The Anime That Defined A Generation

- In This Video, I will give my honest review of my favorite Anime of all time. My content is satire in nature and while it may sound like I disliked the anime it's mostly bad jokes. I will be talking about what makes it one of the most popular anime of the season ... by insulting everything about it. Season 1 of this anime was released on Apr 8, 2007. This anime will probably not be renewed for another season. There is a manga that you can read that I highly recommend. This video contains light spoilers so be aware if you plan on watching the anime or reading the manga. This anime is currently available in the English dub.

Happy April Fools Day! (The Text Messed Up I Tried To Fix It The Last 2 Hours So It's Just Staying In)
what a silly and lucky day
But this is not a joke right? The anime defined a generation
April 2nd
Why so many capital letters
@@david_ga8490 it did
Rules of anime:
If they look 11, they're 18
If they look 16, they're 30 with a family
If they look 35, they're in highschool
If they look 4, the FBI is at your door
you forget if they look like 6 if female usually, they're 500
Anime logic age never made that sense to begin with lol.
Meanwhile Tokyo Revengers got grown ass looking men in middle school and missing parents.
The third one's literally punch ghost punk
@@hido... Middleschoolers with motorbikes, military like organisation as violent as Colombian Cartels.
Life was so good, so simple and where being an anime fan was something to be ashamed of
Actually real. Hate to admit that I'm one now but yes here I am
Oof right in the feels
This is why we need gatekeeping. Normies ruin everything.
@@REO_Speedweed i do think its sad that most western anime fans arent hardcore otaku like they were im the 2Ks, but i think gatekeeping is a corny mentality , and we should push and encourage these normies to devote their souls to animanga and become that guy with multi-hundreds of anime completed
@@REO_Speedweed what does that mean ?
I don't care if this is a April Fool's joke.
Aisde from K-ON, for me, this *_is the greatest anime ever made_* .
I’m with you, K-On is really good but Lucky Star is special. Have you ever watched Angels 3 Piece? Loli music comedy.
I've heard a lot about this anime, but haven't watched it yet. But I am shocked that this is your best anime, Lunar. I didn't expect this thing at all, but now I'm sure you're the type of person who likes lolli girls anime. No matter how strange your taste is, my friend. I respect it and you will always be a amazing UA-camr in my opinion.
Lol idk how but you made me sound like the worst type of person 😂
... watch Hidamari Sketch.
Lucky Star was amazing
we need more people like you
@@yuriyu123 explain cuz now I want to watch that
I originally watched lucky star on UA-cam back in 2007. I initially watched it because I was completely obsessed with the opening theme lol. I was fourteen and just falling headfirst into both the internet and anime.( when I actually knew what anime was). I thought pokemon was just a really cool cartoon as a little kid, same with cardcaptors, yugioh, sailor noon, and digimon. I later got super invested in manga and now my collection for both is just a bit overwhelming. Now I have to rewatch my Lucky Star blu ray again. Great video. P.S. The linkin park amvs were watched religously by me as well. They were freaking everywhere.
As someone who loves the slice of life Moe genre Lucky Star is one of the goats. I did get a lot of jp references so I still prefer the jp dub, mostly because humor was very language heavy
Bro who is this girl in your profile pic?
Glad to see a fellow Indian here.

She kinda looks like Megumi Kato from Saekeno
Each generation has their nostalgia era and I would fight anyone to go back to mid-2000s to early-2010s times. Anime was at a transition time between the old anime stigma and mainstream media, it was just great to be a fan.
Damn I remember when I was new into anime and I stumbled across a funny moments compilation of lucky star. I got hooked immedietly and started watching it. It's kinda weird that this is my third anime.
Definitely one of my favorite anime, after i first watched it more than a decade ago i decided to watch most of the anime it made reference to and then rewatched it a decade later, loved it like it was the first time again. Can't wait to watch it again after a few more years when another decade finishes.
I watched it WAYY later than the original release but god I remember begging my friends to learn the opening dance with me, convinced none of em they all were into kpop at the time(me too lol)
smh convince them harder

One thing that many people don't stop to think is that the characters are actually subversion of the labels Konata apply to them, she only call them that because she is an Otaku. Kagami is actually a caring sister and her slightly harsh side towards Konata are not a silly attempt to hide her feelings but a direct response to Konata's teasing. When Konata is not messing with her they hold a normal friendship, play games together and share stuff they like. Miyuki sure is cutesy clumsy but also is knowledgeable and diligent, the person they rely on when they need someone more knowledgeable. Konata is neither childish acting like a toddler nor is the flat short angry girl jealous of the better endowed girls, she is a total geek who works part time besides going to school, is confident and proud of her own body and likes to mess with her friends. And finally Akira who is an actual kid who acts all cutesy but that is just a facade, she is actually an angry delinquent-like, foul mouthed and abusive. This show is actually a deconstruction of the moe genre where characters are labeled in show and yet don't really fit on the labels applied to them.
I somehow missed this entire era of anime, as it came at a major turning point for my life in 2008. (I got married that year) But years later, I was looking for a very specific kind of anime, I wanted something that was similar to Azumanga Daioh, one of my favorites, and Lucky Star kept coming up. So I decided to check it out and ended up loving it. I'd say that I even ended up liking Lucky Star more than Azumanga Daioh. It's a very interesting, silly, and unique kind of anime and I really enjoyed the main cast and their interactions. Konata is kind of shameless anime fan pandering but it still worked on me anyway.
I can't believe you bated me with code geass, well done
I genuinely still say "Bye bee" to my little sister who puts up with my million Otaku references while she fills me in on all the Kpop gossip.
I'm so lucky to have an unmuzzled nezuko.
go get help
@@Matthafford no no, he's kinda cool
It's "Bye-nii!"
@@OlTimeyChara i fucking hate how every anime fan nowdays has this fucking near pedophile shit around them. cant stand it
what?
Even though I was only a 2nd grader when Lucky Star released and I wasn't watching anime at the time but I did discover this anime during Lucky Stars 10 year anniversary. This where my weeb journey started with Lucky Star
Gotta say the Geass bit got me, especially as I was hoping for some shitposting that Lelouch now has clone kids in the Sunrise co-produced Gacha Game with his most popular ships (Nunally, Kallen, Suzaku, C.C.)
It's a time capsule of ages past. It contains the culture and subculture of that era. One of an anime that I hope will be localized and aired again and again from time to time...
every time the start of 7:16 hits I want to cry
Let's gooo, another lucky star enjoyer, best anime ever made change my mind
Aight time to bingewatch Haruhi and then Lucky Star right after
This is the way
I literally just finished Lucky Star like a few days ago.
Odd because I should've finished this show 8 years ago.
Glad people still make videos bout this anime, since most videos I find bout Lucky Star are 15 year old remixes or clips lol
I only started watching Lucky Star about 8 months ago but it instantly became my favorite anime, probably because it was the first anime I fully watched
Great vid man👍
Amazing! Good content! Felt like watching good old gigguk video
6:44
Lol; I'm glad I came across your channel. I can see it blowing up by the year's end.
Lunar thank u for this really wish I can go back in time just to watch lucky star and forget all the problems of today
the final few minutes of all these videos are just so amazing
Most of my Japan cultural knowledge come from this show. I gain a lot from the reference and ending songs. Sadly this is not my favorite show now since I haven’t watch it for some year. I don’t want to trap from it and keep rewatching.
Also great artist for kagami fan-art: ichimirenge
FINALLY!! ive been waiting for someone that appreciates lucky star as much as me. Great video!!
I rewatch Lucky Star about 3 times a year on average
It's literally been one of the most comforting shows for me, it defined a era for me I genuinely treasured.
Excellent video man
"they go home to visit their families after work" Rolling 😂
"what the hell is a Gunbuster"
I am now offended.
It is so weird looking back at baby Kyoani and remembering what the studio would grow up to do
The Anime Start
i laughed so hard on that intro XD amazing video bro
hopefully this will spawn love for the show again. good review, couldnt have done it better myself.
I agreed with absolutely everything you said until you mentioned that you thought rent a girlfriend was 10/10 then I remembered you made this on April Fools 💀 also when it comes to old 2000s comedy animes I think azumanga diaoh 100% takes the bag
Azumanga Daioh is peak highschool SoL comedy anime.
Despite not having watched it (definitely plan to) this anime passively invokes nostalgic feelings in me just for looking at it for some reason
Hah, I'm not a native English speaker, you can't hurt me.
I did watch Perfect Blue in my native language, and I'm horrified how we used to speak 20+ years ago.
Hearing that there's a 0.01% chance of a season 2 is the best news of the year for me
Interesting 10/10 list you got there.
Alln your videos are so funny thats why i subbed inthe first place
EXCEPT FOR THE BASSIST??!?!?!?!? As a bass player and bass enthusiast I feel disrespected.
Incredible video...that burst of AOT music got me sadly D:
At this point in time being an anime fan felt special and meeting another anime fan was awesome these shows stuck with you for life cuz it's was the beginning for a lot of people into the anime world
I was born in 2002 so I wouldn't know that feeling. I watched it properly around 2019.
Good vid man (hehe First I think)
You were
Eureka 7 and Gurren lagann were the first anime I watched and I couldn't have asked for a better start :)
best outro, I forgive you for skipping last videos outro :)
It's nice to see a fellow Lucky Star enjoyer.
Great taste man
It's kinda hard to catch the joke at some poin, because their joke heavly influence by a common things in japan culture, but a weebs will not find any trouble with this.
Even so, this anime is timeless, wich mean youncan keep rewatching whenever you like and the joke will stil hit, one time i got so bored, so i decide to rewatch this anime in random order, and that's totally fine, because every episode have different topic
Nice video lunar.
The greatest video of all time
(But nah fr, this video is actually really good)
Konata was my first waifu, Konata x Kagami was my first OTP, Kanata's scene made me cry a bunch too
Man this video kinda makes me want to see the anime
Honestly, Lucky star was amazing. The Opening was also an absolute banger, completely fooling you into it being a completely different show just to dial down the speed to 0.1 once it finishes.
The dance moves at the end were peak.
I remember stumbling across 0092h's NND re-upload of "こなた達でアッーウッウッイネイネ【らき☆すたMIX】", now my love feels all wrong. Still haven't recovered.
So yeah, I watched Lucky Star and then Haruhi. Before that I was watching whatever was on toonami. Now i'm a fansub addict.
" i buy sausage" 💀
Ah a real classic! I got into it thanks to the Haruhi community at the time.
Ytpms are the single reason i know about this series. And i love it.
Hey, Nurse Witch Komugi was awesome! That Alstofo or whatever the hell his name is owes his entire design to Komugi. He's basically just cosplaying her.
God I love love love Lucky Star. It's freaking hilarious 😂
The lunar that defined the equinox

QUEUE THE INTRO!
this with the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya define the 2000s anime era
Seeing Freezing there 🥺🔥🔥 love that Anime Satelizer El Bridget
That anime is good! It’s been a while since I watched it, I only have 6 episodes left to watch. I’m gonna watch it today
My first anime before even pokemon and a great show. Didn’t get any of the references first time round but I still really enjoyed the atmosphere as a kid. I watched it again with my boyfriend recently and it’s still great. Probably watched it 10 times through and even made choco cornets to test the various techniques. It probably wasn’t appropriate for me as a 9 year old though.
Ive watched this anime in 2022 and i still loved and still love this anime
Same
Happy Birthday!!!
Thanks
So I went from watching shows like Bratz, to Winx Club, to MyScene, to Lucky Star, Azumanga Daioh, K-ON then uh My Little Pony. I'm a girl that loved watching shows about girl groups of friends because I aspired to have a girl group but honestly they're kind of hard to come by x.x Anyhow I think the adult male writer of Lucky Star actually captured how real girls acted pretty well as a contrast to K-ON which I felt like was this weird idealization of how girls are apparently just cute 24/7. The characters in LS were framed by archetypes, but had more complexity and nuance beyond those archetypes just as well. I loved how several girls that were all kind of different (a nerd, basic girl, bookworm, and well idk exactly what you'd call Kagami) but still hung out and either found common ground or entertained conversations about the kind of stuff they were into. Miyuki was a ditz, but actually really smart and Konata was like something that society would want one to be ashamed of, yet she was proud of. Meanwhile Kagami to me was pretty relatable not for her personality, but because she was into nerdy things, but also very much a regular girl at the same time. Tsukasa too..she was like a side character almost that was self aware that she was a side character.
Idk why but it bothers me when shows that show just how multi-faceted people are like Haruhi and Lucky Star are grouped into like 'moe trash for dudes to get off to' cause to me idk, it's the shows that kind of copied or were inspired by those shows that were more like that.
I really like the art style
Hey lunar you should watch this oldish anime called heavens lost properties. Its main character made simply the best song ever in one of the ep in s1
I saw it a while ago
Bro you have cultured taste. Much respect.
Lucky star IS a holy grail of anime, and you can't change my mind
“I don’t have anything funny to say, I’m tsukasa” - never has there been a more funny, and more dead on description of her @04:15
This was a great video, thank you kindly for making it 🫡
Still need to watch nurse witch. SoulTaker is incredibly fire.
Nurse witch komugi chan is an anime sugar overdose. I love it! (but never watched the sequel )I still need to see soultaker too.
I started watching anime in 2018 I still came across this show over big action anime. Watching this made awakened my love for the slice of life genre.
Good timing! I made button pins with Konata saying OK B00MER because she’d be a zoomer if her anime got released right now!
But considering when it did release, she would be near 40
8:58 He thought we wouldn't notice the Gyro Zeppeli's original song in the background.
Lucky Star was such a Legendary God-Send. Though to be frank, a season 2 produced this far in this day n age would have me worried, cos replicating talents one to one is a causality-breaking feat along with possibilities of a retcon.
Oh Shit and I thought I had watched every fate anime. Guess I gotta binge this one!
Hidamari Sketch is my CGDCT of choice. It's stayed my number 2 for pretty much my 5y of anime so far. Similar to Gintama and my #1
I always saw Lucky Star as the "Seinfield" of anime... they pick a random topic and explore all the funny and nonsense about it... literally a "show about nothing"...
LOVED IT!
I remember watching it and found it very weird for it's seeming lack of plot and story but still continued with it and came to like the genre
Think ima give this one a watch
most informed code geass take i have ever heard
Ahhh this is that anime randomly in a bunch of amvs I... used (do)... watch.
Never watched this one... as at that time I had only just found out Pokemon and cardcaptors weren't originally produced in English...
Hey pls make a review of Uncle from Another World
9:03 Jokes on you, English is not my native language
you’re the best
No I really paused the video when you said Code Geass redefined the Mecha genre cuz I was so interested in what you were gonna say about that cuz tbh I don't think Geass really treaded much new ground specifically in the context of mecha but was so excited to be proven wrong 😭😭😭
Bro give some review about Gintama, Fairy tale, sheild hero, black clover and Must Pokemon Pokemon and Pokemon
where is the Link to that site man? (asking for a friend )
You should try 91 Days. It is really good.
Lucky Star is just such a nice and funny show to watch, I keep it on in the background while I work on hw practically everyday 😭💕
I'm only half way through the video but man, every single joke is LANDING.
i was 15 when this came out now im 31 i avoided the show probably cuz i disliked slice of life but now i feel like I have to watch this. I do remember seeing lucky stars everywhere tho it was insane
:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SEASON TWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO?????
