Whitebeard didn't manipulate shit. Marco said that Ace can just leave and start over if he wants. Ace is the one who wanted to stay to kill Whitebeard. If anything, Ace manipulated himself. They didn't even bother locking them up and putting them in chains because they know for a fact that Ace and his crew isn't strong enough to do anything to a fucking EMPEROR.
I understand why folks watch the dub, but as a 20+ year Straw Hat veteran, I gota lyk its WAYYYYYYY better in Japanese. The English dub dumbs the story & dialog down & the Japanese VAs are FAR better actors bc they are of the culture. At least give it a shot. It'll improve your reading skills too, as it did for my kids while I raised them on it 💯❤ The dub is disrespectful to the creator, Oda-san, & his masterful creation. I can't even stomach it, tho there are several anime I watch in English that do them justice, like FMA, Wolf's Rain, Trigun, Vandread, Inuyasha (sometimes), DBZ (sometimes), Case Closed, Bleach & others. The sub version is still always the best!
