I've heard a lot about this anime, but haven't watched it yet. But I am shocked that this is your best anime, Lunar. I didn't expect this thing at all, but now I'm sure you're the type of person who likes lolli girls anime. No matter how strange your taste is, my friend. I originally watched lucky star on UA-cam back in 2007. I initially watched it because I was completely obsessed with the opening theme lol. I was fourteen and just falling headfirst into both the internet and anime.( when I actually knew what anime was). I thought pokemon was just a really cool cartoon as a little kid, same with cardcaptors, yugioh, sailor noon, and digimon. I later got super invested in manga and now my collection for both is just a bit overwhelming. Now I have to rewatch my Lucky Star blu ray again. Great video. P.S. The linkin park amvs were watched religously by me as well. They were freaking everywhere.
Definitely one of my favorite anime, after i first watched it more than a decade ago i decided to watch most of the anime it made reference to and then rewatched it a decade later, loved it like it was the first time again. Can't wait to watch it again after a few more years when another decade finishes.
Each generation has their nostalgia era and I would fight anyone to go back to mid-2000s to early-2010s times. Anime was at a transition time between the old anime stigma and mainstream media, it was just great to be a fan.
Damn I remember when I was new into anime and I stumbled across a funny moments compilation of lucky star. I got hooked immedietly and started watching it. It's kinda weird that this is my third anime.
I watched it WAYY later than the original release but god I remember begging my friends to learn the opening dance with me, convinced none of em they all were into kpop at the time(me too lol)
I somehow missed this entire era of anime, as it came at a major turning point for my life in 2008. (I got married that year) But years later, I was looking for a very specific kind of anime, I wanted something that was similar to Azumanga Daioh, one of my favorites, and Lucky Star kept coming up. So I decided to check it out and ended up loving it. I'd say that I even ended up liking Lucky Star more than Azumanga Daioh. It's a very interesting, silly, and unique kind of anime and I really enjoyed the main cast and their interactions. Konata is kind of shameless anime fan pandering but it still worked on me anyway.
Glad people still make videos bout this anime, since most videos I find bout Lucky Star are 15 year old remixes or clips lol I only started watching Lucky Star about 8 months ago but it instantly became my favorite anime, probably because it was the first anime I fully watched Great vid man👍
One thing that many people don't stop to think is that the characters are actually subversion of the labels Konata apply to them, she only call them that because she is an Otaku. Kagami is actually a caring sister and her slightly harsh side towards Konata are not a silly attempt to hide her feelings but a direct response to Konata's teasing. When Konata is not messing with her they hold a normal friendship, play games together and share stuff they like. Miyuki sure is cutesy clumsy but also is knowledgeable and diligent, the person they rely on when they need someone more knowledgeable. Konata is neither childish acting like a toddler nor is the flat short angry girl jealous of the better endowed girls, she is a total geek who works part time besides going to school, is confident and proud of her own body and likes to mess with her friends. And finally Akira who is an actual kid who acts all cutesy but that is just a facade, she is actually an angry delinquent-like, foul mouthed and abusive. This show is actually a deconstruction of the moe genre where characters are labeled in show and yet don't really fit on the labels applied to them.
I rewatch Lucky Star about 3 times a year on average It's literally been one of the most comforting shows for me, it defined a era for me I genuinely treasured. Excellent video man
Gotta say the Geass bit got me, especially as I was hoping for some shitposting that Lelouch now has clone kids in the Sunrise co-produced Gacha Game with his most popular ships (Nunally, Kallen, Suzaku, C.C.)
It's a time capsule of ages past. It contains the culture and subculture of that era. One of an anime that I hope will be localized and aired again and again from time to time...
I genuinely still say "Bye bee" to my little sister who puts up with my million Otaku references while she fills me in on all the Kpop gossip. I'm so lucky to have an unmuzzled nezuko.
Even though I was only a 2nd grader when Lucky Star released and I wasn't watching anime at the time but I did discover this anime during Lucky Stars 10 year anniversary. This where my weeb journey started with Lucky Star
Great taste man It's kinda hard to catch the joke at some poin, because their joke heavly influence by a common things in japan culture, but a weebs will not find any trouble with this. Even so, this anime is timeless, wich mean youncan keep rewatching whenever you like and the joke will stil hit, one time i got so bored, so i decide to rewatch this anime in random order, and that's totally fine, because every episode have different topic
I agreed with absolutely everything you said until you mentioned that you thought rent a girlfriend was 10/10 then I remembered you made this on April Fools 💀 also when it comes to old 2000s comedy animes I think azumanga diaoh 100% takes the bag

Hah, I'm not a native English speaker, you can't hurt me. I did watch Perfect Blue in my native language, and I'm horrified how we used to speak 20+ years ago.

Hey, Nurse Witch Komugi was awesome! That Alstofo or whatever the hell his name is owes his entire design to Komugi. He's basically just cosplaying her.
So I went from watching shows like Bratz, to Winx Club, to MyScene, to Lucky Star, Azumanga Daioh, K-ON then uh My Little Pony. I'm a girl that loved watching shows about girl groups of friends because I aspired to have a girl group but honestly they're kind of hard to come by x.x Anyhow I think the adult male writer of Lucky Star actually captured how real girls acted pretty well as a contrast to K-ON which I felt like was this weird idealization of how girls are apparently just cute 24/7. The characters in LS were framed by archetypes, but had more complexity and nuance beyond those archetypes just as well. I loved how several girls that were all kind of different (a nerd, basic girl, bookworm, and well idk exactly what you'd call Kagami) but still hung out and either found common ground or entertained conversations about the kind of stuff they were into. Miyuki was a ditz, but actually really smart and Konata was like something that society would want one to be ashamed of, yet she was proud of. Meanwhile Kagami to me was pretty relatable not for her personality, but because she was into nerdy things, but also very much a regular girl at the same time. Tsukasa too..she was like a side character almost that was self aware that she was a side character. Idk why but it bothers me when shows that show just how multi-faceted people are like Haruhi and Lucky Star are grouped into like 'moe trash for dudes to get off to' cause to me idk, it's the shows that kind of copied or were inspired by those shows that were more like that.
My first anime before even pokemon and a great show. Didn’t get any of the references first time round but I still really enjoyed the atmosphere as a kid.
