The production quality of the video is amazing! Especially the color grading, feels like slog/clog/vlog grading. I wonder why this video isn’t getting more views.
Chachapoyas to Cajamarca ....... I drove that over night in a jeep !!!!! The locals told us they had fixed the road for the new gold mine ......... Peruvians have a very funny idea of fixed. Also got chased by a bull on the way down to Kualape !!!!!! Amazing memories !!!!!!
Haha - I drove my brothers car from Chachapoyas to his home in Cajamarca (he has an English School) down that road in the night. Locals had told us that the road had been improved for the new 'mine' ....... Total BS !! LOL SCARY DRIVE ...... very cool experience seeing as we did not die :-)
Love it Laura! We met you in Cafe Fusiones in Chachapoyas... So glad you survived that mental bus trip, and seem to be having a blast still. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos! Safe travels, Lisa :)
Haha you found me!! :) Thanks so much! I'm still having the best time. Lol the mental bus ride actually turned out to be okay in the end, I met some other gringos on it so we all held on to each other for dear life! Hope the rest of you guys' trip went well and you found some more absolute bargain Airbnb's ;)
Hey Laura! Going on a trip to Latin America for 7 to 8 months after quitting my job and saving for a long time. First half will be solo, second half with my girlfriend. Loving your videos, really talented editing there! If I may, a few questions: - What are you filming with, was it a lot of hassle to fit the filming into the journey? - Do you have your best advice for anyone attempting such a trip? And 1 not-to-miss place? - What budget would you recommend ? Thanks a lot in advance for your answers, keep it up with the videos, it is making me travelling already!
Hey, glad you liked it! 7-8 months?! Man you're living the dream! 1. A panasonic GH5 camera with 12-60mm/2.8-4.0 lens - A fantastic lens, versatile enough that I only needed to take 1 with me which saved a lot of hassle when you just want to simply pull it out your bag and get the shot. I'm a bit of a video nerd so my mentality is always 'is this journey gonna get in the way of my filming?' hahaha 2. Make sure you PLAN PLAN PLAN. It's o easy to fall into the romance of spontaneity but you waste so many days by wandering up to a bus stop at 10AM only to then discover that there's one bus to the next destination and it only comes every 3 days at 6am. It's best to look stuff up on travel blogs like thorntree so that you are prepared. Not to miss place... hmmm depends on the region. Here's a few of my favourites that one might overlook: Huaraz, Valparaiso, All of colombia, Samaipata, Pucon, Bariloche 3. I budgeted, on average about £1,000 a month but I enjoy artisanal beer and coaches with seats that recline hahaha. I'd say £1000 a month is a fair estimate though. Hope this helps!
@@ExpLaura Thanks a lot for the answers! Dutifully writing this down in my notes 🤓 Since I've posted that comment, I've been binge-watching your entire "Backpacking South America" series multiple times + showing it to friends. We are unanimous, you deserve way more views and likes for the jaw-dropping imagery and great narration you put into every video! On a side-note, chapter 8 ended up on a "to be continued" but it's been 1 year+ since. Is there any chance we might see a chapter 9 pop up some time in the future? 🙏
Solid Jack Johnson reference. I've never travelled alone and am strongly considering South America as my next move. Is there anywhere that you've been that you wanted to spend more time or wouldn't recommend?
DO IT! It was my first solo trip and the time of my life! It's an incredible continent and really diverse! Hmm, I honestly liked most places I visited because I did a lot of research beforehand on the lonely planet forum and stuff but my highpoint was definitely hiking through Patagonia, the Inca trail, a misty little town in ColombIa called Salento, a quirky coastal town in Chile called Valparaiso and just generally just people-watching in Bolivia. The only Place I wouldn't recommend would probably be; the Peruvian beach towns (very sketchy). I've got plenty more chapters of my 5 months to upload so stay tuned if want more tips ;)
Haha a nice subtle plug, but I will look out for more videos I enjoy your content style and wit/terrible puns. Really appreciate the tips, I've never actually read the Lonely Planet forum, Im more of a get there and wing-it kind of traveller, but considering I've never been to South America I want to be more thorough in my planning. Definitely want to hike in Patagonia and the Inca trail, so annoying all the great views and experiences come after copious amount of exercise. Did you stay in Hostels?
haha thanks, subtly is never normally my speciality ;) Yeah planning definitely saved me a lot of struggling with the language barrier as they hardly speak any English (it was good to know bus companies and routes and stuff and lonely planet is good for that kind of thing). HAHA definitely, I was totally not a hiker before I went but I'm a changed woman. I did stay in Hostels using mainly hostelworld and word of mouth, I feel like there's more hostels than houses over there :')
That’s very good to know, i'm atrocious at picking up languages and my internal sat nav is non-existent. I mainly use hostel world, you always know you'll either meet your next best friend or an absolute nutter at the hostel. If you're ever around the Brighton area and feel like embracing your new found love of hiking, check out the South Downs, I'd be happy to show you around, unless its raining, then you're on your own haha
Get offline google translate on your phone also! It's brilliant. Haha brutally honest, love that. Sweeet, i'll definately give you a shout if I'm in your area :)

I was just Peru-sing the internet when I came across this gem!
genius

That was great! I really liked the voiceovers and the color grade. It felt like I was watching a short movie!

Makes me wanna go back to Peru!
Love it!! Makes me wanna go back to Peru
You have a great narration voice and you don't have long periods with bad music like most travel videos. Well done.

This is amazing. I felt like I was watching a short film on the travel channel. Awesome job!
That is such a beautiful video! :) Love the editing ❤️
This was so well made and gave me such a great idea of Northern Peru. Really nice narration too!
I love this so much Laura! It's so beautifully done! And so informative
Your beautiful video and adventure story should be in TV channel. The time-lab make it even more mysterious. Love it.
ExpLaura, may I ask which trek you took, you get so close to the glacier where you took the selfie with the other two girls. I hope to hike the same.

The only reason you don't have more views is because its too short!!
