Sometimes you even give the money you don’t have in your bank account

Please AVOID TOXIC GENEROSITY……Stop giving money to your people in Nigeria….These people don’t appreciate what you are giving them…..Stop enabling these lazy bums….The word “NO” is a full sentence and does not need explanations…..You seem quite naive….You are not responsible for your fellow Nigerians happiness! Yes, only a handful of them are genuinely grateful…Good luck! Be blessed and it is well with you and your family.

The black tax is terrible. They exaggerate economic situations in Nigeria to collect more money from Nigerians in the diaspora. Someone in Nigeria was collecting money from my friend in Mexico. When my friend returned home in the summer of 2024, his friend who had been collecting money from him under false economic hardship had already completed building his new house and invited my friend to his beautifully built house. Apply wisdom while giving money to Nigerians in Nigeria else some of them will drain you financially.

@@OChem928 “Black tax” Is that pejorative term for???….Please stop glorifying “extortion by the shameless Nigerians”. Don’t allow yourself to be “emotionally abused” by extortionists using guilt to shame you. You are not obligated to be financially responsible to no one….STOP IT ALREADY!

Many of them, don’t even know that many of us here have unpaid credit cards mortgages to pay and more still yet we try to send the little we can.. Last year December, I couldn’t even send money to my mom because of some financial struggles. Imagine being a person with disability unemployed and my wife is not any more than $2000 a month and we have two toddlers and yet some people you send money to will still be ungrateful even if it’s 10,000 naira it’s something.

@@thewaziris Make your family your PRIORITIES and make the family beggars OPTIONS…You are not responsible for their happiness and stop being guilty for putting you and your family first! Take it from me…I’ve been out of Nigeria for over fifty years…Nothing has changed. Don’t allow family members to know your next move…Why? Because poverty in Nigeria has changed the morphology of the brains and they are all numb to inflicting pain on others…It’s all about them! Trust me, DO NOT SACRIFICE your future for these ungrateful non entities….And remember, the price of success is eternal vigilance…..Read it again!

Also if people in diaspora show off to their friends and family there will be high expectations. So keep a low profile and complain about your bills too so they will call you names but will leave you a lone. Give them the impression you are living from hand to mouth.

Thanks so much for your analysis. How I wished I had learnt this lesson 7 years ago; but I thought I had the gift of crisis giving. Not until I couldn't send money to one of those I assisted in the university that I knew that most people love you because of what they're getting from you.
    Keep it up ma

I recently had one oyibo with his two friends beg me for "some change" for train, and I eyed them and hissed so loudly. They knew they messed up for asking me. I was like me and people like me come from far ànd still try to make something of myself but they that have been here, healthy cannot? Ridiculous!😮

There's a reason I don't have close friends nearby. My dearest friend is in the USA we don't ask each other for money. I like to be sociable but the financial burden has taught me to stay home. I always appeal to people to look after themselves first. I learnt from my big sister, she's a nurse Specialist working 3-4 jobs she's been in the USA since 1998, she barely spends her money on herself, everything is omo mi, oko mi, egbon mi, aunty mi, uncle mi. I fight her most times to buy something for herself or go on vacation. People will call her and give her stories. One person even said she was just kidnapped she should send money. If anyone like, they can call me stingy, na thier wahala be that

Generally speaking, UK compared to Yankee peeps are more restrictive cash wise but they still shell out.
The key is to curtail the sense of entitlement of people back home asking for favors.
Many speak about black tax in negative light, yet many other immigrant nationalities face similar demands from their own people too.
Its key to pay yourself 1st, then your Creator and then hpw you can help others out.
    Cheers.

E ku ise Ma. Thank you for your channel. Nigerians are the most magnanimous & selfless people on this planet. Please do not blame japarees who count their pennies. Na condition wey make crayfish back bend. When they remember how they prayed, fasted, did TDB - night vigils, prayer mountains, ... The insults at the embassy/High Commission, the rigours of travelling across the country, the shopping list from family & friends: "What do you mean, you can't send common one thousand pounds?! But you have been there for four months!"
When they remember Council Tax, Rent, Water rate, gas & electricity, transport, insurance, MOT, income tax, etc, etc,
Why wouldn't they be parsimonious with cash? Besides, if they fall by the wayside, lose their job - people may despise them.

I see my mum so this and it is enough. I only gift present to the young children in my family if I can. I have helped one cousin out because he really needed it, he didn’t even ask. However, I won’t be sponsoring anyone’s life in Nigeria. I don’t mind treating, but sending money every month… no! Let them call you stingy. You need to look after your own

In my area in Abule-egba its 500 for a bag. In Yaba its more and on the Island is higher. So nobody is lying. The price varies from Mainland, suburbs and On the Island.

They are lying. It's 400 on the Island where I stay. Nigerians lie a lot about the prices of commodities especially on social media. They inflate the prices with their silly talks even before the prices actually go up.
About a year and half ago, many on social media where saying the price of pure water has gone up to 600 while it was just 300 even on the Island 😢
