- California Highway 4 is pretty amazing. As it crosses the Sierra Nevada, it's reduced to one lane -- with no center stripe -- and traffic from both directions must share the road. It also passes by some amazing scenery as it skirts the tops of the mountains. This video shows the drive from California 89 (the east end of 4) to Big Trees State Park.

I made this trip in June 2018. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).

I went over to the east side snowline and back on my sled one night by myself during a storm, it was wild. my headlamp kepts shorting out and it was snowing hard, like stranded the donners snowfall. what a cool place.
Video speed is too much, very high speed. It's very hard to watch.

Yeah I live 20 or so miles in Nevada from Markleville. Ebbets is my favorite pass & the only double summit pass in the Sierra.Whats funny is the trickest corner is on the west slope at start of pass.Not the steep switch backs but unassuming double apex corner that will surprise the hell out of u.
I live in the small town of Arnold just 3 miles down from big trees where you ended the video. But I frequently take trips up the pass and love to climb all the mountains around and explore the forest. Sure is a beautiful place and I love seeing others admire it
