we were there May 6th, and again on the 7th. Here is our pro tip (I know it might sound boring) Get the vegan plantain rice and the vegan red beans and the salsa verde guac and a side of corn tortillas and build your own tacos. I promise promise you will not be disappointed. its better then any actual entree they can come up with. life. changing
I made Frontera enchiladas at home on Friday. I liked it but made it my own.. unfortunately I got hives. Idk if spices. So staying away from spicy food at the moment. I'm so glad this is the option. Rick Bayless is amazing in my eyes b/c he got me to try Mexican food. Grew up with nasty taco bell lol. He made Mexcian food look appetizing and beautiful. He studied the cuisine in Mexico. So up lost respect. Also Chitown represent! Another great video you 2. Thanks. Hoping I can eat spicy food and go here and enjoy!
Cinco de Mayo is mostly an American 'holiday.' Most Mexicans living in Mexico don't celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Cinco de Mayo does have its relevance in Mexican history, however. It's when Mexico defeated the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War in 1862. It's mostly only celebrated in Puebla, where the defeat happened. It became a 'thing' in America when Latino American activists used it to highlight and promote their culture. It's now become rather like St. Patrick's Day. People in Ireland don't understand why we celebrate that day, but some will honor the 'holiday' simply because it gives them a reason to drink and party. But dieciséis de septiembre (the 16th of September) is Mexico's true independence day, when they achieved independence from Spain. That's when they celebrate (kind of like we do on the 4th of July).
I tried to tell Bear. I'm super familiar with this being from California, which is why I was shaking my head "no". Thank you so much for reinforcing the facts! 👸
They got rid of the drink window? Bummer. Always love the margaritas and guacamole there. Have had mixed experiences with entrees. I know they periodically do special dinners where Rick Bayless comes to town … would love to do one of those.
So I was comparing my 2018 pics with yours. The guac looked the same, although it was served on a banana leaf, and the margs looked identical also. That said, on the same trip Hacienda de San Angel were better at both but I know didn't seem so impressed with the Hacienda on the last visit. I copied Rick Bayless making guac from a video and it came out really good. It didn't have all the extras so I didn't use all the extras. Bear: My new favorite line of all time was about the Habanero sauce - If battery acid was a salsa- it sticks with you like childhood trauma-I like it though!
Most of that hasn't changed. They usually change the entrees. The hummus was interesting, that's for sure. Wouldn't mind trying to make that guac at home. It's tasty.
Everything looks great!
Omg, the Mickey taco purse!! ❤

Similar low value to the Mexico Pavilion vegan entrées 🇲🇽 can't go wrong with chips, guac/hummus/salsa ever! ❤🥑
🐻not sticking with you like childhood trauma 🤣🤣🤣🤣Finally, something truly hot as advertised! I love that spice. Also, those margs looked good :)

Yeah, it's unfortunate. Hopefully there's more room for tables though. The outdoor area of the restaurant is really nice.
