I am a bit confused with the really high yield ETF's the ones with 40% distributions. What is the end game in owning these if they continue to fall in price & do repeated reverse splits? An investor must continue doing drip to sustain any value. I understand income is the motivation but if the underlying investment drops as a result of getting your money redistributed back to you then isn't that a shell game? I guess I am trying to understand if there is some esoteric strategy to build the investment into something more. Just as an analogy nobody would buy a rental property if they knew the value would drop exponentially due to the market the property was in. Just my thoughts. Maybe I am not understanding or missing something.
I’ve never heard anyone make a coherent argument in favor of QQQY as an investment strategy. It underperforms QQQI, it underperforms YMAX, it’s barely treading water since inception. I dont get it
@@TonyCox1351No u get it..Stay far away frome these..They co tinue to drop in capital and the distributions do not make up for that..Look at most of these from inception..They continue to fall.. Dont get caught up on the distribution..Your still underperforming
Thanks Adrian for the overview of high yield funds on the US side! Still own QQQY and JEPY. Reverse split changes nothing and not worry about it. Doing the drip on both.
Adrian, Thanks to you I've changed my investing strategy since January 2024. I am very happy so far and I'll be booking a one by one portfolio analysis soon. Thank you again for sharing all your knowledge and experience on the High Yield income ETFs.
Consider making your own FoF Adrian… there are so Many of these now that its now getting more and more difficult and time consuming to track or monitor…. We all have a same goal here
I've been doing math ... If you compare owing something like VTI vs a covered call etf I suppose you get a bit of a "kick" in cash but you can generate case by selling the shares of VTI. I guess you can argue that you would eventually sell all your shares to generate your cash ... not sure about this strategy yet
I did luck out on the dividend, as I just had bought a chunk of Maxi, after moving my RRSP from my broker to self-managing. I invested everything as things started nose diving. I thought I might as well get all the month end dividends… A week later, I was down 7%. At present down 3%. But hey, we are not looking at those gyrations.

discussed this to death. have several videos on it i suggest you watch. look at the returns, it will solve and answer all your questions
You will like TDVI etf then have a distribution about 7-8% but have great price appreciation

Would like to know your thoughts Adrian in ISPY only paying out 26 cents with all the volatility lately shouldn't they have paid 44 or 50 cent?
well keep in mind that payout probably reflected July and not the august volatility. also, they seem to write their options very OTM
Nice presentation 💯💯💯
YMAG( Like QQQ) & YMAX (Like SPY) is the best
Do you ever use the dividend calculator in Passiv? Thx!
no i did not try it. i like to calculate that myself
@@PassiveIncomeInvesting I don’t think it’s very accurate at all

Wondering why Maxi went so far down.
Look at the latest dividend
@@PassiveIncomeInvesting Yes. Thank you. I guess that I don’t have much of a grasp of how the fund works. 🧐
