It is totally fine with me🤗I am an old woman but I never decorate and prefer to spend it peacefulle on my own. No fuss or stress, It is bliss🤩 and my family respect it.
I Love your idea of a Minimalist Christmas. I thought it was just me who felt this way. A very stressful time of year, always glad when it is over. And I enjoy my alone time too. Great to recharge and look at life differently when we all get so crazy, it is the little things in life that really matter. Thank you Nicki ❤
I enjoyed this "peaceful and real life things we all do" episode. Holly and Indy are perfect companions. As I see it, Holly is a little introverted and Indy is a little extroverted, but they obviously enjoy each others company.
As a first generation Scandinavian American I believe that Christmas is what we make of it, most important is consciously connecting to our hearts, infusing love into everyday living. Making an extra effort to hand make something festive, singing songs old and new and being grateful for loved ones and simple pleasures. I loved this sabbatical advent video and the outtakes AND the happy return❤
No worries about Christmas. I haven't decorated in 8 years as I haven't the time anymore and nobody ever visits anyway. Enjoy what you want, and don't let anyone make you feel differently.
I totally agree about the 'fuss' of Christmas - but the religious part is important to me. I was always the one putting up the decorations, and removing them, and the present buying and wrapping. Now that there are no more little kids and my husband is in Heaven, now I can relax and enjoy the Holiday peacefully.
As someone who does not celebrate Christmas I appreciate your candour regarding Christmas. It is refreshing to see how you and your family are so realistic and down to earth. Thank you for sharing.
That was another charming video. I love the bonus, and I always love the see the friendship with Elizabeth. My favorite part was when Holly looked like she was going to be swept away by the ocean waves and when Nicki shrieked, Holly turned around to make sure Nicki was alright. Such a loving dog.
This was a fun episode, and it’s so nice to see Elizabeth and the girls in your videos, they are always so cheerful and happy all the time❤ in fact, when I was in Positano, I had to stop by the blue star booth to say hello to Elizabeth, and I dropped off a bunch of gum and candy for her team! The views are always so mesmerizing to me. I love watching the views when you film and just a little little simple things that you do and as far away place. I’m so happy that you got some alone time, everybody needs it every now and then just to chill, and do nothing or what you choose to do.!!
Holly's face is just too sweet ❤ it's her big round eyes that make her so adorable 🥰, of course, Indie is beautiful too❤️ thank you, Nikki, for your content 🌸
I so agree about sweet Holly. Italian dogs in general seem to be extra cute for some reason but you just can't look at Holly and not say, "Aww che bello".
I don't like Xmas either. I get too melancholy. Too much loss, too many sad memories. I'd rather order Chinese food on the 25 and watch horror movies ❤ Thank you for sharing that and everything else Nikki 🙏 Another wonderful video. Bless.
Such a peaceful episode today 😌❤ I'm not big on Christmas either. I hated it as a kid, because of the stressful effect it had on my mother. Then later, when we simplified Christmas, by just making it our immediate family I really started to love it. But in recent years I developed social anxiety and again it has become a stressful period. So I don't decorate and only the kids under 18 get gifts, apart from my husband. If our adult kids want to decorate they can, but as Christmas is spent elsewhere they have given up. Christmas is different for each of us and we need to respect each other's decisions and not put pressure on each other. I still enjoy seeing houses around my neighbourhood decorated and the light displays at night and I still have an appreciation of what traditions mean to others ❤
I agree with you completely. After decades of making the effort to ensure everything is perfectly decorated, all the food purchased and made, endless lists of everything, cooking and then travelling hours to the different houses I’m done. If people want things to look and be a certain way then they can do it themselves. It’s not surprising, however, how they have decided that they’re not as bothered when it comes to doing things themselves. Life doesn’t have to include unnecessary pressures to make something that is shallow, expensive and just for a few days. The most important thing is to have a nice family gathering for a few days and enjoy their company. Enjoy your holidays in the way that suits you best and ignore the mean comment because they don’t matter one jot.
@@mircat28 I may have misunderstood your comment, it sounds like you're saying that I choose to be stressed? And that I'm taking something away from others? I understand that it's really easy to misunderstand written comments, so I'd like to make sure I understand what you're saying.
That's OK Nikki..you don't have to buy into the Christmas hype..just be yourself..we support you.The pannetone looked so good!!!How peaceful being alone...just not having to talk to anyone..lovely.Just dogs for company...the best down time...but we miss you Carlo😅
What a relief. I am not into Christmas either especially this year specifically. Love the visuals and the sounds of your videos. I have to work over 80 hrs per week and watching your videos really help me manage my stress levels. ❤
Not everybody is cut out for shopping, decorating, and all that goes with the season. You do you! Nobody does it better. I love that you are being real. I don't care for Christmas either. I had to do it all by myself for 25 years. It wasn't any fun at all. Keep being you please!!! I so enjoy the dopamine hit I get every night while watching your videos. Thank you for helping me with my Italian, Carlo! This is the perfect channel❤
As a 66 year old woman who lives alone, I appreciate the fact that you and I both agree that Christmas is over rated. My sons live 1000 miles from me and I do not bother decorating. The alone time is wonderful and I am sure you enjoyed it. I love it, read my books, watch TV, cook when I want. I have decided that I do not want a life partner anymore. I have had two great loves, numerous boyfriends and don't feel the need of a man to make me complete.
I just recently started watching your videos, they are so much fun. I really enjoyed the “behind the scenes” I had no idea that is how you shoot video, and all the work it entails. I also agree with you about Christmas, I do less decorating every year, I put a small tree up mostly for the grandkids.
Right on! I do a minimalist Christmas. I like the lights. I only decorate the fireplace and put some lights on the small tree by our front door to fit in with the neighborhood.
Christmas really is a Christian religious feast day and as a Catholic it is spiritual and filled with peace and prayer and thanksgiving and giving. Much different then the way most the world does it which I find miserable hehe I am glad you wont have the stress of vlogmas Nicki. Thank you for this lovely video. It is so nice to see you free for awhile. I just met the most beautiful Italian man here in the states and we hope to marry. It is just amazing and unexpected specially because I have been watching you and Carlo since almost the beginning. He also has a family home in Italy near the sea. Anyway just know Nicki you are loved and appreciated all year thank you
Ah Nicky your serenity and calm video soothes my troubled soul living in a war zone and under attack at any time. Thank you for showing me as you do every week a normal calm day. 🥰🌺
I love Christmas! The preparation, decorating the house and the tree! Surrounded by loved ones and friends! And the birth of Jesus is the most beautiful moment to celebrate his coming❤
When my mother was in her 70’s she decided that she was going to become a minimalist during the Christmas Holiday. Thinking she was depressed, I tried so hard to encourage her to let me put a small lighted tree in her apartment. She would not hear of it. Today, I myself am heading towards my 80’s, and I too understand the true meaning of the holiday. It takes me 5 minutes to decorate, when in the past it took me weeks. Glad you had some time to yourself. Thanks again for letting us enjoy it with you. ❤️🎄
I can see how you keep fit, running after your camera as well as those Mountain climbs. What a wonderful feeling when we are totally free to take each moment as it comes. XX
The true meaning of Christmas may be forgotten for some people. I hope you all can feel the spirit of Christmas regardless of your circumstance. I literally don't have the funds for many gifts this year and won't be seeing family, but I'm joyful and I get that joy through Christ, Amen. ❤ Loved the music and photography in this vlog, Nikki, you are a poet...❤
A brilliant peaceful video so nice to watch. One of the things we love about living in Portugal now is that Christmas is so much more traditional than in the UK and not about spending on unnecessary things that are not needed for a happy holiday .
I love Christmas and decorate my house because I enjoy it. My sons are grown and my husband doesn't care if I do or don't decorate. I'm totally fine with you not decorating or liking Christmas. It's really not our business what you choose to do for Christmas. I enjoy your content in whatever you do.
2024 Living in New Zealand 🇳🇿 Italy 🇮🇹 having seen this view earlier on it was neat to watch it again. Filming yourself Nicki was clever and so beautifully done without a glitch. The difference between Positano and Tuscany. Positano is very homely with the hustle and bustle when tourists are out and about. You make it look effortless even climbing those many steps. Good on you Nicki ❤❤❤❤❤😊
We are retired nomads. We travel the world and always travel during the holiday season. We especially love the European Christmas markets. We don't buy each other gifts, decorate a tree, or even make Christmas cookies. I did all of that when the kids were young, and I don't miss any of it. I love Christmas. I feel like I'm on the outside looking in, and it's magical!
I haven’t celebrated Christmas for over 45 years and I honestly don’t miss it. I find it material, commercial and based on fiction and hype rather than reality and meaningful purpose. When I want to give, I do, from the heart, according to my means and my timeline. When I want to connect with family and friends, I do. When I want to worship, I do, as frequently as I’m able. For me, this approach has authenticity and sincerity.
Who cares about Xmas...I can't wait to see more of your Tuscany house!!!!!! Not much longer now 💝 Along with all the stair climbing, that backtracking you do to retrieve your camera is how you're really staying fit, Nicki 😜
Nikki I really enjoyed this episode and the food you make is so appetizing and healthy it makes my mouth water. The crusty bread and cheese reminds me of growing up in the UK. Growing your own food is certainly advantageous. I applaud your conviction about Christmas and not being afraid to voice it. Well done.😀
These are my favorite videos to watch. Alone. Home. Day to day tasks. We are 7 in three house and its always busy and noisy and im always out on errands. Watching these videos reminds me to have some me quiet time. I love those days when everyone is gone and its just me. I enjoyed watching you cook and just random stuff. 😊
I have lived alone for longer than I shared space with partners and roommates so I appreciated seeing your reflective week. Especially at a time of year when the expectation is to be social and perhaps convivial more for show than personal preference. I appreciate your channel for not feeling the need to follow the latest social media fad, but doing what feels right to you.
I agree with you about Christmas and admire your honesty. We are lucky enough to go down to Spain and Morocco in our camper van for the festive season so can choose to avoid the commerciality of it all. Enjoy whatever it is you do Nicki and only do what makes you happy x
I'm not that into xmas either this year but my boyfriend and I did get the Christmas tree up and decorated with lights before opening presents. And I'm so glad we did. We're in our early 60s but putting the tree up with lights on Christmas day was invigorating! I get your sentiments about Xmas gifts and hoopla but isn't it worth a little effort in the end? I so enjoy your videos , please keep them coming. And even if 1 person sends a negative message about your post. That doesn't necessarily negate the rest of your viewers. Don't focus on the 1 negative comment. Please keep posting the trail walks, Merry Christmas, Elizabeth and Ben
After watching your video, I found that we resonate with each other. Today's festivals place too much emphasis on ceremony and expenses, and it takes a lot of effort, money, and time just for the sake of ceremony. Thank you for your inspiration. I am planning to have my wife take the children on vacation, while I stay at home to do yard work and enjoy the Solitude 😊 🎉Thank you❤
So sad to know you do not enjoy Christmas, but it is your choice. Giving at Christmas time is extra special for me. I wish you the best in 2024 with alot going on in Tuscany.
I get not feeling enthusiastic towards Christmas celebrations. I avoided Christmas stuff for so long after my brother died, but it's been 19 years and I've found in the lately that being over the top about celebrating Christmas (not excessive about gifts though) has really helped me appreciate the life I still have, and the family I still have. The decorations really brighten my mood too in the northern climate I live in when there's barely any daylight, and everything looks ugly outside. I dont think I would feel as motivated if I lived somewhere that was as far south as you do. Sunny warm weather just doesn't match with Christmas in my mind.
Having time to be alone is very important and is very good! It's great to be together, together and happy, but we need those valuable minutes. I loved seeing your pets together including Itty Bitty Kitty, all beautiful! As for Christmas, I completely understand your thoughts. Always be free and happy, regardless of social conventions 🥰💐
I loved this video. You brought to my heart the quiet contemplation one often experiences while alone and your reminiscence about your Christmas branch was touching. You have a special gift for sharing your life in a way that touches hearts. You may not want to celebrate Christmas but your videos are a gift that keeps on giving. Thank you and Christmas blessings to you and yours.
🎉Congratulations on quitting makeup Nicki🎉 I’ve been in the industry for over 20 yrs now and slowly moving away from it. Much like yourself, I am not a fan of the Xmas season, totally identifiable. Love your sweet doggies, serene walks, and always authentic vibe❤
I agree with you, Nikki, Christmas is in my heart only. It has gotten so commercialized and materialistic. It stresses me out. Also I don’t get a chance to visit my family at all so I just like to treat it like any other day❤.
I’m so with you about Christmas, running around shopping & preparing for weeks then cooking, serving, dishes, next course, rinse & repeat. Now our little family have a cold graze (Australia its hot) of antipasto, seafood, salads & sweets. So relaxing & low key. Do it your way & enjoy.
I'm with you... I call it the Silly Season. In the States, it starts the day after Thanksgiving and runs through New Years Day. I don't decorate and don't attend the sales. The dogs looked concerned when you laid down on the bench during your walk, lol. Thank you for the beautiful, relaxing video! "Enjoy the season."
Dearest Nicki, Each Sunday is like Christmas when your lovely videos land. Thank you for sharing your life with us! Sending much love to all from Carmel by the Sea xoxo
As long as we don't forget the actual meaning of Christmas - Christ our Saviour ❤ You live in such a beautiful town, your house and garden is really beautiful too - the pathways into the hills ...nature just outside your gate ... the sea .... the town .... wow !
I Live near a Holiday seaside in North Wales, it's lovely when the holiday maker's go home. We get the resort to our selves, get in cafe's, and able to PARK.
I thought your Christmas decorating was homespun and romantic!! I liked the minimalist aesthetic very much. The best part of the holidays is that you get to visit with friends and family. Enjoy food that may only be made at year end, and overindulge a little. Celebrate the holidays your way, and ENJOY!!
I think 🤔 sometimes when we are missing loved ones , the holidays are tough. It took me a few years to get past that myself. I've finally come out the other side from loss ( and menopause 😫 , which didn't help ) , and am now making new memories with my grandchildren. At first, I had to make myself by reminding myself that I am now the matriarch , I am grandma , and I need to be a key figure in my grandkid's holiday memories, for them. I often wonder if my mom or grandma felt this way? Anyway sorry, I didn't mean to write you a book, lol. I just felt a need to share 😉. Thank you once again for my weekly getaway ☺️. God bless 🙏. The reason for the season is the most important thing 🕊️.
I'm over it as well now. When we were kids we didn't have much, so when my siblings and I became young adults, got jobs and had decent money coming in for the first time, we used to go to town with it. Past all that now, just enjoy cooking a nice meal and watching the TV stuff I like comfortably in my own home, without having to negotiate with anyone else 😁
Nicki I have watched you near 3 1/2 years now. You have taught me to look after myself both physically and emotionally. You are aging backwards. I'm sure it's due to the excitement of what retirement will be in your 2nd home.
Thank you Nicki for always giving us the most beautiful and calming escapism. Your home and lifestyle look so peaceful, it enables us viewers to daydream a little while we experience it along with you. Christmas can feel like a chaotic and stressful time so this was a much needed gentle reminder for us all to take things at our own pace when we can. ❤
I appreciate your honesty about Christmas. If you are not involved in the religious aspects of Christmas, all that is left is the commercial aspects, woven into family traditions, both which are difficult to get excited about most of the time. Do what makes you feel happy. I’m sure Carlo’s celebration will be tied closely to his families.
Your dogs are amazing----they just stay with you, wherever you go and are very obedient---such good dogs----a tribute to their owners!!!! You and Carlo did a good job of training----I'm very impressed!!!! Hope all is well with you and your family!!!
Hearing your feelings about Xmas videos ect I truly appreciate the vlogmas series you and carlo did in 2022. The content was great and is something my family and I enjoy going back to at Christmas time. Thank you for all the hard work and time you guys put into those ❤
I understand about Christmas. It was my dad's favorite holiday. I lost him 24 years ago just before Christmas. Its been a struggle to celebrate it properly ever since. You are not alone Nicki 🙏
Nicki, I really enjoyed this video! How nice to have some alone time to think, reflect and just breathe! I would agree with you that Christmas has gotten out of hand! Stick to what warms you during this season and don't buy into the "hype"! Have a wonderful week and thank you for sharing! Marianne
A lovely video Nicki. It is such a treat to have some alone time, isn't it? Xmas can be so fraught sometimes, and a lot of work. I'm with you. Relax and enjoy the days. xo Suzi
It is refreshing to know that someone else does not enjoy Christmas with all the hype that starts weeks before, the stores imploring us to spend cash we don’t have on unnecessary Christmas presents . Oh, and all the tiresome Christmas records on the radio and in the shops! I do enjoy a get together with some close friends on the day itself, with a quiz which I compile. I live on my own and the only decoration I will have is a very small artificial tree with battery powered lights. The best part of Christmas is when it is over and holiday planning can start!
Thank you Nicki for this this vlog, every piece of this content resonates to my life and what I love. The sea, family, dogs, good food, invaluable friendships, exploring and hiking for mental health and the health of my pets. The holiday getaway for Carlo with Tomas and Skye is important, a father's presence in their child's life carries over to generational love. I also love my alone time where I set my mind free to do what is healthy and nurturing for me..
'Home Alone" the Positano version, very enjoyable to watch. Time spent alone can feed the soul 😊
It is totally fine with me🤗I am an old woman but I never decorate and prefer to spend it peacefulle on my own. No fuss or stress, It is bliss🤩 and my family respect it.
I could feel how serene and relaxed this was for you. Alone time is a wonderful thing.
Alone time is good , unless it is forced on you 24/7 .
Hi Carlo here, thank you very much, yes it's true having time alone is priceless!💕😘👋
This is also true, I hope no one forces you to be alone!😘👋
So true.

Hi Nicky i am relieved to know there is people that feel the same way, 🙏💝
Re Christmas - I am SO with you, Nicki! Positano in the off season looks like my idea of paradise.
The nature sounds in this video are perfection!
Your fur babies are SOOOOOOOOO sweet & images beautiful as always. Thank you for sharing your cooking
Extremely helpful
Love the new intro, so glad to follow along in your videos 😍😍❤️
Your film-making skills are fantastic. Thank you for making such inviting films of your life in Positano. ❤
The beach looked so quiet & deserted without all of the tourists. It’s always nice to get some time alone to decompress yourself.
I love the videos of you walking towards the camera instead of walking away
🎉Congratulations on quitting makeup Nicki🎉 I’ve been in the industry for over 20 yrs now and slowly moving away from it. Much like yourself, I am not a fan of the Xmas season, totally identifiable. Love your sweet doggies, serene walks, and always authentic vibe❤
I agree with you, Nikki, Christmas is in my heart only. It has gotten so commercialized and materialistic. It stresses me out. Also I don’t get a chance to visit my family at all so I just like to treat it like any other day❤.
Yeah, a woman after my own heart. I cannot wait for Christmas to be over.
LOVE your dogs! Specially the little one. I can't live without dogs since 1974 ;)
Thank you Nikki. Another great video. God bless you and your wonderful family and the fur babies. ❤
It is 100% fine with me. The pressure to have a picture perfect Christmas can be overwhelming for many.
Dearest Nicki, Each Sunday is like Christmas when your lovely videos land. Thank you for sharing your life with us! Sending much love to all from Carmel by the Sea xoxo
Beautiful! I could stand that 12 mos out of the year!💖🎇😎🐕🐾🐾🐾
As long as we don't forget the actual meaning of Christmas - Christ our Saviour ❤ You live in such a beautiful town, your house and garden is really beautiful too - the pathways into the hills ...nature just outside your gate ... the sea .... the town .... wow !
That may be what it means to you but not everybody!
@@mircat28it's called CHRISTmas.
@@missybelmont9830you do know it’s actually a Pagan festival taken over by ‘Christianity’ you can celebrate without including the fairytale
Maybe just keep your comments to yourself then? If you don't believe in God that's your business.
There's so much variety in your videos, Nicki. And today, I just enjoyed sharing the peace and quiet of your "alone" time.
Glad you got some alone time!!!! A vacation worth its weight in gold. Greeting from Boston, Massachusetts🌲
Nicki I have watched you near 3 1/2 years now. You have taught me to look after myself both physically and emotionally. You are aging backwards. I'm sure it's due to the excitement of what retirement will be in your 2nd home.
Good morning from southern Utah🌻💙🌻
A very peaceful video, we women need some free time to re find ourselves. Great video. Thanks.
When you walk along the cliff edges …well, my heart stops😮
Marianne
Hope your dad is spending time with family members this Christmas Nicki. You must miss him.
A lovely video Nicki. It is such a treat to have some alone time, isn't it? Xmas can be so fraught sometimes, and a lot of work. I'm with you. Relax and enjoy the days. xo Suzi
I love that you returned to a spot that helps the sweetest memory of a simple Christmas with Carlo. ✌️❤️🎄
❤❤❤happy sunday❤❤❤
It is refreshing to know that someone else does not enjoy Christmas with all the hype that starts weeks before, the stores imploring us to spend cash we don’t have on unnecessary Christmas presents . Oh, and all the tiresome Christmas records on the radio and in the shops! I do enjoy a get together with some close friends on the day itself, with a quiz which I compile. I live on my own and the only decoration I will have is a very small artificial tree with battery powered lights. The best part of Christmas is when it is over and holiday planning can start!
Thank you Nicki , a very nice relaxing video , enjoy your time alone , doing what makes you happy is what it’s all about 😊❤
"I don't like christmas"....Nicki for what its worth I fully support this statement
