    This summer I’m going to do a discovery flight. I’m pretty sure being a pilot is what I want to do but definitely want to get up in the air before knowing.

      I knew after my discovery flight that that’s what I wanted to do!
      I recommend doing atleast 2 discovery flights before signing up to a school.

    lol at the cat trying to turn the page of the notebook on the couch. Good for you stepping out and taking the risk to change careers. I want to get my PPL with IFR as a hobby...2+ years trying to get a special issuance medical. Have to wait until that gets all cleared up before I can think about starting any kind of training.

    Another thing you’ll do with slow flight is practice stalls and recovery, so brace yourself for that.
    Part of my job as an airline mechanic is to move planes to and from the terminal, and it was much more nerve wracking getting on the radio than actually driving at first. That’s one of the things I’m most nervous about moving into pilot training- being able to keep up and reading back accurately when ATC is firing off a list of directions at high speed!

      Yeah haha literally just got off a flight practicing exactly that.
      Yeah, the calls are def one of the most stressful things haha

    the only thing about newer planes is that they are often cheaper to run and own for the flight school which means that the schools with the older planes aren't necessarily any worse. Often some of the huge flight schools with 20 plus new planes could be in debt and don't have the money to definitely know that you'll be alright if they went down hill and you'd given them $100,000 to get it back after. Just a good tip. :)

    • @irubenguler
      @irubenguler  10 місяців тому

      Yeah, you’re right. They’re not necessarily worse if they’re older, and a 6 pack plane is not a reason to not go to that flight school. But it is nice when they have both, and when they have newer planes… it will make the training easier… in my opinion.

      @@irubenguler nice. I fly an old pa 28 with my grandad that has a 6 pack. I'm 16 and have gone solo twice now. The only advantage is that the flying at my club with old planes is only 160 an hour and that's in the uk

    Bro what advice would you give to an international student who wants to do flight training abroad…and how do can I manage to fund it as well.

    • @irubenguler
      @irubenguler  10 місяців тому +3

      I’m not sure I have much advice for an international student because I’m not educated of the differences.
      As far as how to manage the funds. I always tell ppl, the sooner you finish the sooner you start making real money. So take the loans! Take the risk! Bc it will eventually pay off. No one has ever became successful without risk.

    Hey bro, I came across your channel because I'm serious about changing careers as being a 29 year old. I'm currently in retail finance but hate it. I wanted to ask, how is the math equations. I was horrible in math in college and in school in general. But, what can you tell me how difficult the math equations are?

    • @irubenguler
      @irubenguler  10 місяців тому +2

      Hey!
      Uhm to be honest I was terrible at math aswell in high school haha and in college. But so far it doesn’t seem over whelming.

      I'm doing the same thing. 30 years old in IT tech sales and I just cant do it forever. I've found the math to be not as bad as i expected. The key is visualizing it. Most of the time it means nothing to me until i see a video or situation in the plane itself.
      Like critical angle of attack means nothing until I see preformed a slow stall.

    How many times do you fly in a week? I have 10 hours right now, but I stopped first to focus on ground and knock out the written. Thanks for uploading relatable content :)

    • @irubenguler
      @irubenguler  10 місяців тому

      Fly about 6hrs a week.
      All depends on school and what they think is best.
      Yeah that’s great! I’m about to start taking my written!!
