I have to disagree with my Auburn brethren here. I've not seen a single Bama fan or media analyst call this a "bad hire." I don't know where they're seeing that, quite frankly. I'm *very concerned* about DeBoer at Alabama with his offensive accumen and track record
@@simontemplar0468problem with that is he won’t have to jump if he has sustained success like Saban. The only two glaring issues I would have for DeBoer is defense and recruiting/portal.
The answer is where they’re seeing that is brainless mouth running. Trolling. That’s where that’s coming from. Same with tn fan base they’re doing it too.
Huge win for Bama. This will produce multiple national titles. DeBoer at Bama is just scary.

@@raytrammell9452 Washington is about hire their coach in about the same exact time fraim. Obviously they didn't know their coach was leaving. In this day and age you have to be quick with your hire. Byrne would've already had a plan in place for sure cause he's a good AD and knew this day was inevitable. But there was still a coaching search. Deboer wasn't picked months ago with the knowledge that Saban was leaving. That's not how it happened.

Nobody talks about what Coach Saban taught the Bama fans. He read us the riot act in qjuite a few press conferences. Also, we know we were extremely lucky to have him as long as we did. I truly believe the fan base will support Coach DeBoar just fine. In my home we never discussed the 'R' word. Retirement.But in our hearts we knew the day would come.
Good hire. The guy has beaten all of the recently hot coaches: Lanning, Sark, Riley. And Saban liked what Washington was doing so much that he tried to hire away Washington's OC last year.

NOBODY knew when Nick Saban was originally hired at Bama that he would produce the results he did with 6 national championship wins. The same applies to Kalen DeBoer. Nobody knows what the future holds, but, if his resume tells any tales, he could very well get similar results. I'm an optimistic Bama fan and wish Coach DeBoer all the luck and success and longevity at Alabama. ROLL TIDE!
I think if Alabama fans will give this guy a chance he will be a hell of a coach he is a winner.
It’s way easier to go undefeated in the PAC 12 than it is the SEC…his success won’t 100% equate to what he does at Bama. He won’t be able to beat Georgia for the SEC championship.

DeBoer's record after his first 10 games at program is 80-3. So he has started quick at all his other HC jobs. He has the talent here unless we have a mass exodus in the tranfer portal. I think we can be competitive immediately.

I honestly think he's the best guy for the job. The only one that might be as good or better would've been Mike Norvell. DeBoer has impressed me the last couple years and he's been a winner everywhere he's gone. He's impressed me as a guy that doesn't let hype or crazy circumstances get to him. I sometimes think he has ice water in his veins.
Recruiting might be an issue as he didn't do very good that way at Washington but that's way out in the PNW and it's a lot harder to get prime time recruits there. Even so he won with what he had and he has a remarkable way of coaching up his roster which is rare in modern college football as we've seen coaches with TONS of talent who fall flat on their faces because they don't want to change or who are stubborn old farts (looking at you Jimbo)
The other "negative" might be is DeBoer a "cultural fit" in the south? Time will tell but remember Nick Saban may have coached in the south quite a bit before he went to Bama (LSU and then Miami in the NFL) he was still essentially a son of the north who took the football culture of the south and used that to build the modern way of operating a program. Thankfully for DeBoer the infrastructure is there and Alabama is a school that basically sells itself. He just has to be aggressive on the recruiting trail and possibly in the portal transfer as well. DeBoer is a guy who is seemingly loved by his players so he's going to win em over pretty easily IMO.
I look forward to seeing what he does at Alabama. I only hope 'bama fans give the guy a chance as they might not have the patience if the transition is 100% smooth.

I'm gonna copy your nickname here and @ you at the end of the regular season in a comment pertinent to Bama. I don't think he'll lose 6 games as that's too much of a drop off but maybe 3-4 might be a reasonable drop.

Replacing a legend is a huge responsibility though and the immediate successor is the one that usually has a really short tenure.

Don't know where this high talk about Sark is coming from. Kirby, yes, but Alabama fans weren't at all sold on Sark. I mean, Deboer just whopped up on him in the playoffs with way less talent. He would've been like fourth on the list.

It’s a good hire, but the criticism on Kaleb DeBoer is valid. Basically there’s only a few schools to recruit on the West Coast and even during undefeated season he could only get the number 40 recruiting class. He is not a good recruiter and that is a big problem if you’re gonna be successful. He didn’t recruit well at Washington, Washington, and Oregon and USC are the only big names on the West Coast. He didn’t have to go recruit in the south with people who are really good recruiters. Make no mistake that is a problem and he’s gonna have to massively improve because he can be the best coach ever but he’s not gonna consistently win all the time without consistently getting out top 25 top 15 recruiting classes. People forget most of the talent that he played on the team this year. If not all of it was there when he got here and transferred in. Be interesting to see in a couple of years when he is reliant on who he recruits how he does.

@@AlphaDwg Deboer did a good job keeping the UW players when he came in as the new coach, and brought in Penix and Dillon Johnson via the portal. I'd like to see Deboer bring in his offensive coordinator from UW, and whoever the O line coach was (and other O staff), because they were excellent at developing players.

Looks like he got KO in the heavyweight title fight in the big stage, This SEC conference ain't the dead conference called the Pac-12..... Alabama becomes average in a 4th or 5th place team in the conference at best. The only thing that saved Saban for so long in a 50% champion in his 6 titles but 6 losses in reach of the title was his recruiting to the NFL gateway he built and his main 2 coordinators that proved to be his results he relied on way 2much in a complete coach!!

14th in rushing attempts in the nation in a conference that was high on QB talent is definitely "runs the football". I also think Washington played good enough defense throughout the year especially when the chips were on the line. True, they got gashed all to hell against Michigan in the championship game but to a lot of the experts that was kind of expected.
I expect DeBoer to adjust to the talent and style of play in the SEC.

If Penix doesn’t transfer to Washington then Kalen doesn’t win 10 games. He has not track record and is not proven at all in the SEC. I give him a year and a half. Bama loses 4 games next year at a minimum

He does not deserve the term GOAT unless you welcome cheating and unfair advantages allowing you to win multiple close games and close recruiting races. I hope he stays on payroll and they fully investigate the program over the past 10 years.
