You are leaving us hanging mann😩been here from the start, i want to see the finished product😍
Bike is looking amazing! Can’t wait to see it finished 👍
Looking forward to seeing the final product!!!
Great work you're doing on this. I've got an 89 XR250R that I'm working on this winter, and I'm doing some of the same things so your videos have been very helpful!
I run a mint condition 2003 XR25R street legal. In my opinion one of the best off road bikes ever. I run with new KTMs and never have a problem. Great video I’m going to do a fork conversion soon. All Balls racing are helpful with info.
Wow, the bike is looking great!
I'm in to middle of the conversion to the crf forks been a right headache, I'm interesting on what your going todo for a sterling stop, Ive just welded 6mm steel stabs on the side, works fine so far
I have access to a tig welder so once I know how the tank fits and clearances have been accounted for I will weld some tabs on the lower triple clamp.
Is there a ‘Holy Grail’ XR250 ? Like THE Best of the production run ?
That's a good question, I think that depends on what you are looking for, the 96 to 04 had a good number of advantages over previous years.
Looks amazing man I have one myself I'm just trying to figure out why it has so much top end noise
Do the valves need to be adjusted?
I would like to build a
XR650 into a street single
With inverted forks and triple disc brakes, road tyres and clip on bars.
Lowered suspension.
It's doable for sure
Glad I found your channel!!, Man that XR is on point!, my question is , on the front end, could you have used the stem from the xr triple, in the new crf triple? I did watch the other video of what stem you did use, I have a 94 and 92 cr250, I have a set of 2008 crf450 triples and front wheel, I was told the stem would swap out Cr to crf and no need for other bearing or stem? Do you have any comments on this?, I will be swapping them out this November ,after one more race, any help is appreciated, also your XR turned out GREAT!!, Thanks, Charlie in Pensacola,
If you could find the length of the stem and diameter of the stem at bearing locations then compare it to yours. I don't know off hand if its a direct swap. But if it is you could save yourself some money
😀👍❤️
Please could tell me how to find the steering stem lock washer
I would check ebay, honda parts direct, or babbitts online.
How many centimeters is the rear shock absorber?
When you installed the XR front wheel to the CRF forks was that the XR axle you used or the CRF one? Was there any adapting you had to do like on the stem? For the front caliper are you using the XR one and if so does it bolt up to the CRF forks ok? I'm contemplating a conversion and just trying to understand how many components I need to buy from a donor bike front end and the amount of adaptations needed.
The front wheel is a crf. Watch my video on the conversion it covers everything you need to know and where to get parts.
@@WeekendAdventureRides thank you sir! Much appreciated!
Nice restoration! Are you going to make it street legal?
So much nicer than a CRF300l. What color plastics will you use?
It will be street legal. Plastics are black. Keep watching, I'm going to post the whole build. New video every week.
is there going to be more videos on the build? 😅
Yes.
im thinking of doing this on my xr150l but im not sure how it will work and dont know where im going to get the spacers
You can make it work with a little machining. Take the problem to a machine shop and they can turn a stem to fit
Ok so i weigh 225 probably too much for an xr250r anyways but i have a mint condition 2000 and i cant let it go. I much prefer it to my wr290f (upsized piston athena kit) . Am I correct in thinking i cant just get a stiffer spring for front end? Id like to keep it as stock as possible.
In my opinion you're fine. I weigh 215 and my XR250R pulls the front shifting into second, so power is not really an issue. I would contact Racetech and upgrade the front fork springs for your weight and while you're in there install the Gold Emulator Valve. They also have the rear springs, with an online calculator for the right rate. I think that the XR250R was built with a spring rate for someone around 150 so the stock suspension is a little too soft for the heavier guys like us!
I agree with everything that spin4god said.
Ive wondering how much the showa suspention cost for an xr 250 and of there high maintnance forks?
I found these on ebay, usually they run $350-$400. Far larger diameter than stock xr250 forks, and as far as I know, it's not bad for maintenance. Most of that depends on how hard you ride and the weight of the rider. For these lighter bikes as long as you're not racing shouldn't need a huge amount of maintenance.
