Well said, Josh. I am 57 and my first game attended was in 1974. I grew up with Bear, and then watched nearly 3 decades of everything from losing seasons to the greatest dynasty in the history of the sport. I feel fortunate. I knew this day would come, but i'm prepared to move forward. Crimson & white till I die. RTR.

I grew up on the Bear in the early sixties, was taken to games at Legion Field. That built an Empire of CFB regarding Bama. Longtime fans are diehards. We hit lean years, saw the nineties teams (remember Teague?!!!) and saw things tank. Then we get Saban and that Empire became a Dynasty. I knew Saban would retire, and I also knew that there was no way Saban and Byrne would get anything but the best. This deal was in the works, it was cemented very quickly. DeBoer is a fantastic hire, a master chess move. Bank on it. RTR 🐘🏈
I’m behind our new HC. Thank you Coach Saban and Greg Byrne for looking after our best interests, our Dynasty. We believe.

Bama fans were so fortunate to have Saban to have won all those titles - it was amazing!
As an Oregon fan, I’m still hoping for them winning just one natty. It’ll happen, just don’t know when. But hey, I’m optimistic.
Bama has a great hire in Deboer. His Huskies team beat the Ducks three times in two years and that sucks. He’s a good coach. Bama will be fine.

I remember being so happy we finally beat them since I was 6 in 2001 and first ever in Tuscaloosa so if DeBoer wins in 2024 be the 2nd Alabama Head Coach to win in Tuscaloosa against Auburn. Tried to block out Pre Saban due to trauma lol. I remember the big 3 of 6 losses Saban’s Inaugural Season FSU (my dad is a FSU fan and was doing the Chop wouldn’t play them again to get revenge till 2017 10 years later), Louisiana Rajun Cajuns had a relatives wedding in Phenix City who’s family friend huge Alabama fan and said if we lost he wouldn’t go to the reception and he didn’t go to the reception, and Auburn went to the 1st half but even with layers was so cold and went back to tailgate at halftime. I'm 36 and attended Bama when Saban ended the 6 game losing streak to Auburn. I saw all the Mike failures, The Albert Means/fat Phil fiasco. I Have seen the highs and lows of the program. I knew the day Saban retired it would be tough, but with the right hire Bama would be okay. I didn't say they would remain at the Nick Saban dynasty level because that's next to impossible. All the Bama fans that think Bama should be in the playoffs every single season are unrealistic trust fund fans as you said. I will say that Kirby is absolutely capable of having the success that Saban has had. He's already won 2 and now he doesn't have Saban to contend with and he knows it. He won 2 and played for another while signing top 2 recruiting classes every year during the Saban era.

Yea I’l am sure the same folks leaving out creampies and cokes at the saban statue like it’s a memorial service are gonna have the wisdom and strength to not apply the same standards and expectations onto the new guy and reaction very normally to 8 wins, consecutive no playoffs making seasons.
    Definitely.

By all indications Deboer seems to be a winning coach so as a Bama fan I was optimistic when his hiring was announced Friday. However the transition is turning out to be an *UNMITIGATED DISASTER!* Every day since Saturday the news has gotten worse and worse as far as mass exodus of key staff, players and recruits. It started with the bizarre news Saturday morning that DB coach and top recruiter Tavarious Robinson, who had widely been expected to be named DC by Nick Saban, was leaving for a DB / "co-DC" job at UGA without even having been interviewed by Deboer. Apparently Deboer alienated Robinson right off the bat when the met on Friday and later was unable to lure T-Rob back despite an offer to be Bama DC for substantially more money than he will get as "co-DC" at UGA. Furthermore, Deboer was apparently unable/unwilling to attract any legitimate experienced marquee replacement DC, which has subsequently led to a mass exodus of defensive players -- especially DBs including Dezz Ricks, Trey Amos, and *GENERATIONAL TALENT* Caleb Downs, who will almost certainly follow T-Rob to UGA. Meanwhile several previously committed 2025 recruits (e.g. 5-star Edge Javion Hilson) have now de-committed after being frustrated by lack of communication from Deboer and his staff. I don't care how good of an Xs-and-Os coach Deboer may be, their is no excuse for his ham-handed mismanagement of people / relationships and the catastrophic damage it has caused in only five days!

Josh is my favorite person to listen too. People need to realize 2 things. Saban is 1 of 1. And 2, DeBoer isn’t Saban. He is his own man. He’s a great coach and person. LFG, Roll Tide and we need to get behind our new coach! If you don’t know shit about our new coach either stfu and enjoy the ride or go to a new team

Excellent podcast my friend. Everything you said was absolutely spot on. I have been on multiple platforms saying exactly the same thing. Great hire, yet he isn't and will never be Saban. Reality check is just around the corner. Not a bad thing, just more normal seasons versus the super natural they have been more accustomed to. Alabama 2024 record: 9-3 or even the unthinkable 8-4. Welcome to the real 😂😂

DeBoer won with a team of players that played college football since 2016-2017. His players had mortgages. He inherited a lot of the Washington Roster. Rome and McMillan were already there. We’ve yet to see him recruit well out of high school and it’ll be that much harder recruiting for Bama when they don’t think they need to participate in NIL. He’s already losing players.

Josh, 3-4 SEC teams are top 10 in recruiting each year, the question is what will he do with that talent. Looks like he can’t keep the players there now, several 4-5 stars have left and transferred. Oh but reality sucks doesn’t it. 😢

Well, Alabama has only two decades since 1925 that they haven't won a National Championship. 1950's and 1980's. Every other decade besides those two, they have NC hardware. So history says it won't be too awful bad.

I disagree. Looking at our schedule we will be favored in every game except maybe Georgia. So win the games you are supposed to win. Even with the transfers leaving we are more talented player per player than every team we play except maybe 1. I think he is going to be a good coach but lowering our standards shouldn’t be an option. Had 12 before saban
