Hi Heidi, Wow!! What a great video. I learned SO much!! I have only made homemade wine once - about a year ago - with some grapes that I got from a local vineyard. They were covered with "must" and worked great. But then I forgot all about doing that. You have brought it back into the forefront with these videos that you share on wine making. I will have to give a try again. We don't drink either but I love all the uses you share. And like the idea of using it to make tinctures. Thanks for always sharing your ALL YOUR WISDOM so generously!! Love you, Mary

I'm glad you mentioned the antibiotic tincture. After watching your video on it , I mixed up a batch and actually forgot it for over 4 months. My husband was getting a pretty nasty sinus infection and I remembered it. I gave him a pretty good dose that night and he came to me the next night and asked for another dose. That's all it took to stomp out that infection. I was thrilled. NOW, it is quite nasty tasting. Really nasty, but so worth it.

We have 6 large mulberry trees and will start making mulberry wine. Thanks for the great video. I love your channel.

God is good for sure. I needed to hear your message this morning. For the reasons you listed and more at age 61, I removed ethanol from my daily consumption. Let me say, it has not been easy, but it has been easier than I thought it would be. Just wish I had done it 30 years ago. Anyway, It's nice to see that there will still be uses for my wine making equipment. Thanks! 😊

I so appreciate your sincere testimony dear friend. Your a blessing in addition to your teaching skills. My father was a alcoholic and my home life growing up was miserable so I have always despised it. But also as a born again Christian it is also a conviction as with you. I know there are many uses for wine as you show in this video that are not used to partake of being a drinker. Thank you for this great video, blessings

I respect this so much! I share the same convictions regarding drinking alcohol as a beverage, and haven’t really found anyone else outside my own family that agrees. I’ve made tinctures over the years, but never wine until now. I just started my first batch today right before finding this video.

I am a non-drinker also for many reasons, but I love cooking with wine. I would also use as med. in moderation. You may have said it, but wine also helps break down the muscle tissue in meat, which tenderizes the meat.

Oh this is a super exciting video!! Just like you, I make all kinds of homemade wine, but I don't drink it. I don't drink any alcohol due to my auto-immune disease that the main side effect is vertigo. I always tell people when they offer me alcohol that "the last thing a person who suffers from natural bed spins is to drink alcohol".
I haven't had any alcohol in decades.
My dad has a heart condition and his specialist tells him to drink 4 ounces of wine a day. So he is my biggest "customer". I also give it away for the holidays.
This year I plan on making some dandelion wine for the first time.

My uncle asked me to bird sit for a month while he and his Fiancée went to Germany. He brought the parrot over my house. The parrot didn’t even have a name. That should have been my first hint that they wanted me to keep it.
When they got back from Germany, they didn’t pick up the bird. His sister invited me over for dinner. By the way, my brother will be here too. Okay, time to get the bird back to the owners. My uncle asked if I would keep the bird.
I actually did grow fond of the parrot. She has quite a personality. But I said, “No”. I’m thinking it’s hard enough to accommodate the dog and cat when I go on a trip. The bird is another mess to clean, etc. Then my aunt asks, “Does anyone want a manhattan?”
Normally I would decline, but for some reason I said, “Yes, I’ll have a manhattan”. I started felling all warm and fuzzy. I started saying, “I just love that bird!” The next thing you know, I own a Senegal African Parrot.
    I named her Manhattan.

On your video today 9/10/21 I had said, I don't drink, but I would try making wine because it makes food taste really good, and you kindly linked this video to my question. Listening to your story, and how you felt after you stopped drinking, and be of clear mind, wow same here. I went through the same thing. I became highly allergic to any alcohol, which when it happen I had no choice, but to stop cold turkey like you said. Then and only then I relized how I was depending on that feeling or lack of feeling alcohol gave me. I was so blessed my husband didn't and doesn't drink, so he made it so easy for me to stop. My allergie to alcohol is a blessing for me, and I am so thankdful for it.
I will attempt to make a wine that I can use like you for the many things other than drinking lol.
Thank you for how giving you are. I didn't know you had made this video, but I am glad you linked the video for me to watch.

I rarely drink. I’m a single parent and if something were to happen to one of the kids, it fell upon me to be present to help them. Occasionally I would have a glass at an extended family celebration or at a holiday meal. I do like cooking with it and it would be a valuable barter item. Also, many wines on the market have questionable additives. Homemade would be healthier.

We drink but don't go crazy. No religious or personal reasons, I just like a good Fireball or Angry Balls (fireball/angry orchard cider). Homemade wines are on the list as I like wine, specially sweet wines for casual drinks and for medicinal uses. Hoping to make some later on this year. Our problem is getting the really hard stuff to make tinctures. Thank goodness we aren't far from the Nevada border so it is easy to get something like Everclear.

Am hoping to start winemaking next year, or maybe I will go the mead way - love mead, and I really prefer fizzy things over still. I also think it might be easier in terms of the fruit, as I don't really know how to get juice from fruit that isn't grapes, and probably don't have enough of any one fruit anyway for wine.
In terms of stronger alcohol for tinctures, I am lucky to have a friend who's partner distills. I can get 40% alcohol, unflavoured, from them for a really reasonable amount, or even for barter depending on what I have available 😊

Just finished your wine making series, I will move onto your mead series next. Ive been watching your fermentation starter and vinegar videos for a couple years now, and I was FINALLY brave enuf to make my own vinegar yesterday ( well hopefully it turns into vinegar). Idk why it took me so long to get over fear of poisoning myself with food borne illness, but fear has been my main obstacle and reason for procrastination. I suppose all this time has been study before the actual practice. Having these epiphanies is so helpful to skill & mental/spiritual development as well. Thank u so much for sharing.

Dearest Aunt of mine, your transparency and honesty is so refreshing! I'll admit as well, the glass (or 2?) wine as an enjoyment and relaxant after a long, hard day has been my Achille's heel. Especially when dealing with highly stressful situations during the day. I get very wound up, because I feel responsible for so very much, that I can't stop running my brain or body. Plus, I love the taste. Sigh. But I've felt for a while that it is not beneficial in the long run health wise, or in preparedness. I've never felt convicted spiritually that it is a sin, oddly enough...the Father and I have had conversations about it, and this will sound weird, maybe, but He points out the preparedness and health rather than as a condemnation. That I wouldn't be fully ready if something went very badly, and that regular consumption is not good for health. Not to mention, it means I'm not truly resting my burdens in His hands. That's kind of a big one, come to think of it. Anyhow... I'm leaning towards moving away from things that act as a stimulant or relaxant, and learning to deal with difficulties without those crutches.
Also, sorry I've been absent, I'll have to catch up. We've been swamped the last week with a possible cattle herd purchase and land lease agreement, and it's been difficult to keep on top of everything at home. Much less the enjoyable moments I spend listening to you and Uncle Patrick. Much love, and I will be catching up!❤

I was talking with a brother in the faith (both from Israel and a Levi); "what is wine" 100%...50%...10%...he said by definition just 1 drop in a tun vat can be considered wine. what qualities you need is a great variable, for which you use.

Not everything in creation is meant to be eaten or consumed. There are toxic plants, why make them if they are going to hurt us? In Leviticus, God tells us what animals we can eat and what we can't. If you think about the reasons why, it all makes sense. He strictly forbids birds that are carrion eaters. Eaters of dead flesh which makes them prone to carry some nasty diseases, same goes for things feom the water like catfish, eels, shrimp, crab, lobster. All are bottom feeders and again contain more toxins that are not good for us, this unclean.
Getting to pork. Pigs eat anything. They will consume raw and rotted garbage. They will eat a butchered up human. They carry a parasite causing trichinosis. Thus unclean. Pigs serve a purpose in creation but one of their purposes is not human consumption.

The best place to see skirts I have made and a list of prices is here but keep in mind, each skirt is unique and while I may be able to make something similar to those shown, I may not be able to repeat it exactly as it depends on what fabrics are available:
