Start of the 3rd round F.A. (Football Association) Cup match between Blackpool and York City in Blackpool. LV. Blackpool in light shirts kick-off. LV. Crowd. SV. towards, Stanley Matthews running with the ball, he passes inside but a close packed York defence quickly stops the inside forwards. Matthews collects again, he centres, but Howe is there to head away. Matthews again receives but a quick tackle by Storey robs Matthews and Howe is there again to boot the ball up field. SV. York attack a clever back heal by Arthur Bottom, looks dangerous but Garrett is there to clear. SV. Fenton dribbling with the ball he beats Gratix, but a nice slide tackle robs him, but Blackpool are glad to kick out. SV. Crowd. SV. Storey throws in, he receives the return pass, cleverly beats his man, centres, but the ball swerves towards goal completely beating Farm. SV. Crowd cheering, & SCU. LV. Stanley Matthews dribbling with the ball, he passes inside to an unmarked team mate who fires in a long range shot, which rockets off the crossbar. SCU. Crowd applauding. SV. Bill Perry throws and Blackpool attack through Jackie Mudie, but Phillips relieves him of the ball and sends his own line away. LV. York attack, centre forward Wilkinson passes to unmarked Fenton who coolly places the ball in the net. SV. Crowd cheering, & CU. SV. Blackpool attacking, but they make no impression on steady York defence. SV. Crowd. SV. Hugh Kelly running up to take penalty he shoots, ball hits goalkeeper and goes behind, team mates run up to congratulate goalkeeper. SV. Crowd cheering. STV. Crowd cheering players off field. Final score - York City 2, Blackpool 0.
