Between history and legend: the Pia Bridge - Montagnola Senese - Tuscany

- The Pia bridge is a bridge of Roman origin and rebuilt in the Middle Ages with a single arch and the characteristic "humpback" shape, which crosses the Rosia stream, not far from the town of the same name in the municipality of Sovicille. In the past it was an important connection point of the Via Massetana and allowed you to reach the hermitage of Santa Lucia, located a short distance away.
According to tradition, the bridge commemorates the passage of Pia dei Tolomei, a sensitive and delicate female figure, taken from Siena to Maremma and killed by her husband. Dante included her in his Antipurgatory, among the spirits of those killed by violence.
She reminds the poet, in a few famous verses, of her Sienese origins and her destiny in Maremma, at the hands of the one who had also given her the wedding ring:
«Remember me, I am the Pious; Siena made me, Maremma unmade me: let him rise who had first married me to her gem" (Purgatorio, V 130-136). - Навчання та стиль

Grazie, sempre molto gentile. Video nato in due tempi...ho ripreso il ponte quando neppure immaginavo di aprire un canale UA-cam...successivamente, per completare il lavoro, ai miei compagni di trekking è venuta fuori l'idea della Pia, come un gioco 😀. La "Pia" dopo 10 minuti di riprese ha cambiato abito, scarpe, messo zaino in spalla e abbiamo fatto un giro nei bellissimi sentieri del senese.
Tutto molto evocativo , la, musica, il luogo ...la Pia che attraversa il ponte verso la Maremma
