This is probably the first and only time he did this song on TV! It didn’t catch on like “Black and Proud”, but it’s still a meaningful song that’s VERY important. This song is 50 years old and i live by this song everyday and i didn’t even exist when this came out!
Infectious bass line !!!!!!! I saw James in the 90's when Chaka Kahn opened for him. It was the most amazing 3 hours of my life. I am still recovering from that funk incident!!!!
James Brown was a Garveyite...One God! One Aim! One Destiny! "Don't give me integration...give me true communication Don't give me sorrow...give me equal opportunity to live tomorrow."
Forget about the ghetto of labels and genres. It is a trap. Don’t put artists into clearly identified boxes, let them roam free to be who they are. There are only two types of music, good music, and the other kind...
JAMES BROWN's "I Don't Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing (Open Up The Door & I'll Get it Myself)" Hits THE HOT 40 Billboard Chart on 4/19/1969 at No. 20 for 6 Weeks on KING RECORDS.
My Father's favorite song Lawrence, 10 kids w/ my mother he had his faults but was a MAJOR provider & did mostly the right thing by the family. I still stand in his grace.

Goddamn Paul Mooney brought me here. Lol. James Brown was one of the pillars of Black Americans culture. In the 1980s and 90s he was the most sampled artist in the world.

The king. 4 straight rap hits before there was even a thing called rap. He truly was a man before his time. 1> Black and I'm proud 2> king heroine 3>funky president 4> the big payback. He single handedly created rap. I am the real super bad😊

Amazing video documentation, Ike. I'm so glad that someone could see the future historical greatness of this man, as far back as 1969, to create and add to a video archive of one of the greatest entertainers of all time. James Brown rarely even appeared on Dick Clark's American Bandstand, and this was two years before Soul Train would broadcast from Chicago, if my memory serves me. JB was considered too raw, and soulful, for the milk toast networks. Hell, they'd already banned Nat King Cole.
his song is so true, get off welfare , help your self , get an education stop asking for shit , get out and get it. i grew up in south central ca watts, 9 of us in the nickerson gardens projects, ( gangs and, drugs) my dady rip played this he said get out there get an education kids ,, a trade and dont be part of the problem, be a part of the solution my brother is a LT in the us army, three brothers are in law enforcement 2 lapd, one sheriff , i am a rn , my sister a pharmacist , other sis a emergency md at ucla, and my other sis a criminal fraud invesigator of irs and another a professor at howard university, so even though we came from the hood projects we made it. My dad is gone but he really made us understand .... that we had to ...make it... welfare is the slavery of the 21 centry , our people seem to not want to try, they want to begg .. sad..
Damn right James that's my motto see I got out here an work for mines an now I'mma do it on tha fkn good foot Living in America thank you James Brown keep it moving
This song is 50 years old and is still relevant today. These are the type of songs we need today.
the song, the mentality, the drive that drove these songs to.
Only JB could teach us a lesson and make us groove at the same time. Butane James was and will always be the KING!
Right on
Yep❤😂

Been dancing off GFOS since I was 3yr old. Became an adult and paid cash money of $10 for his shows. 🤔 What are the cost of live concerts today?

I saw JB just before he died in Amsterdam for €75. That was almost 20 years ago. I'm going to see Bob Dylan this year for €135.

Wow what a PLATFORM that was used properly. Can't ask for any more then that.
This is harder than most hip hop songs nowadays. Love it.
James Brown advocated the benefits of education to schoolchildren✊🏾
52 years ago this was on a Black man's heart and is still on the hearts of thousands of black folks.✊🏼
