end. I would like to say he will regret it but with the utterly corrupt systems in place I’m not sure we will ever achieve the success of clubs like Man U.
Was perhaps always going to be this way with DA - he'll get the role he wants with ManU ...if a deal can be done. The news on CW is disappointing, will be ever play for us again I wonder
Coming back to this video Craig, I believe we should hold out for £20m for Ashworth. Worst case is Man United don’t pay it, and we have to pay his salary for 2 years. That way Man United don’t get their man, and he can’t disclose our secrets and help them get top players. It’s a lose-lose if we let him go for cheap this summer.
Let Dan go, but make it painful for Manure. Make Dan see out the 1 yr gardening leave at all costs - don't care about the $10m compensation, we don't need that. Dan has our entire transfer blueprint, he must be prevented from leaking that to Manure for the next year at least.
$10m isn't going to do much for us in today's market. It'd be far more valuable to ensure you guys don't have have a DOF for another 12 months than to take $10m.
It’s very interesting how this is developing. Maybe DA sees a window of opportunity with Klopp going and possibly Pep in a year or two. But MUFC is a broken club, fixable, but a big leap from West Brom > Brighton > NUFC. None of these clubs have won anything whilst he has been there.
@@Cumbriamag lol. We all hate the Glazers, I personally still have faith in ETH. We've had an average of 10 players out for each match this season, lol. Sometimes as high as 12.
I’d worry of the ripple affect of Ashworth leaving. Who will he take with him? What info will he take (NDA’s are about as worthless as a footballers contract these days) what of Eddie Howe? I think I’d let Ashworth go without a fight if they sellotape Wilson to him as a double deal. Enough is enough, he needs to find a new club. Great kid when he’s fit but that’s rare.
Why is everyone acting like they wouldn’t do the same? Whether you like them or not, it’s the chance to join one of the biggest clubs in the world. Might never get the chance again
@@sirwinstonchurchill2052 it's stupid talking about decency and honour. Ashworth has already jumped ship so many times that it was idiotic and arrogant to assume that he wouldn't do the same to Newcastle.

Let's not down play this, this is terrible for NUFC. Can we replace him, of course, but we've had our pants pulled down here, it's incredibly humbling.
Unless we play hard ball with Man U and Ashworth - huge fees, NDAs, garden leave conditions and get the lawyers in at the merest hint of breaches. We need to punch back hard here.
We can get and save money by passing Dan on too………….may help FFP in other ways? What’s interesting is that he was credited with Brighton recruitment yet they never missed a beat when he left……..just like our best signings came before him arriving
I'm not fond of a manager finding players, it leads to the mess ten hag created. It's a massive blow for us and it's hard to find that caliber of director. He will know poach our summer business and this is not good for us given I expect a pivot to loweringbcost and trimming personel.
Time for Wilson to go and you cannot stand in Ashworth’s way, he has done his job. Looking forward to WhatsApp news Craig and thanks for breaking Wilson news, another scoop.
As normal perfect content and analysation Craig , if Dan wants to go let him , there is plenty fish in the sea the club can replace him. No one is indispensable Period! , As for Cal Wilson, his Denouement at Newcastle will be at the end of May , he has been a good servant to the club but the clubs and fans patience have been exhausted As for a missing forward why not give the Alfie Harrison a run ,Southampton done it with Alan Shearer and W Rooney at Everton, I dont think Eddie Howe would do it? Would he ? he is a good poker player when he deals with press at Pre Match Interviews you know that Craig , as they say nothing ventured nothing gained !
Come on craig , " keys to the kingdom" i dont think if thats the case dan ashworth really hasnt looked at the whole picture , or has ffp changed so much since he came in ??
Did Ashworth recommend hall and tonali? Barnes was a no brainer. Livramento - stunning buy. Minteh 1 Kuol -1 So am not sure what value Ashworth has brought to the table.
Kuol is just a kid so can't be judged yet. If he gets anywhere close to the first team and brings in a generation of Aussies supporting Newcastle then that potentially has huge value.
@@deched I have no doubt, but logically there would be even more if Kuol breaks through, especially given the general lack of talent in Australian football at the moment. I can't think of any playing in any big leagues at the moment.

Manchester United are not even the biggest club in Manchester, biggest in the world? not a chance and if Ashworth thinks MUFC are a better project than Newcastle then let him go, he's not as bright as I thought
The reason you give is that his family live closer to Manchester. Maybe it's because he wants to work with Ratcliffe and Brailsford as opposed to the Saudi ownership?
Sooner he's gone the better. Get him on a long gardening leave period and hire someone that can bring in some decent players. Great players are only for the traditional big six with the FFP situation.
I normally like your videos but this just seems like nonsense. All youve done is essentially say he has no responsibility at Newcastle and will have all the responsibility at Man U. How do the owners impact or effect Dans job at all? They don't. They all have completely different roles, you think Dans ringing Amanda asking if he can send a scout to Germany or something? Nah
Honestly, I can see us having one Conference League campaign in the next three years. Billing and Solanke will be useful. We might continue to go deep in the domestic cups, then lose when we play big six teams.
Biggest football club in the world? Do Madrid & Barca not exist…? Ashworth surely has misled the leadership at NUFC, questions must have been asked in Nov & Dec and I’m assuming assurances were given in private if NUFC have not been working on a replacement. If NUFC has to play compensation for a replacement they should not agree any deal until that is done. We paid circa £3m for him, if we have to pay this for his replacement then we can end up net losers here financially as well as losing the ‘asset’. That would be obscene. These clubs are not our friends, look at the £16m loan price for Lingard, we need to stop acting like they are & extract maximum value. Also need to have some covenant on not coming back for Eddie or others (including players) or signing our top targets. Letting him join them pre summer without any of this in place would be very naive.
There are other big opportunities for Newcastle. Dan ashworth going is definitely not the end of the world 😂😂. Bet your bottom dollar we will get someone big in

Always, measured and insightful comment. Refreshing.
😂😂😂😂😂

Did any of the Premier League teams spend a penny in January?
Lincolnshire was peppered with air bases as the area is very flat and its proximity to Germany same as Norfolk. 617 squadron was the RAF precision bombing squadron and is still operating today. Their motto is "Après moi le déluge" "after me the flood" following the famous dambusters raid.

It is a blow that Dan is going but onwards and upwards for Nufc we will survive and move on hopefully we can get someone who can do a similar job
Really?! Just wait until Dan Ashworth has to deal with the Glazers. See how he likes those apples.
I wonder if there's anything in terms of IP? Odd Question - would Newcastle have ‘rights’ / first dibs to previously scouted players?
Howe 'can handle recruitment.' Like callum Wilson and Alexander isak?
That would still mean we have to pay his wages in full for gardening leave and he's still able to talk to Man Utd.
Is it really that exciting when he has no money to spend and the squad is subpar? I don't see Newcastle improving any time soon.

Zero respect for the man if / when he jumps ship.
Atleast we don't be signing any more left backs the manager doesn't want..
But it was ok for him to jump ship from Brighton?
@MD_ENTERTAINMENT obviously not, but when he left Brighton he hadn't sat not 2 years earlier and proclaimed to be very excited about a project and its future, only to then run off as soon as someone else waves an alternative offer under his nose. But I get your point to be fair. Says plot about the man's character
@phil5357 people sometimes happy to move to what they see as bigger opportunities, this is why he went from West Brom to Brighton. The same things happen with players

Why do people think man utd wants ashworth for recruitment?
We need him to structure the club and set the culture. Simple!
I just think it’s mad people like Dan Ashworth is going from Newcastle to Mufc for around £10mil. Just blows my mind.
Actually you do need the £10 mil. You’re gonna end up selling your best players because while your owners are rich, your club is broke 😂

$10m isn't going to do much for us in today's market. It'd be far more valuable to ensure you guys don't have have a DOF for another 12 months than to take $10m.

If Billing and Solanke are the answer then I don't think anyone understood the question.
If Howe sees Billing and Solanke as players for our next phase, he needs to go with Ashworth
